Grady's Oats - The Ben Stiller Show
Sugar, dye, junk and the Grungies. Ben Stiller was pretty funny before he lost it. Wilfred Brimley would approve of this message. What is the link between eating healthy and gun toting conservative radicals? Lot of subliminal themes going on.

Buzzcocks - 30 - 2007 Live
Переглядів 10День тому
The Buzzcocks live in 2007 just in time for their 30th year anniversary. This went from 1080i from the DVR to SD DV 480p transferred to PC then to DVD, ripped back to PC and then upconverted to 1080p, and in the end, held up not too bad. HDNET was one of the best thigs Mark Cuban spent money on back in the day before he lost it.

Smash Hits Flexi with The Skids & XTC
Переглядів 7Місяць тому
Supposedly a completely remixed version of The Oympian by the Skids & a recording of a rerecording of the XTC song 10 Feet Tall. Can't really tell the difference between the LP version other than it's a little more Lo-Fi. Haven't looked at this since the 80's, but this flexi disc sounded better than it should. Went a bit over the top for what it's worth, but fun to do. So many cool bands going ...

The person running the camera starts getting better by the end of the show. Band sounding good & tight. Did a light crop on the picture, but can't un stretch it vertically. Put it up in HD, not for detail, but to make it smoother & minimize pixellation/blockiness because it's slightly sub SD video.

Washington DC January 24, 1980 Extra loud. Unfortunately the source of this got squashed from 4:3 to 16:19 which a lot of people tended to do 20 years ago when widescreen TVs started coming out. Dong this with SD video loses vertical resolution and distorts the picture. I unsquashed it the best I could.

