I would try and book a dive with one of the local charter boats in the Venice, Fl area! There’s a few to pick from, I like aristokat! Very reasonable and nice smaller dive boats with catamaran hulls and twin Honda outboard engines! The boat captains are super knowledgeable and helpful

There’s a book available on Amazon also written by Robert Fuqua. It’s about fossil diving in the Venice area. Very short read but good value and has pictures of shark teeth

There’s a parking lot near the Venice pier which is good. North or south of the pier a little ways is good either one. The gravelly areas shift around with the waves so always hunting

Unfortunately it’s a little too deep there for good easy snorkeling. There are some better spots to snorkel in this area!!

@@skybeard3713 good to know. I'm going in April. I know about point of rocks on siesta key, but what are some other snorkeling spots?

@@steffie3678 the lifeguards go home at 4:30 at Cortez beach at the three piers. On a calm day there are many fish to see under them!!! Also the rocks near the city pier at bay front park on the north end of Anna Maria is good, just be careful of the boat channel! Stay on the outside of that! There’s also bird key park in Sarasota that is good spot!! Rainbow river and weeki wachee river are amazing also but a short road trip!

It’s about 200 yards from shore in about 16-21 ft deep.

Pura Vida is a great dive shop and charter boat!!! Put me right on the lobsters!

seems like it may depend on the dive operator; I've been out of Palm Beach with Starfish Dives a few times, they don't care if you want to go for lobster but they generally have other divers onboard as well, won't go to specific spots for you, just whatever you come up with on the drift

This was a specific dive for mini season the two day sport season prior to the regular season. Pretty much everyone on the boat was lobstering or assisting their dive buddy!

I don’t have the exact coordinates. It’s off of 33rd st in Holmes beach about 200 ft off the beach. I have a regular open water scuba set up.

@@skybeard3713 At the 33rd St Parking. When you walk out on the beach, you will see a "No Wake" Bouy at around 270 degrees. You can see it in the video. If you start at the bouy and swim 230 for about 200 meters you should swim right into it. As soon as you see the plant life, you basically there.

I’ve never seen a shark while diving there! Maybe if your spearfishing and creating a lot of fish blood in water but just fossil hunting is ok!!!

Yep!! Sitting right on top on the way back I was pretty much done searching and was swimming back to shore!!

Yes, relatively new. I have been diving for about three years now and have around 200 dives in various locations and countries. I'm currently in my dive master training class now. Sarah had less experience fewer than 50 dives.

That's scary even at 50 dives, please have her work on trim, and basics. Clean up everything dangling from her as she looks like a swimming snag hazard. For your safety and hers. Thank you for the video.

I have a perception rambler 13.5 tandem. Its very similar to the Ocean Kayak tandem and slightly cheaper but still good quality!
