Hi I'm Nick. I have repaired and made things most of my life, usually to save money, such things as washing machines, dishwashers, cars, phone's and anything that comes my way, I like a challenge, recently I converted my van into a campervan. I find it really rewarding to get things working again. The vlogs I will be sharing are not how to vlogs, they are more like, you can do anything if you put your mind to it kind of vlogs. Just remember, if you're fixing something that is already broken what's the worst that can happen. Spend a few pounds and fix the problem or still have to replace the item.
I'm not a mechanic or a home appliance repair specialist, I'm just a bloke with a family that likes to break things so I give it a go at fixing them. So come along and join me on my life adventures, fixing things in my spare time and touring the country with my wife in the van.

Making an Executive rollerball pen from Axminster tools #vlog56
Making an executive rollerball pen from Axminster tools, which is a beautiful large pen. Some years back I made the executive fountain pen from Axminster tools, but I think this rollerball pen is much more user friendly.
If you wish to find the pen and the pen blank just look on the Axminster tools web site where you can find much, much more choice.
Thanks for watching.

For some time now I’ve wanted a beading and parting tool, but haven’t had the free funds to get one. So because I love a challenge, I thought I’d make one. I am supper impressed with the finish, it works very well and is as sharp as all my other woodturning chisels. Hope to enjoy t...
Restoring an old Screwdriver #vlog53

Rescued and restored to its former glory an old flathead screwdriver. This old screwdriver was given to me by my mother-in-law, it was with a load of old rusty tools, in a hand made wooden toolbox, like all the older generation used to make, for their tools. The handle was damaged and the shaft was rusty and bent. I love the old style screwdrivers, with big handles which are easy to grip, not l...

Hi mate I’m just about to do the facelift from x290 to my x250 Can you tell me please what screws do I need to fit the headlight brackets Thank you
No torque wrench in sight !
Ok done mine, took the airfilter lid off, also cut the cable ties holding the wires onto the fan, also when releasing the front grill after undoing top screws one has to put wide flat or narrow plier head and push the clip underneath out (4 of them) ,it was a pig to wriggle out the fan unit without damaging the hose pipes but if a R.A 65 yr old ex mechanic female can do it
150k on mine and the chain is still silent. Maybe you had a tensioner failure?
Personally I think my slow fan went 'cos I turn ign off with fan full on and turn ign on with fan still on full 4 position. But that's me.
My warning light goes off when I fir new fuse.
Fantastic thank you as just about to do mine, same thing fuse keeps blowing and checked I have wobbly bottom fan.
❤❤
I can see that the old chain has stretched as well . The arrows on the sprocket should have lined up with the darker marks on the chain.
Excelente vídeo, yo estoy buscando para la bóxer 2.2 HDI MOTOR 4HB 103KW del 2020 y no encuentro. Saludos
So if there’s no leak, how do is loose pressure ?
Hi, thank you for your comment. This vehicle had its engine removed to have a new turbo fitted. It’s not uncommon for there to be a slight drop in pressure overtime.
@@illgiveitago1239 any other reasons for pressure to drop without a leak. I have a Nissan trail 2016 and AC isn’t working. I want to fill it.
bonne explication bravo
Sure looks solid. Not seeing any sheet metal there at all.
Thank you for your comment, it’s very much appreciated. It’s a fabulous lathe.
Great vid thank-you, doing the same with my mk7 Transit.
Thank you for your kind comment. Good luck on your engine service.

