Riding the Cherohala Skyway on the Super Tenere!
The Cherohala Skyway is one of those roads you just don't want to leave. Big sweeping turns and stunning scenery abound! We rode through some clouds but for the most part, it was a magnificent ride. At the end, Bald River Falls was there like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Hope you enjoy the ride!

Tail of the Dragon on a Super Tenere!
Переглядів 9 тис.8 років тому
Riding the Tail of the Dragon on a Yamaha Super Tenere. I'm not a good rider so don't expect to see a hero ride here. Nothing to learn from my line either but you do get a nice look at the course and some of the sketchy cliff areas. Honestly, I was a bit surprised. The Dragon was more fun than I imagined it would be but it also was probably more dangerous than I thought it would be too. If you ...
Brushy Mountain Road

Riding with some friends on Brushy Mountain Road. A great road but today there was gravel in almost all the turns. This is a start to finish ride video. Also, please forgive the quality. I tried "youtube optimized" in gopro studio and it turned out like junk. Won't be doing that again.
Short Rides - Craggy Gardens to Mount Mitchell

A short ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway from Craggy Gardens north to Mount Mitchell. Audio is terrible due to a vibration. Covered it up with music the best I could.
Super Tenere!

Just a quick trip to the century mark on a lonely highway. Nothing special. This is more an experiment with color grading than a video of any substance.

Shows the lack of vibration when mounting to the accessory bar of the 2014 Super Tenere. There is some bounce but no vibes.

Super Tenere with Arrow Slip On Exhaust
Переглядів 30 тис.9 років тому
Before and after. Stock exhaust vs Arrow slip on
Wish Alexander County would repave that side. Still a fun road.
I just installed the same exhaust a few days ago, I have not ridden it other than around the block, I’m trying to figure out how to remove the DB killer, it’s not sliding out like I see on the videos after you remove the pinch ring
Did you succeed at taking it out? I have the same issue...
@@frankcafmeyer1189 yes it finally came out, guess I wasn’t “holding my mouth right” as they say lol
@@Ken501Doss did you do anything in particular, some special technique? 😄
@@schievezot just grabbed it with some needle nose pliers
Like the arrow. Without db has to be dope
Bike sounds awesome! What muffler do you have? Nice ride too!
At the time of the video it was an arrow slip on. I've since added a full header which gives an even better rumble. Thanks Paul!
Very nice sight with that damp windscreen, thank you.
My dream bike. That roar from that 1200cc engine is just awesome
there is a gear box...:-) why driving with such high rpm??
Sorry I just saw your reply. I made several passes through the dragon over that weekend experimenting. What I found was that by the time I shifted to third I was ready to downshift back to second almost immediately so on this particular pass I just stayed in second. The rpm never really got that high as I wasn't going very fast. Maybe a few times I was over 55mph and probably should have shifted but again, by that time I was braking for the next turn and would have downshifted anyway. This ride was a couple years ago and I believe I have become a better rider since then. I'm more confident and understand cornering better now. I'll go back to the dragon to see if I can get through there a little better soon. Thanks for the reply!
your like me a careful rider....
I did a 300 miles trip on the day I got it as it was far from me. 5,5 hours in the saddle and all I got out of it was a bit of bum pain but that's normal sitting for 5 hours anyways... and even that was gone in almost 2 minutes after I got off the bike. My dream bike lived up to all the hopes I had for it! The standard wind shield on the '11 model in its tallest setting is baaaaad for a guy like me - 6'4"- as all the air hits the visor... need to get a screen extension for this bike if you're this tall. - I had mine from my 660 Tenere when I rode the bike back home - . Managed to get 50mpg out of it at the speed of 80mph. Don't forget that this guy has 6 gears so use it! I don't feel the need for cruise control thx to the fly-by-wire throttle, so if it is not standard on newer models from the '11 then might should skip it, as it doesn't require any effort to keep it at a constant speed as you have to keep your hand somewhere anyway... I do 20mph@2500rpm in 2nd, 30 in 3rd same rpm, 40 @2200rpm in 5th, 80 @4000rpm in 6th, 90mph comes at about 4500rpm... If you want a twin exhaust on it , look up NONE exhaust here on YT. Costs about £870. It feels great even while filtering through traffic between cars.
Wow, that motor sounds good!
At that time the bike had an Arrow slip on muffler. I've since added the full header. Sounds even better now!
Thank you very beautiful movieRawhide highestSafely
You can tell that mentally you are completely focused on the corners because you never attempted to shift gears. Takes some time to get used to that. Your brain has to become accustomed to doing both at the same time. HOWEVER............I have been told that not being completely focused on the cornering can be a good thing. I have seen guys freeze up going in to a corner because they are so focused on it that they never even turn and go right off the edge or in to a guard rail. It's all about being comfortable and confident that those tires are going to stick around that corner! Ah...........the joys of riding! Either way............it is ALWAYS best to go at your own speed and ENJOY the ride. Otherwise, what's the point???
I love riding over this bridge!! Me and my family have been going down there for over 40 years now,and we really enjoy everything it has to offer!!! Very relaxing!! I would love to ride over this bridge on a motorcycle!! That looks so fun!!

