Prodigy
Total falscher Rhythmus. Sokolov spielt Achteltruolen anstatt Sechzehnteltriolen.
Wow!! I am doing zhis piece❤
this is a remarkable performance . I have lived with this music for 50 years and appreciate it very much
An anyone find this on Spotify?
A fine interpretation by GS, but I'll take AB version over this any day. ua-cam.com/video/38-S2bRo5rM/v-deo.htmlsi=_X2aVSjasUwtI9xm
I dissent. Love Sokolov, but I find his tone production and phrasing here unDebussyan.
I confess I only now learned that Papa Haydn wrote a piano sonata in C# minor! I wasn't sure what to expect, yet this lively piece is Haydn at his best. I especially like how he inverts the usual order of fast-slow-fast into moderate-fast-moddrate.
The good thing about Haydn is that he was so prolific that for most of us there will always be some "new" piece by him for us to discover.
This is ingenious
I was looking for this video without the clapping!! Now i can loop it till my hearts content
Beautyful
...and it was good! I understood this performance. I'm not saying I agree with everything, it's not my favorite version of this sonata, but I understood the concept and at least it wasn't as boring and it wasn't as contrived as other time.

👏👏👏👏👏👏 Bravissimo!!
Why is the 2nd movement so slow? It's Largo, not Grave. But the recording is very good otherwise.
Anybody here in 2024?😂❤
Mr Sokolov; this is not a Haydn sonata. This is the lions sonata. This sonata is enormous. If you don't believe, listen to Artur Schnabel.
Why do I hear boss music
This piece is heartachingly beautiful!
God of the piano!
Wow! Such Clarity!
Sokolov mastered it, probably the best performance around. Thanks for uploading it.
Try with Paul Lewis performance!
@@angelmontesinos4937 Tried it, thanks. A little bit too linear for me in the second part. Sokolov chose to play the 2nd part with this inconsistent rythm that brings out emotions, fragility. Unrivaled to me! ;)
I don't think ive ever heard a clearer and sharper trill than sokolovs
Camera guys on Gigue🔥😂 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
A bit of fluidity in the phrasing is good in this piece but this is just too sloppy, almost inarticulate. The last section is just too heavy and laboured. It should be light and brisk.

I always listen to the way the pianist plays the second episode of this piece. I like the performance of Wilhelm Kempff the best which implies infinite solitude. Sokolov's performance is close to that of Kempff. I don't like the performance which associates a blizzard, by the way. Thank you for uploading !
laboured!
If this is laboured perhaps you do not know what labour is.
@@johnchadwick3237 ah shut the fuck up, I have listened to dozen of pianists playing this, live or on a recording, I even play it myself, Sokolov is one composer that Soklov is not good at, period!
Haydn’s sonatas are unduly neglected by the great pianists. They’re gorgeous!
rondo - 22:46

His touch is amazing! His fingers dance on the keys like ballet dancers! And they make the piano sing!
Thank you for putting together this wonderful collection. For me, this first piece leads them all.
Dang this is fire🔥
thank you for this treasure!
I am working on this piece. I wish I could play just like Bruce.
I have to confess that this is one of those pieces by Schubert that never really won my love. Yes, he actually did write such pieces.
brutally played. what an insult.
Hate his articulation of the minuet1, but love everything else!
Stunning!
That second voice!
Thank you for this gift to me.
I came across this clip on facebook, and i was so amazed by the melody. Went to find the score sheet and the composer. The composer had such a tragic death. I shall play it as well as possible for him being a brave general. The pianist definitely captured this so well, emotionally and in every sense of it.
Just wonderful!
