VINTAGE & AUTOS 21 card SCG order predictions!!
It’s not that the card is thick that the light doesn’t shine thru it’s the fact that it’s cardboard compared to paper
Hey guys, you going to the Westport show tomorrow in St. Louis? This was the show Jake was at last year.
Love SGC
I have an OJ Simpson rookie i tried the light test on . When the bedroom light is on , i can not see my phone light through it. When i turn the lights off , i can see a faint light coming through . Any thoughts ?
It’s good. If it’s fake it really shines thru
@Dr_GraysGhost_420 thanks
This is why I buy only beat up cards. Why? If someone is gonna make a fake card then they are gonna make a fake gem 10 card. Or something 8.5-9. something worth a ton of money. If I find one that looks like it was used as spokes in a bike in the 1950s then I feel safer I got a real card. Faking that is not only a lot more work and worth much less and pointless to the counterfeiter. A 1950s-1970s mint card sounds very alluring but how many real cards from that age are around?
Ok. That's how to find out about a vintage card. What about cards from the past 10 or 20 years.
Thanks for the info
Good point about the texture. Luckily the fake card I bought off ebay was cheap and was advertised as a "novelty reprint" so it wasn't an illegal sale. These cards in fact are not reprints because those are usually licensed and put out by a legit company. They are more accurately referred to as counterfeit cards or copies.
Thanks
Nice video.....Go Cardinals!!!
Also the side of the card is brown paper stock along with being thicker in my opinion.
Correct.. I just commented about this. They’re cardboard and the fake is thick paper
Love the vintage pickups…nice one to cross off the HOF RC list…Gave you guys a sub🤙🏽
Great pick-ups guys!! Nice McCovey, Gibson, Yaz, Seaver cards. Yes, '71's are the tough ones as you know, those borders...but such a cool set to collect.
Huge fan of the MCovey RC nice pickup!
Awesome cards as always, fellas! Good luck with the grading when you send them in.
I would trade an 83 RC everyday for a decent 53 HoF card. Nice!
Nice pickups
Another awesome video fellas and a great group of cards you picked up as always! I still need the McCovey for the 60 set! One of these days.....
Unbelievable what you got from PSA . The guy who graded your cards loves you..
About your two ungraded cards. The Joe Morgan rookie is trimmed on the right hand side if you flip it over onto the back so that edge is on the left you can clearly see where it's been trimmed. You should measure the cards before submitting them. The current flight rookie is not miss cut because of the rough cut on the right it is miscut because it is a diamond angular cut on the entire card.
Yeah, it's pretty obvious to me even in a video.
I feel you man. My shows I get to attend are slim during the school year. I teach middle school English and coach high school football, basketball, and baseball. Looking forward to the national as always.
Nice pick-ups guys!
Awesome to see you back. Sweet pick-ups! Good luck the rest of the season, fellas.
People need to stop calling them reprints, and start calling them counterfeit.
Agreed, a reprint is something that the company makes, and clearly states it's a reprint. A counterfeit is made illegally, and passed off as real
Lol turn back the clock cards.lol
@@georgeriley4818Why does a “company” get to make and sell reprints? 😂 F them.. I wanna make and sell reprints
The yellow is wrong
Jealous.... love the Gibby Brock runs, I'm slowly building a Gibson run and then maybe a Brock run. Really sharp raw Brocks, nice.
Really nice cards, gentlemen. As I recall, Denny McClain was 31-6 in 1968, but Mickey Lolich who won 17 was the World Series hero. You have a great selection of cards that should be slabbed. Good for you. Thanks for showing us your awesome pickups. Take care, Rob.
As close to pack fresh as I've ever seen!!!
Wow, another awesome stack of cards, fellas. You guys have awesome connections to amazing cards! Well done.
Some key things to look for when looking at vintage cards are: 1) the centering-real cards are often not perfectly centered but reprints usually are, and this is true for the fronts and backs of cards; 2) spotting-real cards will often have small, white circles or spots here and there due to age or moisture in the air, but modern reprints won’t; 3) the back-the backs of vintage cards are usually darker because of age and often (but not always) feature ridges from the texture of the card stock; 4) the cut-as with centering, true vintage cards are also not always cut perfectly, but modern cards almost always are; 5) print patterns-vintage cards were printed with older technology and up close the print patterns look like blotchy dots, but modern prints are much smoother looking up close (usually this can be seen if you just zoom in on a photo of the card provided in the listing online). As a point of reference you can always look up an authentic PSA graded version of the card and compare it with the card you’re thinking of buying.
Thank you very much for the advice!
The light test only works for cards through the early 80s. Junk wax era cards starting around 89 and after often use a thinner stock and so a led light can show through on some brands.
Your examples of ways to tell don't help when looking on eBay.
Great cards, thanks for sharing
Awesome video, fellas! Great pick-ups! Can't wait to see Jake's set when he gets it all finished. Brody you picked up some awesome cards, too. I live the 62 Gibson and the 76 Aaron you picked up. Great looking cards.
Those were classic Cards, (pun intended). Keep them in great shape.
Nice presentation, Gentlemen. Enjoyed seeing some excellent cards of two iconic Cardinals. Thanks for showing us. Well done. Take care, Rob.
Love from Conway nice stuff fellas
Wow, Brody, your Dad killed it! Great cards, congrats!
Awesome cards, congrats
Waino, Albert, Yadi 🔥 Nice top 10 cards. Love the Yadi auto; agreed, miss him behind the plate.
Great top 10, love the Albert and Gibby. I was with you at the Westport show, get that Mantle there?
Yes, I picked up the Mantle, Brooks, and Foxx there. Was a big show for me in 2023.
Nice collection, awesome burlap border '68's! Nice Lou and Koosman cards! Ha ha
Go red birds!
Nice pickup. Good looking cards.
That's an awesome bunch of cards, fealls. Congrats on picking those up. Beautiful!
My favorite pick up of the year 2023 was a 1953 Mantle grade 4 or my 1956 Mantle 3.5 grade. I am working on all his base cards. I need 5 more.
Those are some awesome pickups! Good luck with getting the rest of those!
Great cards, thanks for sharing
Nice looking Gibby rookie.
Man, Jake, you killed it, too. So many awesome cards. I don't think I can even pick a favorite. Amazing pickups!
Just subbed. Love these types of videos. Thought i had subbed a long time ago
Thank you for the sub! We enjoy your channel as well!
