BMW left for dead with a broken axle, test drive after rear swap.
LS swap GMT400 OBS shift linkage.

I was asked to make vid for how I connected the shifter.
What standalone did you use?
@@georvisdial6318 It was the stock harness cut down. I npw have a PSI harness.
How much did you have to shorten drive shaft?
Waiting on my 88 to get delivered I bought out of state, planning on diving into it fast for a swap. Was there any rubber lines anywhere on your system that needed replaced? This setup still working good for you with no issues with the higher pressure from an LS system? Great video and very helpful.
Did you use a regulator?
I used a stock 96 Vortec fuel pump. No regulator.
thanks for this vid bro , im ls swappin a 94 yukon & used this linkage the same way you did . worked great 🤙
Your rear lights worked?
@donjuan4925 on the older obs they have the reverse lights and neutral safety built into the column so in return we don't have to use the one on trans. I have 93 everything works with out it
Did u do anything with the fuel pump? I'm about to start an LQ4 6.0 swap on my 92 k2500
I used a stock pump for a 96-up Vortec truck. Those run at 60 psi.
What trans bracket this that???
Are you running the stock radiator?
just another LS swap, nothing to see here
Impressed with anybody that can switch out an engine, prefaced by "it's real simple, in my opinion"
What cold air intake are you using
Did you use stock fuel filter
can you tell me how to wire the oe gauges to the ls motor , the factory is a v6
Just wondering, if I was to do this swap, but I’m replacing the 6.2 diesel, with the ls , is it doable
Sure, fuel lines and gas tank need to be swapped to ones for a gas truck
@@LonH77 that’s it, also is there a wiring harness I need?
The gunshots made the video 😂😂
where did u get swap done
How did you wire your reverse lights?
I didnt.
Do they work ?
Did you do anything to modify the stock harness to keep the gauges ?
I know you said it was a generic cold intake but I can't find it on eBay. one that sits behind the battery
It's for a 2000 up truck, so you have to make it fit.
My truck doesn’t have braided fuel lines, do you think that the adapters will work still? If not what’s the next option? Thanks
Does anybody kws part number on fuel lines adapter?? From obs to 5.3 rail!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Part numbers are in the vid.
@@LonH77 @ really??? Didn’t see them
@@LonH77 @ ok , founded them
Great video. I'm trying to figure out the fuel fittings. I have the set up with no return on my engine.
Look at the Corvette fuel filter regulator. I think from C4 or C5
Where did you connect the switch ignition for the fuse and relays ? Because Idk where to get the the switch 12v because when testing it drops to 6v. So I need a location to where to connect it to
I'll have to look at the truck to see. I cant remember now.
How did you do your wiring for the lights
Will a 700r4 work with the 5.3?
I'm having problems getting a clear understanding on the wiring. What wires do I need to keep in the truck wiring harness
Same here lol
@@eduardopena489 @ smdid u figured out?
@@gerardolopez5875 not yet
@@eduardopena489 @ swapping a 4.8 into 93 obs,, Tambien
@@gerardolopez5875 I’m swapping a 6.0/4L80 in a 94
Hey bro great video looking to swap my 91 GMC would you be willing to help me out or even do the swap and if ya did take the job what kinda price would I be looking at
Only a mechanic or someone with deep pockets can own a truck like that I would stick with the TBI more reliable
Dude are you insane the tbi engines are horrible with all the idling issues and everything!!! It's actually probably cheaper to maintain a LS motor than it is a TBI engine...
@@joshua7164 na every truck or car have there problems older 350 Chevy are cheaper and reliable
Thank you!!
whats air intake part # please kikepep@yahoo.com
Is the transmission the newer 4l60 or the earlier version
It's an 03 4L60.
How’d you wire the junction box?
Did you notch the frame to keep the ac from the ls?
I didnt use a/c.
