Where's the One About the Bobcat?
Переглядів 2293 роки тому
I show how to use the index to Patrick F. McManus's stories, "Where's the One About the Bobcat?"
Copyright?
That is a question I considered, and is the question that kept me from posting these earlier. I discovered several other UA-cam creators who shared videos of them reading their favorite stories. It may be a gray area. I'm not earning any money from this, and I thought as long as I'm encouraging people to buy the books the stories are found in, all proceeds are aimed towards Patrick's estate. Patrick himself was very supportive of my efforts in helping people find their favorite stories with my website (McManus Index) and book (Where's the One About the Bobcat?, for which he wrote the forward).
Thank you
You're so welcome, it's great to hear from you!
Just when I started to think you stopped, appreciate it!
Thanks, I hope to do more, when I get the time!
I really appreciate you reading these stories!
Thanks for your encouragement, it means a lot!
Never ever get tired of McManus stories. Thank you for such a wonderful read
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
I remember reading one of his stories in a doctor's office back in the 1970s, and I had to put it down because I was laughing too hard! I have all of his books now! Thanks for sharing this story!
I had the same experience in a library once, yikes! Thanks for sharing your comment!
So good. Took me back to my childhood when we used black powder to wipeout Ant piles. We stacked three wooden matches on top of the black powder that's on top of the amp pile and struck the fourth match and tossed it onto the three matches and it went out. I decided to blow on the mats to get it hot, which it did and took off my eyebrows and my friend standing right behind me. Ended up with a bloody nose when my head jerked back into his face. Growing up was fun back then.
Glad you enjoyed the story. Those were the days!
been a while how's it going.
Thanks for checking in. It's funny how you imagine life getting somewhat more quiet and relaxing when you retire, but I'm finding I'm as busy-if not busier-than before!
Thank you for reading this. Brings me back to my childhood. Everything was relatively easy back then.
You're so welcome. It's good to look back on those simpler, easier times, I agree.
truly great-thank you!
You're welcome, and thanks for the comment!
what do i got to do to get you to do more stories
Thanks for the encouragement! It's nice to know the stories are enjoyed. The best way to help me get more stories up faster is the first link in the description. Thanks for your support!

Enjoyed that. Thank you 😊
You're welcome, thanks for your comment!
I remember back in 1975 when I first discovered McManus. I couldn't wait for my new issue of Outdoor Life to arrive so I could read his stories. My wife looked forward to it as well. She didn't care about reading McManus but was greatly entertained by my periods of uncontrolled, couldn't catch my breath laughter. Sometimes I would have tears rolling I was laughing so hard! More times than not, it was the misadventures of Rancid Crabtree that got me. The world has changed since then... Thank you for taking me back to those memories.
Thanks for sharing your memories. It means a lot that others are enjoying my efforts in reading and sharing!
I've never laughed harder and more often in my life as when when reading Pat McManus stories. Such a brilliant writer and comedic genius!
Couldn't agree more, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for that wonderful retelling of a story that came back to me so many years later when I saw an ebike supported bowhunter the past couple of days. No meat yet, but I wish him good luck!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your narration. So many great memories of reading Pat McManus around the camp fire
Thank you!
I'm glad you're still making these!
Thanks!
Patrick mcmanus
I'm trying to track down a specific mcmanus story. He runs into a mob tough guy who is interested in fly fishing, and Pat has to correct a number of his misconceptions over what is involved in fly fishing. By the time Pat is done correcting him and filling him in on what is really involved, the tough-guy decides he just isn't tough enough to try it. Do you know which book/story name that was?
Sure @scottwood9181, that story is titled "Many Are Called" and is found in the book Kerplunk! Glad I could help
@@mcmanusindex9677 thank you! I actually finally found it myself last night after scanning through a number of my audio books.
Patrick McManus is the best!
I agree!
Thank you! My boys never tire of hearing these stories.
Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you enjoy the stories
Thank You so much for the great memories of Mr. MaManus ,I remember reading my first story in Outdoor Life I believe it was, I'm from Canada and on my first trip to the U.S.A. I went to a book store and purchased every title they had of this amazing story teller.I enjoyed his humor so much throughout the years and still read the books from time to time. Thank You again for the great memories .David
Thanks for your kind words David! It's great to meet other McManus fans. It always makes me reach for a book and read some stories
My pleasure ,Mr.McManus gave me so much pleasure and laughter throughout my life,I did share the books I had with my family ,8 brothers that were all hunters and enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors, we could really relate to the stories Pat wrote and shared many evenings laughing about his funny stories.
I'm so glad to find your youtube channel. Pat's stories need to be shared with more people.
Thank you, and welcome! I couldn't agree with you more
Thank you

I'm glad you did too!
Nice! I've been a Patrick McManus fan for years, and it's great to hear him read so well!
Thank you!
Patrick McManus was a true National Treasure. Absolutely the finest writer of Outdoor/Hunting/Fishing humor ever to be assaulted by a typewriter ribbon.
Thanks for your comment, couldn't agree with you more!
You told this story beautifully!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
As a person trying to build a homestead with an endless sequence of DIY tasks everywhere I look, this was deeply gratifying.
I'm glad you liked it, and good luck!
I just found this. you brought back many child hood memories of reading every thing i could find that Mr McManus wrote please read the grass hopper trap
I'm glad you enjoyed it! The Grasshopper Trap is on my list of next stories.
Bravo! I would chance a guess that you love the man's work as much as I do, and your reading certainly does it justice.
Thank you for your kind words! 😊
Thank you. It's nice to have someone read me a story while I'm in bed with COVID.
You're so welcome! I hope you're feeling better soon
Awesome job, again.
Thank you! Cheers!
You sound exactly as I would imagine McManus would. Thank you for your posts. They bring a smile and comfort.
Thanks Jon, that means a lot! I'm glad you enjoy them, I'll be posting more
Perfect delivery. Reminds me of my father in law reading stories around the camp fire and adding in his own experiences growing up in the backwoods of Arkansas
Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad it brought back good memories.
Another great read, thank you, sir! - Chad
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely fabulous, thank you! Chad
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
You need to balance the audio on the introduction, its all on the left channel
Thanks for letting me know.
Thank you for reading these on UA-cam. And Yes. I do have every book. I used to read these stories to my children when they young. I would laugh so hard, they would have to wait for me to calm myself to continue reading. On a not so light side: “I was reading Mr. McManus last book “Circles in the Snow.” (At least I believe it was his last book.) when I had heard he had died. I sat the book down and have not picked it up yet. (On the page 56). Funny , I knew Mr. McManus was older and, older than I at 65. But when reading of his escapades with Eddie Muldoon, I never thought of him as being old. God bless you sir, oh what fun to hear his stories being read.
Wilber, it's the same for me!
Hi Wilber, I did the same with my children. They are grown now and they all still love McManus stories! I had the pleasure of corresponding with Pat via email some years ago and was impressed by how humble and gracious he was. Truly a national treasure. JD
Thank you I did not know how much I needed this.
Thank you Jon, that means a lot. Laughter from his stories has lifted me on so many occasions.
