    Plastic ice cube trays are handy for holding small parts. If the frame is all metal, try using lacquer thinner to remove the paint.

    Brake fluid works great, tool and is less toxic to breathe. In either case, leave it overnight in solution before hitting the toothbrush.

      Dont use brake fluid on this or kato....your engine will be in 7 or more pieces when you come back the next day....

    Has anyone done a full series on building one of these kits? I see gilmaur kits floating around but my confidence in building one is low and I'd like to see the full process of building one before attempting one myself. I'm not sure they make these kits anymore so I'd hate to ruin one by accident.

    Mike. I watched what you did with interest. I'm a Milwaukee modler in "O" scale so my parts and pieces are much larger. I've had success with paint stripper for metal on chassis components leaving just bare metal just needing a little tooth brush and dishwashing liquid soap scrub / rinse and drly with microfiber towel. Now ready for primer. By the way, have you posted the finished engine? I'd like to see it.

    You said that you didn't like those bolts sticking out that held the fire extinguisher bracket...you could either re-use the bolts/braket mount and put grab irons or a lift ring on the out side. You can also make a housing to hold some outdoor cb audio equipment if you don't want it to fill the cab.

    Facing the speeder from the outside. The wiper blade that came off the left side appears to look more like a style more common with older locomotives like SD38, SD40 etc. I wonder if the blade on the right was a replacement with whatever was available.

    You need to have fuses as a safety feature. However since you have to redo it all anyway use an automotive style box with blade fuses or marine grade box with blade fuses

    I suggest before you sandblast the head that you reinstall that or a sacrificial plug. It's probably not your first rodeo though. BTW it looks to be a 14mm x 1.25 pitch or slightly less than 9/16 in. If it was mfgrd. in Canada probably a metric.

    Those bump outs are for structural support.. otherwise vibration would self destruct. Buy a DX coil, well worth the money.

    • @Psychlist1972
      @Psychlist1972 2 роки тому

      These decals have exaggerated ink thickness, so they go under the paint to appear to be molded-in
