Early Morning On Folkestone Beach
I awoke at 3:30am and rather than lying in bed trying to fight against staying awake or trying to fall back to sleep, I decided getting out with the camera was the better option.
No sunrise unfortunately but the session was invigoration and set me up for the day!

I had an hour to kill so I decided to take my Sony Cybershot compact camera and have a stroll around Dover Castle. I wanted to just take images as a tourist. 😁📷 Buy me a coffee: www.buymeacoffee.com/tudorsmith My other UA-cam Channels Tudor Smith: ua-cam.com/users/TudorSmith Tudor Travels: ua-cam.com/channels/5WEMvq9ZQtcq0Mg7QuShKA.html Drive With Care: ua-cam.com/channels/bIBTTRkauFYdy1Ws14fX5...

Another day at the races at Lydden Hill. I always like turning up here whenever there's an event. More Shoot What You See Photography - this time in Sandwich, Kent

I'm out with compact camera again this time walking around the beautiful ancient town of Sandwich in Kent. I was drawn to the old architecture and little back alleys but actually, I cover a lot of bases in this video. things that appeal to me: History, Street Photography, Classic Cars. It all happened on this photo shoot! #walkabout #sandwichkent #photography Buy me a coffee: www.buymeacoffee.c...
Umbrella and Rain Photography

I've wanted to do this in quite a while. Go out with my compact camera, under the refuge of my own umbrella, and just shoot some street photography in the rain. It is a bit of "shoot what you see" but the main theme is umbrellas and rain. All too frequently, it's easy to fall out of love with photography. Perhaps because we are uninspired or perhaps because we measure our own skills or success against others. Here's a simple solution. Take pictures that please you. Once you master that, you'll be more than happy just to shoot what you see! Photography Challenge Day 6 Of 7
Переглядів 3302 місяці тому
#photography #photographychallenge Day 6 of my 7 day challenge. A day at the races. I decided that "Motion" would be the theme of this days photography, and thankfully, there was something happening at Lydden Hill. My trusty settings of Shutter Priority at 1/60sec with Auto ISO may become a thing of the past as I discover that 1/100sec gives a sharper image - well at least the cars become sharp...