About 2 months have passed , what is your word?
Hi, just found your message. I’m doing well thank you, have managed to get in my workshop, just sitting and sharpening drill bits. One step at a time.
@@illgiveitago1239 Got your Word , happy for you.
Good video very helpful thanks
Hello Nick , I hope you are doing better and the pain from your back injury has eased up. Are you able to spend sometime in your shop?
Hi, thank you so much for asking. I’m ok, recovering from an operation I had 6 weeks ago, now waiting for a spinal cord stimulator. Been told by the surgeon there’s nothing more they can do now. I’m hoping to get back in the workshop soon.
Inspiring, yes a garage would be faster, but nicely done.
Thank you for your very nice comment 👍
How the heck did you get the belt tensioner off? Got the bold out but it still stuck 😭
There is a little bit of movement in the timing cover when screws are fitted and left loose. This could mean that the seal could be of centre to the crankshaft if fitted after the timing cover has been secured. This may mean the crankshaft would be compressing the seal as it rotated. The seal may well last a 1000 miles before leaking. Best to fit the seal to the timing cover first, apply sealant to cover, align seal and cover to crankshaft. Seal will dictate the slight alignment of the timing cover
Thanks for the video, I am watching a few before I do mine. A couple of comments on the timing job. Firstly, you should remove the tensioner pin and allow the timing chain to centre everything before you tighten the 3 nuts on each sprocket. The reason the camshaft sprockets are on slots is to allow this adjustment. Secondly, if the crankshaft locking pin was correctly inserted the crank shouldn't have moved when you tried to remove the bottom sprocket. People use the clamp because the pin is such a pain to insert, you don't need both anyway.
Nick I hope you are doing better . I hope you are having some enjoyment in your shop even though you are not making video's .
Hi, thank you for asking, I really appreciate it. Not been able to do much, my mobility is very poor at the moment but I have my third operation in a few days. I’m hoping it’s my last. I do have some videos to put on UA-cam but I’ve been struggling with motivation the last 12 months. I can’t wait to get back in the workshop. Once again thank you 🙏
How many hours of labour did it take please - good video
Thank you for your kind comment. In total taking a few hours off for filming around 16 - 20 hours.
Great❤❤❤❤
Great video my second look of ur video. The first one was when u change ball joints. We have an Peugeot 107 (2009) Will change break disc today or tomorrow depend on when the package will come.
Good luck!
do you know what would cause the crank shaft pulley to wobble mines leaking oil and it has a wobble what would be your recommendation regarding fixing diagnosing
Hi Mike, if it’s the main crankshaft it could be the main crankshaft bearings, this is a very big job and expensive. You need to take it to a mechanic to see if this is the case. Just to remind you I’m not a mechanic and I could be wrong but the should be no movement with the main crankshaft, this could be why your oil seal is leaking. I really hope you get this sorted, I wish you well. Thanks.
@@illgiveitago1239 thank you i will have it inspected
@@illgiveitago1239 would a failed engine or gearbox mount cause it to wobble its very minor the wobble but enough to squeal
Mounts won't affect the pulley, unless the bolts are loose its almost certainly the main bearings. Could take the tension off and see if the pulley wobbles independent of the shaft.
Hello. Great video. Question : after replacing the chain and removing all locking kit did you try rotate engine and see if black chain marks aligned with arrows? I’m doing transit custom 2.2 and after rotating 4 times crank shaft my arrows not meet with chain black marks. Thanks
Thank you for your comment. Yes, I did rotate the engine and after 4 rotations No they didn’t line up. From what I understand you need more than 4 rotations for it to line back up. As long as the timing marks line up before and after chain replacement it should be all good. As long as the main crankshaft and the camshaft didn’t move. If you used the kit I used in the video you should be fine. Good luck 👍
Thank you 👍
Hi nice video, question how many miles did your boxer drive when you went to replace the chain
Morning, thank you for your kind comment. About 110,000 miles but the van had a very hard life before I got it, it was a parcel delivery van/leased vehicle.
Loving the special tool. I had to make one to remove the tank sender unit.
Just bought this chuck - Very helpful thanks
Hello, I'm happy that I found your video, I just bought a boxer 2.2, and it has the same problem, I was worried that it could be something more seriously, thanks for the explanations.🍻

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Have a boxer with 330k miles orugnsl engine si0 are they bad of an engine?
Thank you for your comment. I’m not a mechanic, so I can’t give any advice about any engines. The channel is named after me because I will give anything ago, hence I’ll give it a go. Thank you for watching the video.
Nick hope you have a good Christmas and able to visit and enjoy your shop.
Thank you. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas too.
Hello boss Good job done How many miles does this normally destroy Thank you
Hi, thank you for your comment. Like everything in life, if you look after it, it will last a long time. I’m afraid unlike this car, poor maintenance possibly caused damage to the oil seal within the turbo, which caused the turbo to malfunction.
Hi - like your videos (watched the one on camchain too which I think? - I may have to do soon so your video will be so helpful for my 2015 boxer) . Anyway the OBD2 reader - would you recommend the Nexpeak Nx501 for the boxer ? will be handy for me to have one I feel these days
Hi, thank you for your comment. The OBD2 reader is good but I’m no expert, there are better and more expensive ones on the market. This one works for me. I’m NO mechanic so please get expert advice before starting, it can be very expensive if you get it wrong. Take care.
Hi i bought myself XTOOL diagnostic machine, 3 yrs free updates but it cost me 750 quid , thing is if one has computer on their automobile it is worth getting a good diagnostic tool even if it can reset light ao u can drive to garage, but then am ex mechanic so no problem for me.
Nice job mate. Thank you for all of the information.
Any idea why the turbo destroyed itself
Well done, with or without sound 😉
Nick is your illness a spine injury ? Is it an injury from work . I understand you are an E.M.T.. ?
Yes, Ive had two spinal operations after an accident at work. I’m a Paramedic with 20 years experience and I’m about to retire due to ill health. Before my accident, I ran marathons, went to the gym 4/5 days a week. I was very fit. Now can’t walk far due to nerve damage to my left leg. I might need a third operation but I hope not.
@@illgiveitago1239 I hope the remainder of your life is as pleasant as possible and you enjoy your nice workshop for years. Nick will you tell me about your accident ?
Your Oak bowl has a nice chatoyer .
Hello Nick , your Axminster lathe continues to please you?
Yes, I love my lathe but not been able to use it for months due to illness.
Hey Nick , you continue to wear the Lord's prayer ring ?
Hi, no it’s to tight and can’t get one bigger.
Terrible idea letting people that have no idea about air conditioning play about with it on their own cars, always use a professional
If there was an arcing sound it’s defo the motor brushes. Also you might see sparks coming from underneath the machine
Hi how was the wiring harness Loads to take off or no
Hi, the wiring harness is quite complex and not for the faint hearted. Take your time taking the wiring harness off with photos where you can for reference. 👍
I’ve got an z trail hole in block u reckon I can remove the engine from the bottom or top
I lifted this one out with an engine hoist.
@@illgiveitago1239 was this x trail an automatic one? my one is an auto

I can see you're quite chuffed! Enjoy!
