remember being at roker park in the 70s and stood about 6 feet from George best as he took a corner - Sunderland v Manchester united and Bobby Charlton had a comb over
Am a mag and went with my Dad to a derby 1975(?) After thew car was stoned near the windmill I got separated from my Dad in the crush and was taken down to sit on the gravel - result!
So many fabulous memories of Roker Park. The highlight undoubtedly that Fifth Round FA Cup replay v Man. City during 1973 Cup run. I just wish the footage was clearer and in colour.
I wish we had stayed at Roker Park and developed it rather than move to the tin wrap around with no identity, no Fullwell End or Roker End, no clockstand Paddock, just sponsored areas. We also need our ship badge back.
Nice turn and finish by John Mullin, but that assist ball from Waddle....effortless. I never got the chance to travel to Roker Park, but know some folk that did. I was living in Leicester in 1995, and several Leicester City supporters I knew travelled to Roker for the opening match of the 1995/96 Division One season. They rated that day as their best away match experience up to that point, and not just for Corica's winner for Leicester. I asked them what they thought of Roker, and the most frequent response was one word - "Brilliant".
Unfortunately I never went if it wasn't for health and safety I think it would be there there will never be a better atmosphere than the fullwell end and the whole Roker park rip to one of the best stadiums in the world
Fantastic memories of Roker Park where me and my brothers knew those two imposters the agony and ecstasy; both of which - as in life - could turn from one to the other in a moment.
Happy days 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️

Now you get to to enjoy the pick of the seats at an empty stadium in the Championship. Gonna miss the Derbies - hopefully we're drawn in the Cup.
What memories, that cold blast of air from the sea, Scalding bovril, thanks so much for this!!!