#Quiet - be at one with nature and a camera
I noticed that the moon in your photos had a bit of yellow, did you add that or were you able to achieve that in camera? All i every get is gray moon shots
Well it was a harvest moon so it had a yellow hue about it but I do tend to apply post processing such as saturation and contrast 👍
Nice one Tudor , you could of course take 2 shots 1 for the wash and 2 nd for the waves and blend them together rather than trying to capture all in one shot
Blending! I never think of these things when I’m there on location 😉
Great time of the day. Have you ever thought about finding a subject like the Lighthouse, taking the same photo over period, say a couple of hours before it goes dark or just before dawn. It's amazing how they look a ten to twenty minute gap. Thank you again from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
That would be a great idea and subject for a video 👍
Interesting video Tudor as I have ambitions of getting up earlier than usual to take sunrise pics...I do photograph sunset a lot over the water where I live... thanks for sharing... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
We’re now in the cloudy and overcast season so beautiful sunrises and sunsets are going to be a bit hit and miss!
I was the opposite and was wide awake until 3:30am trying to fall asleep!! I love this idea! What a great way to start the morning, peaceful and refreshing. Always love your videos and wish I could tag along and take photos with you!
That’s so frustrating when you can’t get to sleep. I probably woke up when you eventually nodded off 🤣
Inspiring😊! Made me think of this song from Donovan! : ua-cam.com/video/7IN-8xbp_tg/v-deo.htmlsi=hsfUu8HTmoJB4myv
I thought the scenes, location and were awesome ha ha sometimes we just don't feel it 👍 however I loved the video
Yeah I must admit I was a bit uninspired - and when that happens the photography suffers for it. Still it was nice being up with not too many people about 👍
Your Mrs must wake up and wonder where the hell you’ve gone 😂
No missus - only cats 🐈⬛ 🐈⬛ 🤣
I can get up at 6 a.m., but I don't like to these days, when a warm bed is so hard to get out of. Nice video, Tudor, and you managed to get some good shots.
If I hadn’t gotten up at 3.30 I probably wouldn’t have gone out 🤣
Have you tried using the tripod upside down with the camera close to the ground taking the shot. I did something similar taking a video and then cheated by selecting the frame I liked. It worked wonders for the situation I was undertaking a while ago. Worth a shot, pun intended 😂
Now that sounds like a brilliant idea. I’m going to have to give it a try 👍
I’m forgetting how late sunrise is this days!
Even if you didn’t get the sun it’s always lovely to hear the waves and the gulls plus see the sea and sand is a bonus
Crazy how quickly the seasons change eh?
I enjoy these Videos where you analyze the Images you have taken previously, I know these places really well so sometimes you see them from a different angle such as the Images you took from the Hythe canal which I found interesting as I have not shot these before so you have given me some ideas for the future, Regards, Colin.
Thanks Colin. I guess we all see things differently- that subjective eye. And I highlighted that in my video by mentioning that a few shots were based on what my granddaughter saw. But I think it’s good to take onboard what others see because hey, sometimes we miss things. I know that when I review my videos and I’m talking about a subject I’m going to take a picture of, I find myself yelling at the screen because if seen something else that would have made for a better picture 🤣
Wow Tudor on this miserable Friday wet and windy day your post brightened up my day no end, lovely shots lovely watch! Do hope your grandson was ok.
Thanks very much Dave. Yeah grandson is on the mend thank you. He spent several hours at A&E and had an x-ray which revealed no damage. He was sent home but to be observed by his parents for 24hrs 👍
@2:29 Is that a Microsoft Teams notification? I was going mad trying to see what my colleague or manager had messaged me but it was on your computer, not mine! I even quit and restarted Teams! 😂😂😂
So funny. Yes it was. But I’m included in many teams messages and that one wasn’t for my attention 🤣
Love it. Very unique format. You have a good eye for composition. We get it without you explaining it.
Thanks so much!
Love these
Thanks 🙏
I dont describe myself as old I state that i'm mid century as I am 72
Mid century - I like that 👍
oh i like this format as much as the other one, great video/photos Tudor, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Brilliant. I’ll knock a few more out and see if they get any traction for the channel 👍
Gorgeous photos of Hythe and the Royal Military Canal very peaceful looking. Visited Hythe a few weeks back the High Street was buzzing and as you pointed out, mostly independent traders (refreshing, must support them) my other half bought lots of stuff from U-Weigh 💷💷
hope your grandson ok
Thanks. He suffered concussion but the X-ray showed no damage. He was off school on the Monday and basically slept. He’s on the mends now 😊
You live so near to amazing places so lucky
There sure are so many nice places to shoot.
Pleased you took up my idea of the horse chestnut tree Tudor , I think from what I could see the field has teasel plants, goldfinch love them
It was you eh Ken? I’m almost into week 4 so I’ve been diligent. I want to see it through now 👍 Thanks for the heads up on the plants too!
Nice set of pictures with a lot of variety and we all like to blow are own trumpet.
Toot toot 🎺 🤣
