I agree with Dominique. Mavs didn't need to put specific players on LeBron due to their great schemes in the 2011 Finals. The same thing occurred in 2007 Finals. If you notice Bowen backed up off LeBron because the Spurs preferenced their defense in the paint...forcing LeBron to take jumpers.

In the 80s and 90s, the defenses were situated inside the three-point line...closer to the basket. So LeBron wouldn't have as much room to pass. Plus, LeBron would actually have to develop a jumper.
