@22:20 I am not sure how to do that with over 30 minutes of trying. All it does is suck in the sides , not straighten them.
So I just figured out. If you hold ctrl while you move it it straightens it rather than just sucking it in.
loved seeing your process. This series is helpful! From the sound it sounds like you're using only a mouse. Which huge props making that bicep look so good with a few clicks.
Nice miniatures! Great work!
Is this "Belt Straps" tool something zBrush comes with, or was it crafted before or bought?
Great series. I can't wait to see the next part, where you show how to make the chainmail...
Hey andrew, just wondering if your ever gonna release a video on how you make chainmail? There is lots of videos on the subject but none seem to work for miniatures. So far it’s the missing tool in my toolbox and I’d love to have the know how to make my own. Cheers!
When I load the custom UI it does not open the minitures tab on the side instead it opens a brush menu on the side. Do you know how to fix this?
Is there a way to use it in blender?
Looks cool.
Hi, so where's the continuation of the chainmail armor? :)
LOVE your videos! Inspiring me to start sculpting minis. At 27:00-ish, how did you make the damstandard go in straight lines for the upper lip border?
I heard mouse clicks for the most part... you used mouse all through the series?
Thanks 👍!
Really nice tut mate. I think what im most impressed with is youare using a mouse lol. In my 15 years of sculpting ive used a mouse twice and swore at my computer more than nessecary lol
lovely work Andrew.
Are you sculpting with a mouse?! You madman!
This guide was really useful and your end result looks awesome, you should make some more tutorials on sculpting, would love to receive any more knowledge you have to offer.
Thanks mate, will have more tutorials coming soon!
totally agree, this tutorial was really really good. please make some more tutorials like this <3
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for!!! Thank you for making these!!
Great tutorial! What hardware do you use or recommend for miniature sculpt? I'm studying to be a full time mini maker and will need a new machine (I have a i3 7000u)
He is using ZBrush
@@CarlosPrGr I mean the cpu, ram.
@@williansouza6281 Oh sorry, I had understood "software", not "hardware" hahaha
@@CarlosPrGr no worries :) it happens
hey man, i havent even seen there are comments on these, i havent had a single notification, so ima go through them!, computer wise i know nothing, these were recorded on a 2k$ laptop, i now usse a $4k PC i dont know the specs off the top off my head, but it was essentially a high end gaming PC, i asked for fast processing speed to speed up the calculations like decimation
I'm studing to make minis and this was very helpful. You have a unique way to sculpt that is very impressive
what do you press to get those straight cuts?
found it
I would love a video on how to create chainmail from the ground up so that I can begin to experiment and down the road have my on repository. Thanks!
it will come,
the fact that this is being done with a mouse is bizarre to me
i dont know how i did it either...
Thanks for the video, did you make this model with a mouse?
yep, i got a drawing tablet not long after
@@medburyminiatures9607, Thank you for the video, you make excellent miniatures, did you study anywhere, do you have a specialized art education, or are you self-taught?
@@reuegabe9037 i did a diploma off design, but not relevent to minis in a board sence, all self taught in zbrush, which is why my methods here are quite outdated, I will update these at some point, my workflow has evolved and my thinking on conceptual ideas has changed too,
@@medburyminiatures9607, Did you study anatomy on your own, or at university?
@@reuegabe9037 ahh real answer is bodybuilding, either my own training or watching bodybuilders
Thanks for the video, please tell me how you modeled chain mail, did you use a special brush, or did you model it yourself?
Can you share the method, how do you model chain mail?
@@reuegabe9037 watch his episode #6 Intro To Miniatures Sculpting
These are the best free tutorials I've found online for Minis in zbrush, they've taught me so much! So thank you! I'm using zbrushcore but I'd love to have a go at doing the chainmail as you showed. Is there a way you can make the file for the base mesh for the chainmail openable in zbrushcore instead of just zbrush? Many thanks!!
i dont think so, my understanding is it dosnt have the nanomesh feature
Awesome videos! I have a question, I am new to miniature sculpting and am trying to load your MiniatureUI.cfg file into zbrush. However, zbrush always crashes when I attempt to do so, do you have any idea why this may be happening? Thanks!
hey mate, unfortunetly zbrush required you to be in the same version as the one the ui was made in, its not hard to make your own tho and use mine as a guide
Awesome video! Im excited to start learning about 3D sculpting. For some reason I am not able to load your MiniatureUI.cfg file into zbrush. Zbrush always crashes when I try, do you know why this could be happening?
the version off Zbrush, for whatever reason it dosnt like UI's that are forward or backwards in versions, you can make your own pretty easily and use a pic off the buttons i have as a guide
that scale armour is fantastic.
thank u for all the videos u upload, it helps me sculpt so much
thank you for this video! Is very helpfull to me! I have a channel about wargames and from an year I tring to do models as you are done in this video!
50:00 hey why did you do that You could just press the intersection and all of you would have turned out the same)))
hey mate, it very well may have, i am not good at zbrush thats why! even now i havent discoverd half the tools
Hi Dude Are you sculpting with a mouse?
I dont know for sure but he will most likely use a drawing tablet. Most fine detail work cannot be done with a mouse because it lacks pressure levels. So if you want to start with Z-brush or modelling in general I would advise buying a cheap drawing tablet. For sculpting hard surface models for example in Blender a mouse is a good start.
@@niklaszeegers1599 he is using a mouse, it makes it harder. but not impossible with pressure levels, he does it via changing the intensity of the brush constantly
this was all done via mouse, i got a tablet not long after
Thanks for these videos (though I wish they were in Blender). I’ve always wondered, why don’t miniature modelers rig the character? Seems like it would make it easier to copy a new instance and re-pose.
the short answer is because folds in fabric have to be done per pose, the its like a cartoon you have to draw the folds each frame, you can rig the Tpose to make poses, but ultimatly your better off sculpting it imo
@@medburyminiatures9607 That makes sense, thank you.
as someone fairly new to Zbrush and digital sculpting that hand sculpt was like watching witchcraft to my brain haha.
Superb. Learned so much from this tutorial. Thank you.
thank you for this series and the UI config
first time seeing someone using mouse this heavy :)
i cringe looking at it too
Do the miniatures of the lords of the horses belong to the corps of explorers/outriders on foot?
could do, i dont remember what i intended them for
hi! awsome video :D! excuse me, do you have a video on how to do those chaimails intances?
i will oneday! since these videos, Had a baby, bought a house, married a wife, you name it, but im looking to start up again soon
I’d love to see how you made the chainmail brush and use it to make the shirt. I’ve tried a couple of methods but none look as good as this one. Really enjoyed watching your process.
I would too, I cant seem to get it to work with out errors when printing. im sure I am missing 1 thing step somewhere lol
@@Dannos3d i will go over it soon! ive been away, but im back
Are we getting an update on this? :) @@medburyminiatures9607
Did you create a custom menu? On the left hand side. Is it possible to export that?
hey check out the Gdrive link, it has the custom UI
Aprreciate these so much man! But, wait, you sculpt with your mouse not a stylus - next level!
how are you activating the lazy mouse when doing the centre stroke on the gamebson?
Nevermind! I never knew you could do that with the damstandard brush ... amazing
@@KnightsOfDice howww?
Nvm, found it >.>
That's a neat trick with the DamStandard brush.
I must admit, I skipped ahead to see the outcome ... looks amazing! Now to find some time to sit down and go back to epidode 3! :) Thanks for sharing Andrew, great to see your workflow and process. Cheers mate.
