Hummingbid playing catchup. No thanks.
but LVS34 has been out for almost 3 years now (March 2025), honestly it looks good, but should imo be better even if its only slightlhy. you watch Garmin is going to release the LVS 36 or something in 2025 lol.
Good stuff I just ordered mine…
If you're a bird owner with a ll helix units you'd have to scrap just about everything in the network and buy new because the explore and mega live 2 won't work with helix (and solix gen 1) units. Then do you buy a explore and mega live 2 or garmin with lvs34? To use the helix units and to keep it all bird products the explore would have to be a stand alone unit. Then it's no different than a stand alone garmin unit. Sad that they didn't make the explore backwards compatible with helix units. I think because of that people are going to go with Garmin which has been on the market for awhile now and most bugs are worked out where as ML2 and explore has lots of testing still to do to make sure it's working as it should. By that time M3 will be out and Garmin will have had theirs (LVS??) out and bugs worked
One thing to keep in mind. These are not available to the public yet. The only way to get them is to be sponsored by Humminbird or hired by Humminbird to do a video. So take the results with a grain of salt. I fell for the same thing with the original mega live. I didn’t realize all the videos I watched were put out by people who were sponsored by Humminbird
They are available to the public already
@ you can pre order them but they are not available yet. I called Humminbird Friday and that is what they said
Go to the various pages there are quite a few posts where people have received and using ML2
Thanks for the comparison video. Mega live 2 for myself
Where can I get the Garmin Bulkhead Plug? Thx. John Jacksonville Fl
what humminbird has is Minn Kota. And decent SI. But w/o Minn Kota they would not exist as a company. I do very much like the follow the contour function etc built into HB+MK trolling motors. I'm sure Ghost can do something similar but their market penetration as of 2025 is 5% compared to the amount of MK trolling motors on boats currently. Maybe 1% of currently deployed trolling motors.
How does pricing compare between the two?
Mega Live 2 = $1500 Xplore = $1300 - $2700
In Australia, the price comparison between the two transducer units is negligible; I expect that it would be similar regardless of where you are living ML2 USD 1587 transducer only Available Feb 10 LVS34 USD 1564 Transducer and GLS10 black box
So what do you recommend. If you needed to buy a screen and the livescope. Would you do hummingbird or garmin? I’m buying a new boat and new electronics. I was going to do Garmin Livescope with hummingbird 360.
I’m debating the same thing.
At this point, Mega Live 2 has brought the field to even. Buy the brand you prefer
@@PhilCaimaichelathe One boat network is the main thing for me, I currently have a SolixG3 being able to control my minn kota from the helm in mapping in drift and auto pilot modes is important I do a lot of casting at lay downs and trawling. I’m happy HB has the new ML2 out because I was going with Garmin for the FFS now I don’t have to.
so the brand new MegaLive2 has finally reached what Livescope 1 has been doing for years?...golf clap for Humminbird?
Its ok, but way far away from ‚this is it,! Not even close impressed
Nah im gonna wait until i get a picture that looks like an underwater video camera. Then theough the magic of bluetooth and AI it casts my lure to the fish when i decide i see one worthy. Thwn with an Ai generated algorithm moves the lure in the most likely way to draw a strike. Then all i gotta do is reel em in! Now that will be a fiahing experience second to none.
Try using Apex. More graphics details than Xplore.
Which hand pole mount are you using w the Ultrex ? I have target lock now but all the weight of equipment has significantly reduced too end speed and looking to reduce weight and still maintain functionality
It's our own Tackle Shack mount. Find them here... tackleshackllc.com/collections/tackle-shack-live-mounts/products/1054953?_pos=5&_sid=9ce82c09f&_ss=r
Humminbird Ripped Me off $5000 for a Pile of Brand New, Obsolete Helix Live1 Junk The High Class Organization then Blocked me From their Channel for Pointing that out
Looks horrible so much work
Sorry to much work to do the like fish is much chopperall th e time
That hoodie💯
So the latest greatest is as good as the competitors product that’s been out quite awhile.
Question….on the M2 screen compared to the Garmin, seems like a LOT of glare on the ML2. Like the old plasma tv’s. Seems that would be annoying. How was it for you?
