Pterophyllum Altum Growth Record
Переглядів 66 тис.8 років тому
This is video record of my Altums from September 2015 to July 2016. They were approximately 3 to 4 months old when purchased from Smith's Aquarium in Brisbane.
Práve tieto skaláriky mám i ja. Ale tie vo videu majú čudne pretiahnutú papuľku 😮. Je to veľmi neprirodzené a asi to bude výsledok zlého kríženia, pravdepodobne príbuzenského. Vyzerajú ako prasiatka.😓
probobly one of the best altum i seen on youtube nice full belly amazing tank
Angel fishes is large enough to occupied the entire tank with their babies fishes amounting one thousand in total is really amazing.👌👌👌👌👌👌🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Origin?? ORINOCO River/ATABAPO ????
Beautiful. I have one like that.
What did you feed them and how many times per a day? What was the water changing frequency? What is the tank volume for this tank?

Not whit the music pls 😵💫
What is that larger tetra?
Do they eat the tetras? I plan to get cardinal tetras to put next to my juvenile altums.
They look beautiful! What is the tank size here?
Cool video....
Hi Beautiful fish what kind of light you using ?
What are your water parameters? Beautiful fish
Dude, I wish you hadn't abandoned your channel! You have great taste in fish and music! Cheers!
Thank you. Well, I hadn't abandoned my channel yet. I am just very busy raising my babies Atabapo Altums which I have successfully spawned in August. I will update with new video very soon. Cheers, Mark from Oz (dude).

Altums and discus fishes are perfect combi👍
how was your death rate? how many died out of total?
What temperature you keep the water? (Taling in consideration that you have a plamted tank and discus in it)
28 C. Higher temperature reduces life span of fish.
Hey mark, Beautiful Altums. I am also from Australia and recently obtained a group of 11 altums. I wanted to ask what you feed your group as they look super beautiful, healthy and growing well. Thank you
flakes, 1 mm granules, spirullina flakes, frozen mysis and brine shrimp, floating duck weed, frogbits and rotting water plants.
Hintergrund zugrün.👎👎👎Amazona ist braun-rot
Alums come from Orinoco basin not Amazona. Replicating brown water is very difficult when you change 50% of it weekly.
Amazing 🐠 tank
thank you
I am looking to buy 8 altium any recommendation?... btw excellent tank bro
@@markfromoz4278 altums angel fish and discus are the most beautefol fishes on this planet (Nice thank)😎
hey Mark, I heard from a fellow altum owner they are very skitsy and difficult to keep , he lost his and gave the remainder away! how do you find them ?
Hey Robert, I've learnt hard way also and I lost them too for various reasons. I am rebuilding my stock again but here in Australia is very hard to get them. Currently I have two F1 Atabapo Altums. They doubled in size in one month (around 25cm in height now), so what I am doing now must be the correct way. Town water in my place is around 150ppm TDS, pH 7.5. This time I left TDS alone, no changes. Acidity is another story, I lower pH to 4.8 -5.0 max (I use hydrochloric acid in aged water to be used in aquarium). I never add acid directly to fish tank, it will kill the fishes. Temperature is stable at 28 C. Altums have tendency to become sick (bloat, fin rot etc.) and die when pH goes above 5.5 and no medication can fix that. I keep them with 7 corydoras, 5 small discus, and around 12 whiptail catfish (royal whiptail, R. parva and farlowella acus). Tank is 840L 140cm L x 75cm W x 80cm H. I've removed 8 Colombian tetras, they were too competitive for food. It is planted tank with some driftwood. Plant matter is essential for altums, they are omnivores. They eat spirulina flakes, discus flakes, frozen brine shrimp, mysis and rotting water plants. No stress in such conditions, in contrary they challenge each other very often and don't care about my black kelpie dog running in front of the tank. They are very beautiful fishes and if you like bit of challenge they are the ones for you.
👍🔔. Pozdrawiam serdecznie
Dziekuje, pozdrovienia z Australii ( greetings from Australia)

How did you manage to keep them with tetras? Aren't they a natural food source for the Altums??
Yes, they are natural food for any large fish but somehow they were not interested.
Those are Altums. I have a Scalare that I think has Altum DNA..its got the deep black bars and narrow body...but its not Altum for sure 100%. Its paired with a plain female Scalare.
Man they sure have beautiful color, have you been able to get pairs and fry
Nice! Are you in US?
No, I am in best country in the world - Australia.
lindoo!
The body and the colour so amaze ... did they from the wild or from the breed ???
They show full color when they are healthy, fed well with variety of food and secure. They've come from Germany so I don't know theirs origin (possibly bred ) .
@@markfromoz4278 where is your country ??
@@markfromoz4278 do you already have a lot of baby altum ?

Great quality fish!
Thank you.
Thank you for a SUPER-ANGEL-FISCH❣ 👍👍👍
Well done Mark
These are not true Altums, they have only 3 stripes. Altums have four or more
You are embarrassing yourself with such statement. Please learn about Pterophyllum Altum from those websites : finarama.com and issuu.com/maidil/docs/amazonas_20130102 and then you may say sorry I was wrong.
Number of tripes do not tell if they are altums, the size, coloration, and shape determine that
and you call yourself the scalare man ??? Consider changing your name, because your comment proofs you don't have a lot of experiences with. Every wild or original type of pteropyllum has 3 or 4 bars (scalares and altums), no more no less : one little one trough the eye, 2 big ones on his body, and sometimes a little narrow one just where the tailfin starts...So to start with : the quantity of stripes does not define an altum. It's the high shape, the saddle-nose, the body, the yellow colouration often with red markings, and especially the fine bright stripes on both sides of every black bar. So this is the real altum, even one of the best qualities you wil find.
Beautiful Mark! Are you on FB? Can you send me your details so we can have a chat? I am looking Altums to buy. Thanks!
very nıce Altum
Thank you. I have moved them to new tank and I publish update sometimes in January 2017.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Beautiful but why would you use such horrible noise.
How old are the altums? They all beautiful.
Thank you. I estimate that they are 18 to 19 months old. This estimate is based on other videos and may not be exact.
it's a Giallo ...the discus is about to get slashed. zoom outs for full perspective would have been nice but still great . thanks
Thank you. Your suggestion about zoom outs taken into account.