Those shots gave me PTSD 😂😂
Running the stock fuel pump
96 Vortec fuel pump.
Transmission fluid Burns, tail shaft is bad about leaking, truck won't start without neutral safety switch, can't see the backup without reverse lights, can just as easily modify bracket for shifter to keep(( black plastic shifter indicator thingy))
I just came to see if you found out about the Black Box on the shifter #neutral safety switch reverse lights, the search continues,
Where are you located?
Where did you get that adapter for the hose for that steam line to hook up to?
Jags that run sells them
I found out how important fuel pump year to year is. I got 95 Caprice figured 92 at junkyard would work. No TBI has less pressure than tpi. I broke down bought right pump worked perfect. Vats on LS swap kill injectors. So computer needs vats deleted and rear o2 sencers.
Awesome!!
What engine is this?
Will a 1995 K 1500 Silverado tbi 5.7 exchange /fit in 1991 C 1500 Silverado tbi 5.7 What will i need to change if anything. Will i need the wiring harness from the 95 5.7 or can i use mine in the 1991? Any Information will help.
Engine yes transmission no
1. Did you have to upgrade your fuel pump ? And do you have any part numbers for that? 2. What Trans are you running and did you have to make new cross members ? Thanks for the video. Think you did a great job
I use a fuel pump for a 97-up Vortec truck. I do not have the part number, I just told the counter guy I needed a pump for a 1998 Chevy C1500. I was running the donor's 4L60. I will be upgrading to a 4L80. I used the stock 88 C1500 crossmember. It's back about a half inch or so. I bolted it to the trans an ddrilled new holes where it landed on the frame.
Were you able to use the stock fuel tank and just upgrade the pump?
@@davidfink9729 Yeah stock tanks and sending unit. The pumps look the same and mount the same.
Can you post the link for the Intake??
First off nice build, I’m doing the same thing but mine is a z71. Not sure if some asked this already but how did the tbi sensors like the temp sensor hook up to the ls harness. Thanks
Start off by not doing anything with the tbi harness, until everything is wired. Just go in the stuck tbi harness and find your gauge wires. Depending on your LS harness you'll either reuse the tbi harness connectors or clip them for the LS harness. I highly recomend buying a prebuilt harness specific to your truck.
HAMMETT SPEED & CYCLE thanks so much for your response, I really appreciate it. Do you have any suggestions on who or where I should get a pre built harness for my 88 from. And who did your ecm. Thanks a lot.
@@dodgemayham2536 I'd go with a PSI when I redo this swap that's what I plan to use. A local shop removed the vats for me.
What intake pipe did you use and fittings?
It's an ebay cold air kit for the Avalanche donor truck.
Did you fabricate the motor mounts?
They're from the Car Shop. carshopinc.com/catalog/product/view/id/131580/s/ls-lsx-engine-swap-adapter-plates-engine-mounts-4-8-5-3-5-7-6-0-6-2/
i got a 90 sierra witha 5spd, really im only worried or wondering how the motor mounts will or will not line up. got any helpful hints?
If you use the Car Shop mounts they drop in. The trans cross member is pushed back about a half inch. I just drilled new holes in the frame. A lot of the other mounts have slotted holes so you can move the engine where ever you need it.
What clutch setup are you using for the 5 speed? I'm considering swapping to a NV3500
@@LonH77 I've read like I'm sure you have the update and downs to the nv3500. I just plan on freshing up the motor and probably a decent cam to spice it up while I got it apart. I still wanna use the truck for work like pulling the camper and what not so I'm not sure what kind of cam would be suitable yet. 350/400hp would be nice and the 5spd should handle that but anything more sounds like it's just a matter of time before it has a catastrophic failure.
As for as the clutch goes I'm do t gonna do anything radical maybe a stage 1 or something slightly better than stock. I'm going for a more relaxed clutching work, we did a stage 2 or one a buddys truck thinking it was cool shit but I didnt care for the sudden grab when trying to take off or riding the clutch a little bit on a hill or stoplight.
Where did you get the adapter for the steam vent
Jaguars That Run. They do S10 V8 swaps as well.
