Barbara Stanwyck was such a great actress. I still remember her when she was on 'The Thorn Birds" with Richard Chamberlain & Sydney Penny. I love the timing of Barbara Stanwyck's delivery in this video you uploaded. I actually watched "My Reputation" recently on TV & I loved the movie! I love how Barbara's character told her Mom that she has behaved for the longest of time and that she wants to be happy for once after not being happy for a long time. And I like how she tells her Mom that she should've stopped those old women from gossiping about her own daughter - that she should've put a stop to the gossip. And then Barbara's character gets further enraged and reached a point where she doesn't care anymore & then makes it a point that she was going to do whatever she pleased & didn't care about people gossiping about her, her reputation, etc. And that her happiness was something she finally cared about and that she wasn't going to put her happiness on the backburner anymore longer. I've never used the terms "old biddies", but Barbara's character uses this line in this movie, and from now on, if I see some people being critical of & gossiping about other people - I may end up using that line since Barbara Stanwyck was strong enough to say it in this movie. It's just never cool to see some people being so down, negative, critical, gossipy, analyzing every move of other people. It's like some people don't have complete lives of their own & automatically meddle in other people's lives & business or engage in actions and behavior that throw wrenches, hurdles, drama, & obstacles to other people's lives & happiness. I can empathize & relate to Barbara Stanwyck's character. I feel like I can't breathe when I deal with some people who are gossipy, nosy, overbearing, meddling, drama-causing, butting into people's business without asking, interfering, etc. It's almost like having a Boa Constrictor, Python, or Anaconda wrapping around you and they're slowing suffocating yourself to death. I like open fresh air, open spaces, things that flow freely, lightness & no heavy overbearing stuff, freedom, loyalty, no fickle natured or fickle minded people or people who flip flop or switch sides & loyalties often, and room to breathe, & no confinement. When some people have overbearing tendencies and natures, it's just too much for me to handle. I feel like choking and suffocating when people are in my face often or in some of my friends' faces. Anytime I see the same people butting into people's business, I honestly automatically think of Pythons, Boa Constrictors, and Anacondas. When some people interfere too much, they just slowly suck the air & life out of some people. Anyways, I like this movie, "My Reputation" because I can truly empathize with Barbara Stanwyck in this movie. I've never been married. I don't have kids. And I've never been widowed. But I can relate to her character in that I can't stand it when people congregate and gossip about other people in public & in private, and who are nosy, overbearing, meddling, butting in other people's business without their permission, suffocating the life & air out of people, etc. Anyways, I'm glad that Barbara Stanwyck stood up for herself in this movie. She's no pushover. She's a strong woman. I like that. Thanks for uploading this clip. Have a nice week, & a good Spring! :-)

What a sweet scene - Vistaestrada said it best: with those 2, nothing could be better. And the film, in its entirety anyway, is one of the better ones in that genre. Wish the complete version were available on youtube.

Haven't finished with the scene, but I'm reading an interview with Curtis Bernhardt, and he calls it a comedy romance. ???
