Rebecca, pat yourself on the back! Showing restraint in impulse spending is leading you to the goals and life you want without stress of debt. So many channels where people live on a tight budget, when they come into money, blow it in a big trip or something. That's the best way to stay poor and in debt. Although we are in a place (and age) now that we can do as we please, I still won't allow myself to get ripped off on junk at movie theaters, drinks at restaurants, etc. And I don't feel deprived whatsoever. I feel smart. I think a job at the school is a great idea because as you say, you never know if a spouse gets laid off, hours cut, etc. I believe part time for women is the best of both worlds and good for mental health too. I think you would do great as you are so organized. I am amazed at how clean your home always looks with 8 people.

I almost traded in my minivan and got an SUV. My van is a 2019 and i still have a payment, but it was the last pre divorce purchase i made. I did the pre-approval online and looked at a few things but vehicles are so freaking expensive and I'd end up with a bigger payment so i decided against it.
