Brian, I’ve known for some time of your issues with the beloved song “Mary Did You Know?” and I offer a different viewpoint as someone who cherishes it. I would have no problem with those alternate lyrics being ADDED to the original song, but I hear the original version differently. For me, the lyrics are speaking to the CHILD Mary as she was at the time she gave birth. Yes, she had the angelic visitation to let her know WHO was growing in her womb, but as far as we know, she wasn’t provided a lot of details. She was an impoverished kid from a small village, whom was likely uneducated. Perhaps never allowed to attend Temple. I don’t think she saw the future, so while she knew her Son would change everything, she likely had no idea how-at least at the time of his birth. The song refers to specific miracles that she likely didn’t anticipate. And as a kid whose imagination developed in a tiny uninformed world-until it happened-she might not have grasped that when she kissed her baby, she would be kissing God. Especially considering “pre-nativity” Hebrews mostly feared God. We’re afraid to say or write His name. Not that she could write. I think the lyricist addresses these revelations to Mary about the fact that she had been entrusted with the infant incarnation of God, really as a way of helping all the listeners to imagine her experience. How powerful and completely unique in all of history. What she felt must have been uplifting, but completely overwhelming at the same time. I think the song is to help US appreciate the marvel and blessing of her experience in the beginning. I think she has no idea of what we know in hindsight of how she and her Son would suffer. That He would be killed before her eyes. Before His ultimate triumph. I don’t think this song disrespects that little girl. I think it highlights the ever growing wonder (and fear) she probably felt after becoming a mother. I don’t see it as mansplaining. It’s a narrator whom has the advantage of knowing a lot of Jesus’s life talking-not to a woman-but to a young kid. I think it’s lovely.

I really like the "Eucharist" song - have never heard that before. Nice service, but missed being with you all. However, I loved being with my daughter and son in Branson for a wonderful weekend.

My opinion is not objective, but I think the new opening sequence for online worship is POWERFUL & BEAUTIFUL. I also happen to know that it took 7 hours of continuous work by your Online Ministry Coordinator (Jason) to make as special as possible. It’s a lovely representation of the most sacred truth.

As I looked around me at church today I saw people smiling and so uplifted by your message, by just who you are. After church you were surrounded by people who wanted to share more time with you. So many of us are still learning that God’s love includes us just as we are. Thank you.

After the last few years going out my way to speak to conservatives on the streets, many have come to accept me even after finding out I'm trans. And I in turn have found at times deep friendships with people who originally say bigoted things to me. When we're willing to extend a seat at the table with those who would not do the same, it's spiritually fulfilling for all

A separation is happening and has happened. A separation of the worldly church and Christ's true church and body of believers. Come out from among them my people! 😥

Something the MLK quote had me think on, the difference between mutual aid and charity is how you help a person. Charity is reaching down and is mindless. It may be helpful, and ease some of the burden, but does nothing to fundamentally end the root cause of the suffering to begin with. Mutual aid is extending a hand across, to see someone at the human level, and understand the systems involved that are causing the suffering to begin with and working to change it, while still providing immediate aid. You can feed the man while also teaching him to fish too
