How to Draw Ellipses and Cylinders on an Isometric Grid
In this video, I guide Year 7 pupils through the basics of drawing simple ellipses and cylinders using an isometric grid. Starting with a square, I show how to mark the centre points on each edge and use those to create an accurate ellipse. After sketching with pencil, the outline is completed with a fineline pen.
Next, we use a similar technique to draw a cylinder, and I demonstrate how to add realistic shading to give the cylinder depth and form.
This tutorial is perfect for beginners looking to improve their drawing skills and learn about basic shapes in isometric drawing.

Hi thanks for the tutorial. Why can't I make the circle touch the sides of the square perfectly even though i do it exactly like you.
Do you mean at 5:15 ? Could it be that the sides of the square are not equal? Make sure you type the measurements in, as dragging to size is not always accurate.

The problem is, we in IGCSE get only 7 minutes per design w annotations, the final product we get 12-15 minutes, doing something like this is very hard

This is amazing! I had one thought on the lid issue! You could have have the two semi circle halves on the side fixed to the sides and a half cylinder connecting the two that are fixed and sort of a roll away compartment for the other half! Just an idea
I had another Idea for the feeder, there could be a holder on the side for a scooper for the pet food!