What screen is that?
+david lassell Parabellum
theirs some nice off road down there... take parsons branch road from cades cove its about 10ish miles off road and dumps you right in the middle of the dragon... i keep hearing the exhaust notes i get more a more tempted to get one for my s10
+macneilsoberider The manager of the hotel I stayed at had a map of the dirt and gravel roads in the area. Man, there's so much riding you could spend all week and never ride the same road twice! I only had two days to spend but I plan on going back to check some of those areas out! I appreciate the comment and the great tip! As far as the slip on, I highly recommend it! I'll be adding the full header in April along with the PCV. Should make the bike even more lively. :)
aintgonnalie their was one spot or a few when you cut throttle in a corner and I yelled at the screen "stay on the gas!". dang, woke up the dogs, now theyre all barking. but the sound of that exhaust combined with that parallel twin....man I just found my next bike.
+cuzimaluzer777 Hahahaha sorry about the dogs! Yeah man, I've watched this several times and each time I find more and more where I could improve. Chopping off the throttle like that really upsets the bike making it hard to hold a line. I think there might have been a bit of intimidation going on there too. In the back of my mind I was worrying about some of those cliffs. I'll keep working at it though! I sure appreciate you taking the time to watch and the comment!
+Greg got away it's cool man. I ain't a great rider but I'm constantly striving, learning just trying to get better. one day I just decided to buy a bike , never having ridden before and went and bought one. it was a sv650s. I crashed a bit.lol but now I ride dual sport. it's pretty much all I think about. 4600 miles in 12 days last year. gearing up for another long one now. buying my super ten next week. subscribed because you ride cool roads!
+cuzimaluzer777 You're gonna love the Super Tenere. You can ride it all day long in complete comfort and it actually does pretty darn good in the dirt. I don't ride technical stuff but I've had it off road some and it inspires confidence even in a novice like myself. I'd recommend some crash bars and a skid plate if you plan on riding off road. Enjoy it brother!
+Greg got away Very worried about it off road. but the deal I'm getting on it is just too good to pass up for a bike with cruise control and yamaha reliability. was looking at a tiger 800 but it would be 2k more. although the triumph is lighter and gets better mpg they have so fewer dealerships where I live.
+cuzimaluzer777 Just make sure you protect it AND YOURSELF, and you'll love it off road! If you look around youtube you'll find plenty of guys ripping it up on the Tenere. I like the Tiger too. Just about bought an Explorer but decided against it after I heard of head problems with the bike. As far as dealerships, you can't throw a rock and not hit a yamaha dealer so you're good to go! Post some vids when you get it!
Do you have the part number for the Touratech mount?
+onikageka On Touratech's website it's number 065-0523. I purchased an extra adapter to raise the mount a bit so it wouldn't block the dash. You'll need to call them to get that part number.
Thanks man!
Looks like a fun ride! Great video.
+Kevin and Caroline Hey Kevin! Yeah man, a great time was had by all! Guess you've been busy lately but I'll keep an eye out for new vids from you!
Very kool ride, I cant wait for my Adventure ride to florida just sub 👍
+Moto Virus Enjoy your trip! :)
Great video! Thats nice that you nearly had the road to yourself. Last time I was trough there it was pretty choked up with sightseers, both on bikes and in cars....as well as Tennessee troopers!!! Your S10 sounds great. Does it have the stock exhaust?
+velvet911pk It's a lot less crowded through the week especially during the off season. The troopers did set up for a while but there wasn't enough traffic for them to make a profit writing tickets... ;-) The exhaust is an arrow slip on. I have an earlier video you can watch that shows the difference in the sound between the stock and the Arrow can. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and to comment! Take care and ride safe!
great video greg 😊 I love adventures man I am your 12 th subscriber you can check out my channel if want
+willmatic 84 I'll definitely check out your vids willmatic! Thanks for the kind words! :)
Beautiful up there!
+Florida Outdoor Adventures Can't wait to go back! Hope you guys come up here!
Brought back great memories, can't wait to get back up there! By the way I think you killed it on those curves. Whats your friend riding?
+Florida Outdoor Adventures It's a '13 FJR. Beautiful bike! Next time you're up here give me a shout if you want another rider in your group. I'd love to ride the Dragon with you guys!
You got it! TeamYahama
Y'all ride safe!
What Windshield do you have on your Super10? Hows is the wind buffeting compared to the stock Windshield?
hutch312 It's an extra tall (27") Parabellum. I keep it in the second to lowest position and get some wind noise, but almost zero buffeting. If I move it up to the highest setting things get really quiet but I look through rather than over the screen. Compared to the stock it's much, much better.
Excellent! Just ordered one. I have been using the MRA X-creen but it just does not seem to get rid of the buffeting and I still have to look through it.
hutch312 Try these as well. www.amazon.com/Yamaha-23P-F83M0-V0-00-Deflector-Super-Tenere/dp/B005GEGAA4 Hope this helps!
Yep, got those already.
