Paved roads are often still pretty rough surfaces...painted crosswalk lines however are incredibly smooth when wet. Cyclists often forget that.

A lot of Gravel Haulers are independants. Good luck. No plate on the front too or maybe just too dirty. This is when you pray for a red light 200m up the road.
