ŠKOFJA LOKA (SI) AND VALLE CAMONICA (I) HERITAGE COMMUNITIES
CROSS-BORDER LEARNING VISIT

As part of one of AlpTextyles’ pilot actions, a delegation of artisan weavers from two local associations of Valle Camonica (Italy), Fili by Ca’mon and Codadilana, was invited by the Arts and Crafts Centre Škofja Loka (Slovenia) to visit their city and experience part of what they do with the traditional craft practice from the region. As visitors to one of Slovenia’s most charming towns, the weavers are greeted by Škofja Loka’s proud thousand-year-old handicraft tradition, a heritage lovingly passed down through generations, blending timeless techniques with innovative technology.
From felting and weaving to dyeing natural fibers with plants, the study visit represented a unique exchange opportunity between two textile communities and their respective textile heritage - otherwise difficult to imagine - and embodied one of the many collaboration efforts that AlpTextyles strives to realize as part of its mission.
