I was at that implosion. I was stationed about 150 feet from the southwest corner of the building, kind of where the camera was when the explosion happened around 0:38. The Goodyear garage on the right of the frame suffered damage to one of its doors. When the first explosion happened we were all shocked to see that the south end of the hotel didn't fall like the rest..The demolition engineer actually went back in to the south end and placed another charge. When that charge went off, only the west façade of the building fell. You can see it at approx. 1:02 in the video. They tried everything for days to get that part of the building to come down. It was too dangerous to go back in and place another charge so they actually tied cables to it and used front-end loaders, fire trucks and other big machinery to attempt to PULL it down. I was going to Edison Freshman School at the time and several days later we were out on the field in PE and saw when they finally pulled it down.