We didn't notice glare. Very good picture overall
Totally pissed they obsoleted the Helix. I have 2, not even paid off yet, and they're now paper weights. Very pissed.
They are not paper weights is still work just as good as they did
They made a large improvement but haven't quite equalled Garmin.
Do you know that firsthand did you try the ML2?
@56igadget I have a friend with the ML2. We compared side by side, I stand by my statement.
@@mrrick3999Garmin guys will never admit it
can you get the blue background with the HB?
I will stick with Garmin. The bird not much better.yet.
Which mount are you using on the bow? Thanks for the video
That is our very own Tackle Shack pole mount. tackleshackllc.com/collections/tackle-shack-live-mounts/products/1054953?_pos=1&_sid=c9156a037&_ss=r
Gotta love how hummingbird amd lowrance release new units.....but aren't compatible with what you already have. Definitely a wow factor....WOW as in wtf!!! Sorry still competing for 2nd place and comparing something that came out in 2022 to their "new" product......shows how far advanced Garmin is and its affordable, and can use on A LOT of their units which are half the price😂😂😂
Unfortunately, Mega 2 isn’t compatible with the Helix series.
Just saved tons of money and went with a garmin LVS 34 bundle for almost half the price.
That’s what I’m thinking of doing. How does it compare to the Mega Live 2?
@@domenicnardelli2799 I don’t have FFS yet, I like the one boat network I have SolixG3 and Terrova I’ll purchase the new ML2 and the Explore for a complete networking package. The ML2 and LVS34 is the same price where I live. Where did you purchase the LVS34Garmin from?
Good for you
Is it really half the price?
@@benibarra23 North of the border here: In Canadian pesos lol, I picked up a LVS34 + Garmin 106SV bundle for 3500$ The explorer 10 + ML2 will be over 5000$. The bird needs to bundle this and compete with Garmin's bundle prices.
Thanks again Brendon for taking the time with me about your video . I'm excited about Mega Live 2 and will be looking for more videos with other on the water scenarios . I will reach out to the Tackel Shack for pricing once I decide this spring . Tight lines !
This is a horrible comparison or even a review, there is no educated premises just opinion of how impressed you are. No explanation of how it’s better besides how the target separation is better. Even though the fish are intermingled in the structure lol😂
I do not understand why people think there is a difference. It's all Garmin technology. Lowrance and hummingbird are licensing it from garmin. They're not doing anything special garmin owns the patent. Only thing I can see is that they are having different release schedules and I don't blame Garmin Garmin is going to come out with theirs first and then let the other ones have it.
Flat out wrong. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
I’ve never heard of anyone who has used a hummingbird and a Garmin say the hummingbird is better !!!
until the Solix 15" went $1200 under retail -- and like $3000 under what Garmin has in a 16". Not saying where. And the Mega Live 2 - is LiveSCope 34- if not better.
That Doppler color looks real good to my eyes. Cool video y'all 👍🏼
Not sure I understand your WOW opinion based on examples shown in this video... You showed a jig at 55 feet, sure hope ML2 can do that... THE REAL TEST: Put a 1/8 oz jig under a bobber 10 feet and keep backing the boat away until one unit can not show the jig.
Thanks for the breakdown
So the only thing all of us humminbird guys have to do is get rid of everything we already own and start all over by purchasing the new stuff 🙄
That’s how much they care about the customers
well if you want better FFS you have to buy a garmin unit and transducer and find spot for black box. or buy a new HB unit with ml2 and no black box. and neither will communicate with other units in the boat.
Who says you have to get rid of everything you own. Nothing has changed with the helix still going to work just as good as you did.
Hello! A poor comparison should take place on at least Ultra 2 and not on old Garmin hardware. You are looking for a comparison of Garmin to Humminbird, but honestly HB has no chance for a long time. And if Garmin releases a novelty, HB will not only clean Garmin's shoes as it does now, but will also wear them
Livescope runs on a black box why does the screen matter?
@@sonarwars clarity
Yes!! Total flop😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mega2 is more clear but the 2,5 years old 34 still shows more details.
