A bumpy ride through the rainforest to IRF's restoration site 1

I left the base camp at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary and set out on bumpy roads and trails to visit all three of the restoration sites that IRF and our partner, Indonesia Rhino Initiative, support in Way Kambas National Park. Each holds promise of recovery and regrowth of native species into viable habitat for wildlife and their food too. Read more at rhinos.org/blog/
Take a ride down the Way Kanan River in Sumatra

One of the highlights of my trip to Way Kambas National Park is the opportunity to get out on the river. I left our base camp at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in mid-afternoon and made the short drive to the docks on the Way Kanan river. Here is a little snippet from my journey. Javan Rhinos Return to the Beach - A Good Sign for the Species
Переглядів 8403 роки тому
It’s important for Javan rhinos to supplement their diet with salt, and they have historically been sighted along the park’s beaches for this reason. But in recent years, as more illegal fishermen have built fishing platforms along the northern peninsula, fewer and fewer rhinos have been seen there. Instead, they must traverse much greater distances inland to find plants that contain enough sal...

😭😭😭😭💔💔💔
What a great video! I was privileged to see Harapan just weeks before he left Cincinnati, and I am so happy to hear that he is doing well in Indonesia and has now sired a son himself in the breeding program!
Cina mengklaim semua hewan adalah obat.
Thank's alot Inov
Thank you Jack Hanna ... For bringing this to people's attention. Now I heard on there where you said they actually need people's hands over their Hands-On training to protect the wildlife. I would be very interested in that! Thank you guys for being the most amazing family I've ever known! 😅
This puss government needs to go so we can stop this
Too Forest3064, Greater One horned Rhinos is another name for Indian rhinos as they have only one horn, unlike White, Black and Sumatran rhinos. The greater part is because they are the larger one rhino. The Javan rhino is also known as the Lesser One Horned Rhino. Lesser because of their size.
Are you indian ?
That’s a face only a mother could love
Where's his penis?
Sounds a little like humpback whales?
Badak paling tua..
Badak Rosa masuk,.kebun, pasar, jalan2 di kampung dia badak yang salah badan. Bertingkah lalu layaknya anjing piaraan. sudah jadi ibu sekarang.. Panjang umur sehat selalu rosa
Javan Rhino, wish save and growing more🙏
ASEAN should take fruitful steps to tackle population decrease
In india we have already 3600 one horn rhinos
@@AryandanBarhat it's over 4000 in 2024
How many of them are present there right now?
So this baby rhino is sedah mira and her father is andatu, the first born rhino in sumatran rhino sanctuary?
What the hell is going on in Indonesia with their rhinos and why is seemingly no one panicking? Those numbers are shocking and still falling with every count. This is literally our last chance with these two species, get them all into managed care NOW. We will have another Vaquita tragedy with just one more bad year. I just cannot believe things have been left to get to this point. How many more species do we have to lose?
I believe that in the past the populations were overestimated. It’s very annoying that the northern white rhino which is a subspecies gets way more news coverage than the Indonesian rhinos combined
You mean Indian Rhino, not “Greater One Horned Rhino”
Both are same
@@anirban5262 It is a deliberate attempt to remove the word “Indian” from everything
@@forest3064 yes,,,,,,non indians specially westerners and other South Asians prefer to remove the word 'indian' like indian subcontinent, indian rhino etc...... Although indian rhino is also found outside india i. e nepal...
@@anirban5262 Very few are in Nepal region, see Siberian tigers are also in China, but nobody calls it differently
@@forest3064 ohhh... Absolutely..... Though it's found also in Nepal, yet still it's indian rhino species..
video is too short text transitions are too fast (with peace and love)
asians are so misinform and still relays on woo doo medicinal cure.
South Africa is the most successful African country to conserve wild rhino populations

I I'm not gonna lie it's because of the government we have we need to make a change of the people n world
As a fellow thicc beast going through summer at the moment, I feel you Ratu.
I saw one of the babies born at the Cincinnati zoo, with it's mother. One of the milestones of my life. I hope they can be saved.
This is awesome. I've only heard Dalia calls: she's the baby rhino at the Cleveland Zoo
Thanks to everyone involved, I know there is a huge amount of work going into this moment. So great to see home hope for this species. I feel so much shame just for being human sometimes.
I just happened to subscribe to the channel now, without noticing numbers, and I'm the honoured 1000th member of a quality channel🥳! I feel kind of happy in the morning🌞Congrats and thanks from Japan
Thank you and congrats on being our 1000th!
Our deepest condolences to Anton and his family. Anton, you were a hero and we shall always remember you! Your service has unmeasurable value and we most humbly and sincerely THANK YOU! Also, our greatest and most sincere thanks to Nina Fascione and all members of IRF for their wonderful work!
Our condolences to Anton and his family. These Rangers are the true heroes of the humanity. Sacrificing their precious life to protect other species endangered by humans.
Interesting note on the major issue South Africa has with poaching; corruption within the law enforcement when poachers are caught and some few rangers being involved with the poaching syndicates.
