Question: something is not working right, the "create guides" is not lining up w/ the lines on the page... any suggestions? -- Okay, I answered my own question... before making changes to create guides, first check the "fit to margins"... then set up... if you try to change it after, it won't line up... So, you may have to undo, and then redo w/ "fit to margins" checked instead of "fit to page"... make sure to be on "fit to margins" and everything will line up.
try to change from "page" to "margins" in the creating panel section

Why the hell cant I fit my baseline to my guides ?
Guides divide the pages into equal sections but baselines can go off the page so only certain combinations will align. 11 and 12pt baselines are good for US letter sizes.
In the window „create guides“ might be the option „fit guides to page“ selected. choose „fit guides to margins“
this is the best tutorial for creating a grid, great job!
Very useful. I was just about to insert a grid as a layer on a page - didn't even think that it should, of course, be on a Master Page, so glad you made no assumptions and talked through the whole process. Many thanks.

Anyone know if you can define different baselines in the same Indesign document? On different page designs on page master? Anyone know if this is possible?
Thank you, can I ask you, how do you know what size to pick for the margins?
It really depends on how you want your design to look. If you check out the video I made before this one, I sketch how I want the designs to look with a pen and paper. I do this before working on the computer. Then I create the margins based on those sketches. It makes it much easier and quicker to work out. Hope that helps.
