They should have not stopped the F-14 tomcat! .. instead, they should've updated it with all the latest avionics and the rest.

Another good one was the one that started with two F-4s being scrambled to intercept a defecting Soviet MiG that happened to look exactly like another F-4 😂

The canned pyrotechnic displays just aren't satisfying after you've seen real ordnance being expended. NAS Pt. Magu used to have awesome firepower demonstrations up until about 1980-81. They could fire live ordnance at show center and it would impact just offshore in the Pacific Missile Test Area range. I got to see them firing AIM-9, Zuni rockets and the M-61 gun. Once they even had an RF-8 expending photo flares down the runway. It was a great show until knucklehead boaters started encroaching on the range. The firepower demos were last-minute scrubs due to range security violations at the last two shows I went to. They just stopped doing them after that. I didn't get to see a real firepower demo again until I was aboard USS Enterprise.

Yes absolutely but make sure it's the super tomcat 21 variant more powerful engines way more powerful radar and electronics and heck a lot faster. DIck Cheney sure never had to retired a good plane like that, not smart.

My parents were ATC at Oceana in the 90s. We lived there for 8 yrs. I sure miss being around all that stuff.

It's been a while but one time we had two Navy pilots crash near where I live and they died going down with the plane in order not to crash into the surrounding neighborhoods.

Thanks dick cheney. The f-14 was replaced by the f/A18 super hornet and dump Grummans new super F-14 tomcat 21. Big mistake, the super tomcat was way faster, more powerful, was way more maneuverable, and more advanced electronics, but that's what you get for cutting corners in the military..
