How to Tune your own bushings: In Depth Tutorial
One thing I absolutely cannot recommend enough if you are going to be doing this is, BUY A PIVOT NEEDLE! Might seem a bit expensive for such a tiny piece of metal, but the amount of time it will save you (especially if you get one with the pivot index on the back) will easily make up for it. I'd honestly recommend picking one up even if you aren't going to be tuning, just a normal disassembly is so much less annoying with one. BaliStuff has them for anyone looking
What do you think of the Infinity? I had one with the standard blade a long time ago and I loved it. Now I have an alt blade and I don't like it as much, feel like the serpent gave it a unique feel. I like my AB 3.0 just fine. It's one of the few Balis I bought and never really felt the urge to change something on, probably it's because I got it already knowing exactly what I was getting into. I need to just suck it up and fly out to Blade Show sometime.
This makes me really appreciate the tolerances on my LDY Corvus. And it explains the price of bushing knives. Tuning bushings looks very tedious.
God damn. That is the sexiest kraken ever. No discussion
Box, bubble wrap, tape it in place, fill any extra room with Hi-Chew (edible packing peanuts), seal in sarcophagus of tape. Good to know I’ve been doing it right!
I wish I liked it more. Flips good but gets old and boring so fast and idk why. I do think each bali hes done since is worse. This was his best bali. Even the new one with the weight system I really reslly dont like at all. Like sure the blade steel is awesome. But it still somehow seems cheap and weird. The thinness is weird and I just dont think its as good as the medusa.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats such a good design tbh
Can you fix undersized?
I can!
I love the omen. Love the thinness, love the blade, love the balance. If it were closer to 4.4 or 4.5oz it would be nearly perfect. D2 isn't my favorite steel, but for the asking price of the knife it's perfectly fine.
I have a rep that is taping only on the safe handle. However after sanding it a bit the tap and scraping on the blade has only gotten worse do you know why this is? I even have a undersized bushing that I’ve used with it and it locks up on one side of the blade but the other side has lots of clearance I’m just so confused how this works. Do I sand the bushing for the side it locks up on or the side with more clearance? By side I basically mean the side with the logo scrapes but the side with no logo doesn’t. Thanks for any help!
Message me over on Instagram, lets chat!
Hey I have two questions 1 Do I need to sand both sides of the bushing or it doesnt matter 2 does the washer thickness matter? Do I have to do anything with it?
You don't HAVE to sand both sides, but I would recommend switching sides each time you need to take more off. The washer thickness actually does make a big difference so whatever washers you start with, stick with them. Sometimes if you feel like you undersized the bushings you can throw in thinner bushings and it'll bring it to where it needs to be. Hope this helps!
Tuned my blemished inked green krake raken 2.5 had pretty bad play bushing were a bit big and i only had 100 grit sand paper and said well fuck it. 10 circles each side about 5 minutes total from disassemble to sanding bushings to re assemble and oil with super lube and its just about prefect now. I know im just lucky because i could have easily over sanded but i wasnt about to sand a bushing for an hour lol. But for people new to tuning I'd say your right in exercising caution and using high grit taking their time and being very careful.
Good luck trying to get any of the 40 Dama kraken blades from squid, I seen one go for 800 I think it was a few months ago
Keep an eye out for the Hydro! From my experience with the prototypes at Blade Show 2022 it could very well be the "ti-kraken-like" knife you're looking for
I just discovered you, great content and reviews!
Thanks so much! I'll have to push out more content!
This *so* helped me! Thank you so much! I also love your “do what I love with what I’ve got” mentality. I respect that.
Your flipping is really good, reminds me of old nardath flipping videos.
Wow thank you! That means a lot! He was a big inspiration growing up
Hey those transfer Ariel's are really good, what are they called? I'm having a hard time figuring out how you did the first one to your offhand.
