Great point. I've seen a lot of techniques and embellishments from other styles manifest themselves in wcs. And yet somehow it all looks like a natural part of the same dance. Which is why I love west coast bc like he said it's complete freedom

Great interview Magna, your description of WCS was very good. I would take exception though about your experience though, you may be new but your WCS dancing is on a much higher level than you give yourself credit for. Keep up the good work, I'm a big fan (love my dances with you at Liberty) I will be watching!

@dancedesigner: Nice one. The history of West Coast Swing is only one of the most disputed histories of dance origins in existence. What would you have someone look up? The fact is many people have different beliefs on the origins and most of the reasons for those beliefs are now politically based. Btw, Dean Collins's wife also said Dean Collins didn't invent WCS. We really need a 1st person source dated 50 yrs ago, as opposed to a person alive 50yrs ago giving a 1st person account.

@dancedesigner First let me thank you for your reply. It may not seem so obvious therefore I'll introduce myself - my name is Cristian Lefter. I am not an authority in WCS history but fortunately Skippy Blair it is and she knew personally Dean and his wife. To clear this subject - Dean Collins did not invent West Coast Swing. Dean taught his own version of Savoy Style Lindy. Even more, there are sources that say that for Dean, West Coast Swing was "an abomination to the dance floor."
