My name was Fiona ( Smith I went ) I went to Faraday secondary modern school , That is what it was called when I was their . From 19-58 to 19-62.. I remember some of my class mates names, Jackie Green , Suzanne Beddows , Frances Riddick , David Lawrence,George Collet,Roberta Jewel , Pauline Stone . My form teachers were Mr Monday , and Mr Smith ,Art Teacher Mr Holly, cooking teacher Mrs J , …… Our class room was very much like the movie { To Sir With Love } Very unruly , loud. Very hard to learn anything , and the teachers didn’t care . I had a number of jobs after my school days ,then in 19-69 I meet an American , we dated for 10 months, he left to go fight in the Viet Nam War …… We kept in touch with letters . In 19-71 he came back to marry me . I was 23 When I joined him in America, I have been married for 52 years . I visited my home town of London in the Late 90s , I wanted to show my daughter my old School , Faraday .. it was no longer a school , it was a Muslim place of worship . With a big dome on top . My old school no longer existed ? No one could tell me why it was closed down . Does anyone know why ? I am 75 now . Still living in the USA ..

When I was a young child I lived on Bollo Bridge Road and remember my mum and nan talking about catching this train, apparently everyone new each other on the service. Thanks for sharing the video.

5:50 - Did you know, that even now in 2023, ten years after the original BBC left the centre, if you look close at TC1 exterior here, you can still see the faded area of the BBC logo. They couldn't wipe that away totally. If you get the chance, go to Television Centre, look up and you can see the faded area where the BBC logo used to be.

4:22 - a great news centre this was. It was only opened in 1998 and lasted just 15 years. What a waste of money. BBC Studios, the commercial subsidiary of the BBC now occupy Stage 6 as the news centre was known as.

3:08 - Ohh, there is TC4, a studio I remember as home to Friday Night with Jonathan Ross before he left in 2010.

2:15 - I remember eating in this part back in the early 2000s. It was a nice place to eat a snack or lunch. Seeing it here just makes me want to cry.

I lived in Jerome Tower from a year old until I was 14 and my grandparents lived in Hocking House and used to drink in the Duck and the Anchor

Did not know this occured in South Acton. I know about the anti fascist battles in Wood Green (23/4/1977), New Cross (13/8/1977), Southall (23/4/1979).

I had the misfortune of attending the festering pile of doggy do that was Faraday school , from 1967 to 1972 , couldn't wait to escape would rather have done time in the scrubs :-(

I attended there in the later fifties.

When it was burned down the Gaumont (Globe) was our playground as were the air raid shelters next to it.

There was a cinema down Mill Hill Terrace as well.

Lovely video. I went to the estate once as it was where Only Fools And Horses filmed from 1981 to 1985. Apparently Harlech, Corfe and Beaumaris Tower are to be demolished soon.

The late Robin Friday, footballer (Reading/Cardiff City), attended this school in the mid-1960s.

Faraday high school....i went there from 1977 to 82 i think...the teacher in the clip was mick shultz..wonder where he is today along with mr edwards mr branch oh and several others ...seems like a life time ago...i knew the girls having a ciggy....more memories thsn i can share hear....any one else go to Faraday?

I attended Faraday Comprehensive Schoolfrom year 1 through to year 5, 1966 to 1971 after which my family emigrated to Australia. Yes there were rough elements but there were also many bright and clever students and good teachers too. Certainly the good students outnumbered the bad. To portray the school as if it were a gathering of the rebellious and unteachable is unfair and untrue. As with all schools at the time non-academic students were able to leave at the end of year 4 and go into a trade. Some academic students did really well and entered great professions. I went to Uni and completed a 4 year degree in Social Work and am currently a Baptist Minister.

Hello how do I found out about this school as I was I lived in Acton in 1974 and this girl who looked after me and my brother her and her sister when to this school in 1974. You can't find anything about this school the history has been Erased how odd