I'm honestly not sure if it has a name, I learned everything on UA-cam or slowing down my favorite flippeds videos
Jelly, ab is my grail 😮🔥🔥🔥
Honestly I would drop 1k on this knife sounds amazing
dang squiggle made some really cool clones of the reaper handles🤭
I wanna see some more flipping clips…..🔥🔥
I actually really want one of these, too bad they're only getting scalped secondhand rn 😩
I know, unless squiggle decides to make more soon
Reminds me of the Petrel. Glad to see you back.
I wish Squiggle would make more of these, he's been really inactive the last 2 months.
To be fair to Chinese makers, the reason they don't use True Link or USAKM hardware is because those are US-based sellers. And generally, they are just using metric hardware instead of imperial (M3 seems to be the most common size) and it's not too difficult to find replacements that will fit on, say, McMaster-Carr. Usually they won't be a direct match, since many Chinese makers appear to be using custom hardware, but at least it will do in a pinch if you accidentally strip a screw or something :) Nice review, subbed! Glad to see a review on a more obscure bali like this.
That's a nice one bro, good video 👊🏽
hi there! i'm the designer of the Omen~ thank you for your Feedback and Inputs! i'll try my best to improve the design and performance of the product. this is my very first product so i really appreciate the feedback! great video! ive been subscribed to your channel for a while, please keep making cool videos!
Blade design is super clean!
For a first product, you did a really good job! I'm excited to see what you come up with going forward
@@Sean_Jackson thank you! <3
@@ryanccc98 thanks for the kind words! and thanks for your support! <3
He's BACK
Would love to hear your opinion on the Omen. We have similar taste is knives and the Omen quickly became one of my favorites.
it's totally overpriced, just like every knife he makes
Oh no, not pinless again. Let it be zen pin please
das clean
Why did it sound better before the tune? No hate just wondering did you forget to oil it? Lol
I don't believe I even have a video of it before I tuned it up.
@@ryanccc98 really? OK then the other video must of been freshly lubed
@@reviewforthetube6485 This was freshly oiled.
@@ryanccc98 ok then it's just the way it sounds in the damn video haha. If you listen to this and then the other one of your shorts it sounds better in thode that's all.
@@ryanccc98 nvm it's 2 different reps lol my bad
Beautiful blade
ty buddy !!
Thank you Boss
Why does "tune your bushings" sound like something different?
I can tighten my bali and it stays with a minimum tap and it balances well, but after a little use it loosens again, what can I do to keep it that way and not loosen? That is my problem right now. Thanks for your comments Postscript: I have a kraken raken theone
That means that your screws or pivots are stripped. You can either get new pivots and screws, tighten em all the way and they'll be fine. Or you can get some threadlocker and threadlock your screws in place on your current hardware. Good luck!
@@ryanccc98 thank you!
the pinless design is cool until the harden steel blade eats away at the titanium handles over time causing handle slap witch there are videos out there about
By the first turn I would have lost three fingers
But why?
Yeah I agree, this shit is crazy and dangerous, you should stop!
@@MonsieurBalisong I think it's more cringe than dangerous tbh.
@@Rustyshackleferdish how is it cringe? hes just doing a flipping video
@@phantomduck878 cringey ass video
@@Rustyshackleferdish cringe?
Pimp dawg
Hellz yes
For me it's not worth the hype tbh.
I'd have to agree
Lately I've had the postage itself come unglued from the small flat rate boxes and the items returned to me. Now I insist the postal workers tape down the postage, and I carry tape if I'm using the self service machines.
When I ship something, it doesn't move in the box at all...no rattles or noise of any kind....a quiet box is a boring box to would-be thieves...and copious amounts of tape....always pay for insurance...except for prohibited items...USPS won't cover lost/stolen items if they're prohibited to begin with...use UPS or FedEx for autos...never lost a package, but being cautious isn't a bad thing...I PMed you on IG btw 🙂
Some digital calipers would also help a ton.
i guess you r the Gary Vee of balisongs ?
I'm honored to be called that! Thank you
@@ryanccc98 i'm not making fun of you but you lowkey look like him in the video lol
@@Lloyd_workshop I'm only hearing complements
Wouldn't making it pinless much much less durable? Like handle slap
