Welland Traction Engine wheelie 2024
Переглядів 2,2 тис.3 місяці тому
Engine was stalling hauling a heavy roller. More throttle was applied which caused the engine to "wheelie". The front axle disconnected and the front of the engine dropped. A crew came out with a crane, picked up the front end, the axle replaced. The engine then continued without the roller. The recovery was not filmed due to a fire engine blocking the view.
Trevithick 1802 locomotive
Переглядів 26 тис.3 місяці тому
The world's first steam locomotive, the 1802 Trevithick. This is the working replica based today at the Blist Hill Victorian Town near Ironbridge in Shropshire, England. It is 3 foot gauge and runs today on rail made from steel angle. Originally, this rail was of similar profile but made of cast iron. The locomotive is shown here being presented and driven by Andrew Walton of the Denver Light R...

Im fricken 15 years late
It's Oliver from "Thomas and Friends"!😊 It would've been cool to see autocoaches make an appearance in the show. While it was cool to see Duck and his slip coaches (which is also a GWR type of coach), I think it would've been cool for Oliver to have coaches too, specifically autocoaches. Then, he and Toad wouldn't be lonely.😊
Dear Trevor, I have played this vid over n over again n it still gives me a thrill, great photography and sound recording, one of the best, your obvious love of the old steam era shows. Many thanks.
White Pass & Yukon No. 69 (Built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in April 1908) passing by.
Sounds like a man swallowing a mic
Gorgeous! Great work!
Standard Stoker Co, Erie Pennsylvania, USA.
Why do I actually really like the concept of a Garratt wearing a Hancock 3 chime LB?
Awesome 6 Chime, from what I've seen its a Cut down Brass 6 Chime on a D&RGW Bowl. The whistle used to be worn by D&RGW #471 decades ago but Im certain it's not a Reading 6, but does sound very similar.
Me when I got killed in a PvP war
Too bad they didn't keep it a coal burner. That's how you make a steam engine run. Big Oil pushed until they got their way.
I Wonder. The GS-2s, GS-3s, GS-4s, GS-5s And GS-6s Had/Have Air Horns To Pierce Through Fog. What Is 2926's Retractable Stack Used For?
To prevent smoke from blowing towards the cab when traveling at high speeds in the windy desert.
ina addition to that, it can improve the firebox draft
I don't care anyone else tells me. I'm going to say that this was the audio that would be used for 4005's whistle in one of Trainboy's vids about the wreck of 4005 Edit: Well, I'm stupid 😑 *has seen the link in the "Killing a Big Boy" video*
Why is it soo beep?
What the
It's 16 years later (2023), how's did the restoration of the Garratt go? Nobody seems to know!
It ran for ten years 2001 - 2011 now back in storage.
@@TrevorHeath Thanks for the update!
All the way from Facebook😍😍😍
Never see too many videos of mechanical stokers running, ethier the doors are always closed or it's hand firing. Would had loved if UP hadnt converted the 4014 to oil. Seeing it feeding a 150 sqft firebox at speed had to be a sight, if you could see that is without light shaded welding goggles.
Why is the atomizer and flame aiming at the door? Wouldn’t that be dangerous? If the firebox malfunctioned and the atomizer turned off wouldn’t the oil spit out of the firebox and burn the crew?
Because that's the way the air flows when going through the train (when burning oil) when burning coal as God intended, the air comes up from the metal grates under the coal.
Great video buddy!❤
What is even the point of those extending stacks?
If I were to guess, I’d say it’s to let the smoke exhaust higher so it doesn’t affect visibility in the cab as much, while still being able to lower for low clearance tunnels.
Cool
stoker. can't shovel.
When mechanical stoker packs up, the shovel starts working😂😂😂😂
The actual whistle seems like distorted or earrapes
I knew Steve from when we were kids, our families camping in Washington state
Was Santa Fe the only ones who had locomotives with these? No other railroad comes to mind when I think of smoke stacks like these.
I believe a few classes of 4-8-4 locomotives used by the Burlington route had smokestacks similar to this
the UP Big Boy classes also has a smoke stacks on them
It sounds like AUUUGUUGHGUGHFHHHUUUAH
What prop did you use
For those searching for a video of 6029 using this whistle on mainline runs, search for “6029 June 2019) and a few videos should show it.
I have to admit that whistle does sound identical to 4014 not completely but almost
Hammer
This doesn’t sound that great. 4014’s sounds better, probably because it’s in better condition.
Or, more likely there was only low steam pressure available for the demonstration.
A "Top Hat" exhaust stack is what this is called if I remember correctly.
I RESENT THAT
@@CoreythelordoftheIsles Nice Tugs Reference 👍
@@thegamingpikachu8885 thanks mate
Cool
The most beautiful locomotives ever built!!
I’ve ridden many steam excursions……..this one made an impact on me like no other.
What about the 4014
When will this engine be ready for excursion service?
It is ready now.
Hhmmm how much longer until it can be running on the rails again?
Very satisfying
You like a different locomotive
What happened to the smokestack why is moving
its fully controlled on the cab
Pollution.
Neat
nice shot into the firebox try not to melt your camera.
The heart of the King.
at the 7 minute mark they talk about this
ua-cam.com/video/DwXRylQ3BVo/v-deo.html
is that hole the automatic coal intake from the tenderbox?
That's the oil burner. UP 4014 was converted to oil firing during the restoration, as the coal mines that once fed its hunger went out of business while it was out of service. And the UP railroad had problems in the 90s with coal-fired engines starting grass fires along the track, which oil firing avoids.
No, it had standard butterfly doors when it was a coal burner. The coal would be fed to the stoker table just below the doors. That is an inspection port to check the fire without opening g the door itself and to pour sand in to clean the flues periodically when running.
Those stacks are ugly but at the same time they look cool
Slippy pipes. Copied years later by mechanics on two-stroke kart racing motors snd later, I heard, by four-stoke mechanics.
It needs to be cleaned up
Hey the number big boy not 6029 it is number4014
