He is preaching, " Happy wife, happy life". But you can see that even he doesn't really believe it. Next problem; she gets to the end of the second book and decides that she doesn't like it anymore. It could even be true that the ongoing books are not as good as the first. So he wasted his money, as she will not be happy for the effort at all.

Wtf was that. Why is this guy acting like he is some kind of good hearted thoughtful genius because he went ahead and got the rest of the series. Big deal dude most decent men probably would especially if they are on sale. You didn't do anything special... And you can tell he is so proud of himself for. He really thinks he did something extraordinary. And being that he is such a great man and thoughtful husband He thoughtfully and altruistically used this wonderful opportunity he created. To caste some truly great pearls of wisdom down to his fellow men who may be struggling to attain the levels of a thoughtful good husband like him..... He is one hell of a great guy. You know he tells everyone about how he wishes all men could be so wonderful like him. Because the world would be so much better if all men were so thoughtful and kind like him.... I bet you when he got home he talked to his wife for hours about how happy he was for her that she has a husband so thoughtful that he bought her 4 books in a 5 book series when she only asked for 1. He being as considerate as he is probably very thoughtfully put those books in a very prominent place in the house. So his wife would always be reminded of how lucky she is to have such a thoughtful husband..... The man truly is a Saint....

Man these comments absolutely suck 🤦♀️ I mean his wife has objectively bad book taste but the number of people who can't conceptualise why this man would do something nice for his life partner is insane. Also they are like "she'll run off and cheat on you" as if she wouldn't be way too busy reading the gifts she's being bought by her loving husband to even think of straying. It's like getting a boyfriend who's into DnD. On a seperate note though, damn do I hate sarah j mass books 😂 I refuse to read them because they were just so full of plot holes that I had to dnf them. No judgement to those who do read them though, not everyone is looking for a compelling plot when they pick up a book, sometimes they just want hot fairies and over-the-top drama.

You could also just pay attention to what she's reading, at least enough to know the titles.
He paid enough attention that he was able to successfully locate the sequels and the names are hella generic as is (I say this as a reader myself). You are just trying to find things to be mad about.

Women really, not hate, don't retain memories of good things. He can spend $100 today, and Friday she would be crying about how he never does anything for her. They think to themselves " he called me pretty yesterday, but didn't today, which means he doesn't think im pretty today, which means he thinks im ugly" DAILY. As someone who has no knowledge of your marriage specifically, but knowledge of marriages, i would run your situation "Here (pet name), that book you wanted. I saw the 3rd book too, so i grabbed it for you." Now not only did this complete the task she gave you, but she got a little extra and is pleased. A few weeks later when that wears you can pop up with the last two "Oh i grabbed these while i was out, they are the 4-5th book if that fairy series you like right?" Which makes it look like you put effort into remembering her interests without having to, and it make it seem like you were thinking about her and wanted to get her something nice. You gotta spread the love out, or you'll get burned out