I thought watching the lure it stood out better on the HB
@@fishingnetwork8771Garmin guys won't admit it
So humminbird mostly caught up to Garmin, except bait tracking is still kinda poor. Honestly been a Humminbird guy and still own 7 units, but I just bought a Garmin LVS34 after seeing these videos. I can buy a Livescope for $900 complete vs $3000 for Humminbird? No thanks
@@trevorselch5574 where are you getting lvs34 setups for 900$?
900 vs 3000 is not comparable, 900 gets very low pixel that honestly sucks,, not say bird is better but cheap is just that cheap
you can get Solix 15" for $2500 on the web. No way you can get that with Garmin (5000 plus for 16") -- and MEga Live 2 which is comparable to 34. Do the math.
The bait tracking on the ml2 is awesome just as good and maybe better than Garmin
@@trevorselch5574 Garbage 😂
Watching you compare the lure tracking between the two, much easier to see on the Garmin. You lost the bait in the first half of the water column on the ML2 where you could see it enter the water and hit the bottom on the Garmin. Keep in mind you’re comparing a 2025 product in ML2 to an almost 3 year old product with the lvs34. If the rumor mill is true about Garmin dropping another version of livescope 🤯
im willing to bet money its because he has the garmin mounted above the hummingbird. if he mounted it higher you would see the splash
Also have to keep in mind he’s been messing with the settings on the garmin for 3 years and probably has it perfect vs 30 minutes on the hummingbird
@@fishinfrenzy2544 his settings on the livescope weren’t ideal for showing off. Running noise rejection on high for example, it slows down the images and filters out a ton of data
@ he probably had to cause of interference from the 2 transducers anyways I agree garmin is better but you can’t compare them at the same time with 1 mounted higher
GARMIN has the government patent and they have 2 new technologies all ready built there always 2 steps ahead just wait for the new GARMIN
Wait for the new is everyone's comparison? If you can cast a bottom bait that you majority of the time fish with 130 ft good luck . The facts are in the video the mega live 2 is 90% on par with the Garmin. Just wait till Garmin does come out with their new one and it's not compatible with what you have you'll be buying a whole new setup again just like the Humminbird Helix users . Both lvs 34 and the ML 2 are great and will do and cover 100 % of anyone's fishing needs.
Now where did you get that info
We is the Explorer an Mega Live 2 coming out
We should have them in 2 weeks or less
@tackleshacktvmiddlebury ok what is the total price i am wanting one
Head to our website. They are listed and ready to purchase. www.tackleshackllc.com
@tackleshacktvmiddlebury it will be Monday there 2 options What the difference with 1400 vs 1200 what the difference
@alonelysnakeinvr587 one is control head only, the other comes with a transducer.
Thanks for braving the weather to present this. I have ML1 as well as LVS32 and LVS34 and used them side-by-side. I crappie fish and fish for Stripers (and Hybrids) most of the time. While the range on ML1 was not as good LVS32, I found ML1 was acceptable fishing in open water. Crappie fishing with jigs in brush piles was a different story. The Sensitivity on ML1 had to be turned up very high in order to see the 1/32 oz. Crappie jigs. The high sensitivity setting would blow out the details on the brush piles and made the ML1 performance un-acceptable. ML1 did a poor job also when the algae appeared … could not eliminate it and still see the baits. The next time you go out, spot lock over a brush pile and drop a small jig in it and check out the view.
Just wait til GARMIN comes out with their NEW UNIT IT will blow this away and they allready have it ready to roll
I think so 2
There is any public info about it?
Yup I’m waiting for it hopefully out before spring time
And they have 1000’s of helix customers waiting to jump on board.
I am angry with hummin they let us down
Great video mate, I’m waiting for the Humminbird ML2 to arrive in Australia late January, I just updated my Solix G3 with the latest firmware update and it is very impressive.
The new update is by far the best one! Really clean and simple interface and seems faster. Feels like I got a new unit haha
@ yes 100% agree, it’s fantastic 👍
Great video. Thanks for braving the elements to give us an early look at Xplore and Mega Live 2 compared to the LVS34
Я разочарован в колибри.
Awesome video! Have you used it in down mode? A lot of us Northern folk jig vertically in the winter in down mode but some lakes have a bad interference ring
