Thank You!
Walter Zwol is the real thing
I can't say enough good things about this arrangement. Canadians are missing out on the history of our great jazz musicians, composers and arrangers. Phil Nimmons did so much to bring together a sound that was distinctive. We need to hear more!
Daughters of the band unite! My Dad was Steven Garrick (piano, bandleader, arranger). I wish I had more footage of his Timex Jazz days.
They used to be the house band on Dr. Bondolo's Pandemonium Medicine Show on CBC radio in the 1970's.
Anyone know the names of all the band members?
Gary Williamson, piano;
Tony Toth on Bari, Dave Caldwell, alto, Pat Labarbera, tenor, Phil Nimmons, clarinet. Terry Lukiwski, Dave McMurdo, Al Kay, John Capon, trombones. Mike Malone, Bram Smith, Daryl Eaton, Herbie Spanier, trumpets. Dave Field, bass, Gary Williamson piano, Stan Perry drums. Peter Leitch guitar.
Al Waxman introducing the band, nice!
We'll be playing this on Accordion Noir Radio in Vancouver. Big fans of Gordie, great to see him play!
Gordie was great and the finest person. I know cause I worked with him a lot. Hegave me my first television appearance on his show and I played Just Friends. I'm not sure I'd want to hear myself now but I would listen to anything by Gordie. He was the only guy around who played accordion like that especially in those days. Nice to know you appreciate him so much. Alvin Pall
Awesome to see my dad Gordie Fleming! What a handsome dude he was! And an amazing musician...
Used to go to CBC studios in Toronto in the late 50s to see Nimmons n Nine do their radio show. It was great. Free too.
Cool..!
Fabulous find... Gordy Fleming..
