I saw Neil Patrick Harris do this live in Cabaret and it became my favorite song from this show, which was spectacular all around and so different from the movie! But his version of this song so beautiful and haunting, him starting so quiet and timid and almost sounding like you’re in pain before slowly building throughout the song into this deafening angry roar...only to break off right at the end to the very last line...it was so powerful a performance and it blew me away so immensely I started tearing up. And if I thought that was impressive, when we went to the stage door like other fans to try to meet him the guard very seriously warned us not to touch or hug him because it turned he had performed the whole second half of the show after throwing his back out in the first half...but the minute he came out he still took the time to meet everyone, shake everyone’s hand, take pictures and sign programs before finally leaving to get to a DOCTOR! What an amazing actor, singer and good guy.

I love this song, and Neil Patrick Harris' is the best version I've heard yet. His legato line is simply stunning.