''Baseball and guns.'' Doesn't get any better than that.
I saw Ultravox twice on the “Systems of Romance” tour and was mostly disappointed with their sound. On “Slow Motion” in particular, you could barely hear Chris Cross’ bass synth at all (no bass guitar) which really took the essential bass punch out of the song entirely. This performance sounds much better.
SCTV sliced up contemporary culture like pastrami at the corner deli. The lampooning of television culture shines through on several levels, and everytime I watch these skits, maybe I identify yet another level of humorous criticism. These skits were more than entertainment, they were sarcastic commentary too.
1:17:28 should've listened to him, Andy!
Para mí, The Police, Queen e INXS (y me da igual el orden) 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
List: 0:38 The Big Heat 7:00 Twisted 10:50 Don’t Box me in 16:55 Salesman 20:40 Camouflage 27:29 Can’t Stop The Show 32:30 (New Version) Tomorrow WOV 35:09 Drive She Said 40:03 Canuck Song?? (I think he said) 42:22 Lost Weekend (Newer Version, WOV) 47:30 Passenger (New Version WOV)
This song to play live must have been quite fucking difficult
Mad line-up!
The only ultravox was john foxx. Still got a great head of hair
PERHAPS the best LIVE BRITISH BAND ever? (No FUSS, just three musicians...) I mean, ALL LIVE PERFORMANCE is good but THE POLICE actually took the piss? (They KNEW what they were doing even as they fought like Kilkenny Cats!!!) They BREATHED the same air... (EACH as good as the other...) No SUPERSTAR shows just THREE DUDES gelling and jamming... (Hearing each others HEARTBEAT...) Magnificent players... And GREAT SONGS, courtesy of HIMSELF! (But made GREAT SONGS by the other two???) Should have credited them for THAT WRITING and INPUT???? (*BAD STING!!!*) But WHAT a great band? xx SF
Kate fired her costume designer after this
I understand why the police got so famous they some how came up with pop sound appealing to the general public a new pop sound so to speak but to me I like some police songs but sting alone just average shit it doesn't apeal to me at all
This was sooo great!! Manna for Police fans!
1.Down in the sewer 2.Just like nothing on Earth 3.Hanging around 4.Golden brown 5.European female 6.Duchess 7.Let me introduce you in the family
I feel sorry for you, Lady Di havin' a mother-in-law like that
John Candy on drums is the best,
Brilliant! Just watched URGH the other night and it was fantastic with Wall Of Voodoo being one of the best!
dave should have kept the hammond in the tour van and never replaced it. the digital organs would /will never sound like this * listening to rats rally with the reverb *
I doubt they would succeed in todays market like they did then, which is a sad commentary about today's music. I like some of what is happening today but the 80's were incredible. Wrapped around your finger sounded great! Andy's guitar playing wow.
90 percent of their success had to do with reggae.Period.😮😮😮
Definitely my fav song
I love this! The video and music capture the mood of each other. Great editing job.
First time I saw The Zanti Misfits was when Outer Limits came out on DVD 20 years ago. 5 minutes into the episode, I kept thinking about WoV's Lost Weekend. Been rattling around my head since then and figured I better make a video out of both. Billy Wilder's Lost Weekend is also somewhere in there too.
Thanks for putting that up. Absolutely amazing!
The way he laughs at the "never blow me again" lyric lmao
Every day, it's better, and very happy Birthday to Hugh ❣️
Do you have any idea how hard it is to play an Ibanez fretless bass and sing? 3 extremely talented musicians, all three.
Early '80's Stranglers. Can't touch them.
Seeing this so long after the gig, the same impressions arise. A crowded stage rather than any artistic statement; a group of session musicians playing unfamiliar pieces - yet of course they weren't and were playing music they loved. But it looks and sounds flat and without energy. Foxx's choice to stand behind synths didn't help.
The guitarist is Robin Simon, who replaced Steve Shears in Ultravox!
Another worthwhile clip from this long-deleted disc. My impression at the gig was that the band was under-rehearsed and was unsure of their parts, which is not a surprise as they came together for this one gig alone. They were looking at each other rather than performing the music and expressing its emotional content.
I think I saw this tour in South Shields. It was pretty fine although I found the use of stage backlighting quite annoying as it was pointing in our eyes, and Foxx & Gordon were silhouetted too much.
It's a disservice to John's many fans that the original footage was available only on that limited edition DVD and has since been available nowhere at all. However, as someone who was there, the band - for all their talents - weren't a patch even on Ure's Ultravox never mind the original. I know that's Robin Simon on guitar but there was no sense of drama or excitement in the gig and I felt unexpectedly bored before the end. Perhaps it was the combined age of us all.
Just fantastic! ❤
Great documentary. Every time I hear anything off of Synchronicity I am back in high school again 1984. Still love that album to this day, was really their most brilliant work.
Great performance but not "entirely on analog synths", as claimed in the description. Guitars and drums are not analog synths.
Nice catch. I think I meant all the synthesizers are analog, but you are very perceptive.
why not record masterpiece theatre or mystery in year 2000s or late
All the teens are just standing there thinking “Really”
Some of the teenagers and the emcee are also in the band.
You Know What? That’s Really A Rare Funding For PBS (NY)! 😁❤️🔥
Paid for by taxpayers....
Good to have all the performances but as a documentary it could have used some editing. Shorter performance pieces and getting into more depth about their story.
まったく褪せてない
How did I miss this video for so long! Come on youtube
Sting is so tender.
"..She taxes me to death.. I can't afford me dope.."😅 🇨🇦
OMG! I never thought id hear Pete Townshend doing take you Higher
Interesting factet; Sting played a bass designed by Ned Steinberger on the bands final two tours.
King of Pain.. Stewart on Marimba..then running to the drum kit.. the backup voices.. the crowd singing some of the lyrics.. some keyboard. just enough.. Andy wailing a bit on the stratocaster.. Wow.. that's my fav...
I like the boing Boing Boing part of the song
Great post John, thanks. I really connected with The Stranglers at the release of Feline (83), like many ,I guess. Then I went back to their previous records, most of which I had found off putting, brutal etc. I soon learned to appreciate namely La Folie and other songs that revealed more nuanced sounds and lyrics. The mid 80’s (which this interview is dated) to me is their peak era. I still listen to these records without getting tired (although some sounds are dated): they are just great for the most part and a good reminiscing of my youth. The Stranglers as a band have always been a bit of a mystery to me because (despite their posing as the tough guys) you always felt something deep and mature beyond their characters. That is why I loved this lengthy interview: it let me discover 3 men that (were) quite articulate in their discourse, individually, without much contradiction, not complacent and sincerely socially, politically and historically conscious. And they made F*cking great music!
Hughs on fire here ! All the strangers are awesome ! 💜🎸💜✨🌹✨🌠
❤je ne connaissais pas ce groupe j'aime bien 👍 direct dynamique et ils sont charmants,,, j'aime beaucoup
C'était une groupe assemblée pour une seule soirée. Des musiciens excellents de The Who, Genesis, Japan, Ultravox, Led Zepp, Kate Bush, Procul H. etc.
