The animation in this song is incredible. Bambi's ears, nose, head, mouth movements are unreal.
I watched the first ten minutes of the first episode of the first season of the 2020s series ... and was horrified by the butchery to James Herriot's work. Shame on those talentless modern creators--stealing popular work and hacking it to pieces then peddling it for their own glee.

Heriot's wedding was in 1941. Wartime rationing would not have allowed either that cake or that much booze.
The thumbnail picture is of Callum Buchanan and Deirdre’s wedding in the 1950’s, (just before they emigrated to Nova Scotia). Not of James & Helen’s wedding.
@@robertsnare1411 Sugar rationing didn't end in Britain until sometime in the early 1950s, so this cake may still be out of place.

I wish they had the first Helen did and a season later made a story line for James to find a new wife. The way they did it, I lost interest in the show.

@@pennynolan7597 The actress quit the role and the show was based o n his life so his wife was still alive, Carol Drinkwater never had a problem with Lynda Bellingham RIP taking over and she was a great Helen as she was brought up on a working farm. I love both versions the BBC was continuing with the show but Carol wanted to do other things and I am glad we have 7 series and 2 Xmas specials specifically in today's world of endless reality shows and reboots of beloved shows as nobody has any talent to create something new.
@@julessherwood I do understand and am sure the new Helen was lovely. But I didn't feel the same about the series. I had all of James Heriot's books and loved all of them. Thanks for your input.

I agree with your description: "...the best television show ever made." I'm still watching it all these years later. I was surprised to hear there was a new version coming out because this one will never be equaled or bettered. I enjoyed the second series of shows as well (although many seem to have not liked the transition). I can't imagine a life without Calum & Deirdre in it (-: Shame the BBC just came along and took almost all of it from UA-cam. It's been here for years and years. Shame on them for that ~ during this COVID nightmare as well!
Does anyone remember when Tristan lit his cigar by striking the match on the 'No Smoking' sign? My whole family burst out laughing - a classic Tristan move. Also, the actor for Siegfried died a couple years ago, but during his life his acting was outstanding, I'm glad he lives the life he did. Rest in piece, Robert Hardy. 😥
