Selling your home in 2024 will take patience
Over the last decade, home sellers have enjoyed a market environment that was remarkably favorable. Low interest rates, coupled with limited housing inventory, created a seller's market where homes were often snatched up in a matter of days, sometimes even hours.     I have lived in Rowlett for 21 years, moved here to raise my family safe small town. The reality is: Rowlett, Texas Home of AUTISM - Ableism/BIAS/DISCRIMINATION Do not move here if you are an adult with Autism or have a child with Autism, especially with the social enviroment in the school and the town! Job opportunities HA! I can not speak speak in regard to people with other conditions. The wealthier you are the more welcomed you will be here!

    Wrong. Sellers missed their opportunity and buyers are disappearing. Home prices will never appreciate like how it did the past couple years and it's all downhill from here because the Fed will continue to tighten to fight inflation. Expect more slowdown in the market. Stop lying to your audience.

      Amin, I’m not sure how much worse it will get but I’m predicting maybe 4-5 months worth of inventory in the next 12-24 months. Let’s see how that prediction holds!

    These houses are really nice. However I am a native North Texan born and raised in DFW, I know these houses are NOT 600k+ houses More like high 200k- mid 300k houses depending on Sqft. I know the market is High at this time due to inflation and low Mortgage rates. Plus Texas property tax. They are looking for trouble Yikes!!!!!!

      Eric, I know how you feel...but they ARE $600k houses...and they're FLYING OFF THE SHELVES!!! Not sure what's going to happen in the future, but here we are. Time to face reality. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I'm sure we wouldn't be here had the Federal government not monkeyed with interest rates for so long. Time will tell, I guess.

    No veteran discount in Dallas, TX. My husband is 20 year retired Navy, we got nothing. NO city homestead but we do get Dallas County. This may be a stupid question, but I must ask. WHY is property tax calculated on thin air, meaning? Why isn't property tax built on what you actually paid for the house and land instead of value when you are NOT selling? On Social Security and a small pension most of my income goes to insurance and taxes. I have no kids but pay into schools. No city Homestead but I do get county. Whoop. It comes down to $300 a month that I must save for Property taxes thin air calculation. I worked for 50 years to retire, and this is what we paid into all these years. I would have done better putting my social security money into an IRA vs Social Security that they call supplemental income. OMG help us. I may have to move because I own my home but can't afford Property tax. No wonder Seniors do not maintain their houses with so little money they have left. I would rather they tax everything than pay property tax to RENT my house that I bought and paid for.

    How many tax exemptions can a 65 year old claim when buying a home in TX? 65 exemption plus first time homebuyers, plus low assessment value?

      There is no "first-time buyer" tax exemption I'm aware of. Over 65, and Homestead should be filed for immediately after you buy. Also, you might have exemptions available is you're disabled or a veteran.

    Nice house, high baseboards and crown molding. But the windows aren't trimmed out and neither are the archways.
