Yeah, Valencia is OK, not great. That feels pretty accurate. I, too, love Architect and almost added it to the blind. I think it would rate 3rd behind the Private Select and Rio! The Rose finish is very good. I don't think I've had the Barrel strength. A lot of people like the toasted, but I think it's a bit too charred for my taste. Keep drinking Penelope, though. I think they do amazing things.

I'm from the Midwest. We love our QT. Also, yeah, that would probably be better.

I was not a fan of Benchmark 8... I still want to try the other Benchmarks but of course none are available in Kansas yet. Might try to find some in Tulsa when I visit later this month.

Looked in Tulsa but sadly didn't find Benchmark. Also didn't find Cooper's Craft where I'd previously found it. Unfortunately those seem to be disappearing! So struck out for the most part, but did at least find a Bardstown that a friend had been looking for.

I appreciate all that. I have been trying to pause a second longer with the bottle before I start recording to commit more tails because you make a fair point. I mean I only have to remember these things for like 60 seconds, I should be able to manage that. The proofs with decimals still get me though. Stupid decimal points.

I try not to use more than a cube, but let me tell you, a little water really helped that poor.

I prefer my bourbon that way, but that little bit of ice did open up the pour. But I will never argue against neat!

I know you can order it on their website (www.greatwomenspirits.com), but I think we got it either at Total Wine and Spirits in Overland Park or at Mr. and Mrs. O's in Merriam KS.

I'm happy to take criticism when it's well intentioned and I think yours is. I would actually prefer that I am on screen less. I have always said I have a face for radio! When we said we found a lot, we meant bottles in general. If you can't tell the section is LONG and there was stuff we can't find in KC even though it's only like 30 min away. We bought a Barrell New Year bottle which I'll review in a future episode. It's an interesting comment re: allocated bottles. This store didn't have many but they always have good store picks. They asked us not to film staff and the really expensive stuff was behind the counter. Still, I try to find places with good store picks and good selections because that's going to be true all year whereas allocated stuff goes into a few people's baskets and goes home with them. If that makes any sense.

It gets a lot of criticism and I think that's because we thought it would be Buffalo Trace in a different bottle. It's totally not that, but I did enjoy it.

Of course! Some cities take it very seriously and others don't. Most celebrations involve wearing green, parades, and drinking a lot of whiskey and green beer! It is a Saint's Day, so there are also celebrations associated with churches, especially churches named after St. Patrick.

I understand that there was a great famine in Ireland, Scotland and England and that many people left for America in search of a better life? How special that such a day is completely established, still, in contemporary America! One day, especially for drinking whiskey and beer, that must be a very special day, with lots of fun and tipsy people! Is it celebrated all over the US? Or is it more in some places where the Irish settled? I hope you had a great St Patricksday, and no hangover the next day! 🍀

Yeah, I was a little surprised, too. We mainly shop at mom and pop shops, too, but we had looked at them first. That TW was the only place we could find Still Austin and Compari.