Thanks Tudor for sharing your experience with great photos....so interesting to see & hear about the castle history... English history always fascinates me ... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Glad you enjoyed it
Really enjoying the chanel, I see myself in these videos 👍📷
Glad you like them!
enjoyable watch thank you.
🙏
Great photos
Thanks Jack 🙏
Dover Castle fascinates me no end, excellent photos as always. 👍
Unless you spend all day there you’d miss so much. I love strolling around there and it’s a bonus being en EH member plus it’s on my doorstep 👍
@@TudorSmithPhotography We visit frequently, like you EH membership 😊
I do like the way you take photographs! That 'take what you see' approach. It's very similar to the way I take photos. 😊😊
I find there’s so much to see and I love just “snapping away” 😊 I do love a good sunset or landscape but I often feel it a little restricting. I like shaking things up a little 👍
Maybe next year we will revisit the castle as we only did the war rooms this year.
It’s been a long time since I did the war rooms. As a photographer I just want to go in and capture images but it’s not allowed 🤣
Back to the castle lovely falconry
Yeah I had an hour to kill. I was thinking about just strolling down at Marine Parade then I thought “why not the castle”. Nothing award winning but certainly another “day in the life” bit of photography 👍
Very interesting. I say keep it up.
Thanks!
What a fabulous video Tudor. I felt it was me doing exactly that as I walk about. Hey the word Hiraeth WOW! I have felt that all my life when I see these places and buildings Thought it was just me, LOL. Can't wait till your next Midweek camera roll thank you.
Thanks very much. Hopefully the presentation of the images did them justice. Yeah that’s a great word which kind of encapsulates all the feelings and emotions all in one word.
Beautiful photos Tudor! Really enjoyed this video!
Thank you Rachel.
Thanks Tudor for sharing your experience.... great video with many great photos....I started school on an airforce base in 1958 and your pics reminded me when I was a child running around the RAAF base...my father learnt to fly in a Tiger Moth back in the 1940's.... keep up the good work... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😀
Hopefully those were cherished memories for you.
Lovely set of pictures Tudor. with the black and white try more contrast, as you know I love black and white and I think you will find it hard to do that weekly I do it monthly and sometimes that's hard to do so it when I don't have a video to put out.
Good tip Martin. I’ll look into that. Yeah every week may be a difficult ask. Maybe it’ll just be whenever I have time 👍
Enjoyed the first ’Midweek Camera Roll’. ATA is Air Transport Auxiliary - these people ferried aircraft around in WW2. Many were ladies! They delivered new aircraft / transferred / took for repair.
Amazing. Those ladies were among the unsung heroes of the war. I’ve seen a documentary about them transporting Spitfires.
Hi Tudor, great images.. For the moon there is a rule called the Lunar f11, which is f11 aperture and your shutter speed and ISO must be the same i.e. ISO 200/ shutter 200th.. Works a treat every time.. 👍
Brilliant thanks for the info. I think that’s what Aaron was trying to explain to me. I’ll give it a try the next time I’m shooting the moon 👍📷
Wow really great Tudor. I also thought to capture the Harvest supermoon these 2 days, but been busy and now weather is not looking up. Enjoyed your shots. Great that you were able to add the lighthouse 😁 blue hour photos were good too! Aaron looks like a real friendly dude. Good to meet others!
I often think about talking to other photographers but usually don't. In this case Aaron was really friendly. We've not had cloudy skies for two nights as the moon takes full shape. You have to seize the moment sometimes with photography!
Great results.... thanks for sharing your experience... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊
Thanks. As per usual, I go out not knowing what to capture other than hoping something will happen. It's the best times I reckon with photography.
Still poetry! Very enjoyable!📸
Thank you kindly!
Hi Tudor, That's a great set of pictures. I finally finished the last video and pictures from when we were down at Folkestone.
Thanks Martin. I’ll look forward to seeing your video 👍
Go you with the new lens! Hope you enjoy
I’m still getting used to it. It seems to have problems focusing when in shutter priority mode. I’ve got to work out the settings!
Spectacular 👌🏻
Thanks a lot 😊 I enjoyed making that video.
Favourite time of year!
Mine too!
Hi Aaron
Harvest moon
Yay been waiting for this 💙🩵💙🩵💙🩵
I have the Tamron 18-200 on my Nikon D7000. It's a lovely lens. Unfortunately mine needs to be either replaced or repaired because I accidently dropped the bloody thing! The camera itself wasn't damaged, it's built like a tank, but the lens now won't extend beyond 18mm! 😣😣 I like the idea of you providing a bit of a commentary as to why and how you took the shot. That sounds interesting. I've tried making videos just set to music. Just slide shows really. They do work to an extent but I always thought that mine were a bit boring! 😂😂 What camera is it you're using by the way? It's a lovely colour!😁😁
I lost my original 70-300mm lens the same way. The camera fell off a bench but landed on the lens! They are fragile aren’t they? My camera is the entry level DSLR Nikon D3200. Nikon offered the entry level range in red and I thought I’d be different. Everyone has a black camera right? 🤣
great idea Tudor looking forward to the midweek slot. Enjoyed todays walk and chat, and photos of course!
