Lost Maples Peak Colors 2023

A hike around the East Trail at Lost Maples State Natural Area in Vanderpool, Texas, on National Hiking Day, which happened to be around the same time as the "peak fall colors" time of year. This year's drought seems to have muted the colors, but this incredible hill country destination is always a pleasure to hike.

The second is a few miles past it, just before Langtry, called Eagle Nest Canyon. Good places to break up your road trip and see some interesting west Texas landscapes! Short hike through Navajo Loop and Wall Street at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. From NPS.gov: Ebenezer Bryce reportedly described his canyon as a "hell of a place to lose a cow". You may empathize with Bryce's frustrating search by looking at the labyrinth of hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park. Additionally, Tropic did not always live up to its name. Three out of shape guys that are scared of heights take on the famous Angel's Landing Trail in Zion National Park, Utah. Filmed in July 2023 with extreme heat conditions present. Bring your sense of adventure and plenty of water if you attempt this hike in the summer time! And be sure to cool off in the Virgin River swimming hole after you finish the hike.

TY for sharing! I will never do this beautiful hike due to being sickly afraid of heights. My stomach was turning and flip flopping as you were on the saddle back.

Just watching this makes me sick! I literally have to lean back as I watch it. 😢I am happy for those able to do this. I wish it wasn't so paralyzing for me. I'm writing this half way through the 15 minute clip, trying to calm the tingling feeling in my arms. Wow, the cost to see beauty!

Great video! I've watched older videos, and it seems like they've added more chain. That would be a must for me, it's the non-chain part that would worry me most. I have a kung-fu grip, from years in construction. Makes me think I could do it. Great job guys!!

the distortion of the camera makes it look worse that it really is. At least hike to scouts lookout. Then decide. It's one of my all-time favorite hikes and I've done a lot of hiking throughout my life.

That's funny, @@keithbond9423 , because I felt the opposite. The wide angle of the camera tends to exaggerate distance, yes, but it also makes the edges look further away than they are in real life. I think in most places it's actually more dramatic than what the camera shows. But still an awesome experience.

When i was there in March of 2022, it was so incredible, I was blown away. But there was a ton of snow in some places still. Wall Street was closed due to it. Just getting down into the canyon was such a thrill. But i really felt literally blown out. The thing is that it is all so high up. The ridge is around 8k feet. In some places at its southern end it's 9k feet. 300+ pounds me was really huffing and puffing in that thin air. But it's all just so very magical and stunning and strange. I never let the thin air keep me down, i was in such awe all the time.

Yes, you do need a permit to hike Angel's Landing. You can do either the seasonal lottery or the day-before lottery. Both are explained on this page: www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/angels-landing-hiking-permits.htm Good luck!
