Tom is a great investor, but you will not be able to replicate his returns.

Well done. Great performance. Love the comments around sticking to your plan -- everyone has losers on occasion, but you kept with the strangles and now they are paying off. Great example for your followers. Others who stopped that strategy after a couple of losses need to re-think why we have a trade plan (losses are expected, but in the plan we continue to trade and over the long-term, it pays off).

Ditto with what all the other members said to May was my best month since joining in February. Up a solid 4% on the month, 8% since February 2024. Thanks for everything that you, Candy and Igor do!!

The only problem with selling Leaps is the Vega. A big move down will move the IV up, and put it to you. Just like selling ATM puts that are expiring in 1 week. The Gamma is too large. 45 to 60 DTE seems to balance out between the two. I don/t know how to hedge for Vega, except by buying another option in the same series.

@@Tom. I am using your 1 1 2 method and it works. Can you come up with a trade to reduce portfolio delta so to reduce risk! I find buying low delta puts expensive. Thank you! I use spx 60 days Ste.

Hey I am not on Tasty I think that new feature seems nice. Do you usually open your 112 in 2 different trades? Open the PDS and when filled the 2 naked put? does any1 know if IBKR will understand and use the proper BP when I open those naked puts? Or do you all just open the 4 contracts at the same time?

regarding futures strangles going further out 90dte , it would need double units to get same theta as 40-50 dte so it would seem less risky being further out and wider but its actually double the risk . thoughts?

Tom, Thanks for these videos. Why do you only trade 50% of your account? If you are 80% Invested in Spy or qqq, then are you beating your options trading as a buy and hold? I love how you are diversifying your income across assets and strategies. I personally only do 112s on ES and CL because I don't have the time to constantly be watching the market. However, I love how detailed you got in this training. Income Navigator students are definitely getting some amazing info daily! Everyone who join that and learn from you :)

For the most part, I agree with this plan and the deep thoughts you had on Margin usage, daily theta etc. Hoever, I think you carry too much risk with your SPY/ES Index options. Of course, when the market runs sideways or goes up, everything is fine. But usually once in a year with have a sharp, temporary downward move with a huge spike in Volatility. This would probably trigger at least a 25 k draw down considering the amount of short put positions you have on the US stockmarket. I would diversify at least the LEAP position and sell PUTs on TLT, GLD, USO etc.

Nice detail, Tom. You've set up your moving averages as EMA. For your Bollinger Band settings, you've adjusted the period to 21 (from default of 20) but retaining SMA weighting for your Bollinger Band settings?

My Portfolio Management professor once said this about diversification: “Portfolio construction is like making a vegetable soup. In order to be able make a great soup, you have to start with good vegetables; however, even if you start with good vegetables, you can still end up with a terrible vegetable soup if they aren’t in the correct proportions/you don’t follow a good recipe”.

Thanks Tom. Your message resonates with my experience. I recently tried to diversify out into some of the other futures (more then ES, GC, CL) to include corn and it just complicates it. Plus the others have less liquidity fewer expirys
