not listening to your guys thank you for the advice I am very happy about Jessie she helping me a lots by me eating in the right order, about foods what you put in your body it what you get with the health lots of people not very understanding why they unhealthy and why they always ill it is to do with foods what you put in and you unwell if you eat all the bad foods
it is anything but unbiased, though
Talk about a messy group.... Far from unbiased or science based for that matter. You sound like a group of children.
Hello, Madam I’m a professional Digital Marketer and SEO Expert, and I recently came across your amazing content. I can see the effort and creativity you put into your videos, which is fantastic! However, I noticed that your videos aren't fully optimized for SEO, which might be holding them back from reaching a larger audience. With proper SEO tweaks-like optimizing titles, descriptions, tags, and thumbnails-your videos can gain significantly more views and attract the right audience. I'd love to help you grow your channel organically and effectively! As a start, I can optimize one of your videos for free, so you can see the results firsthand. Let me know if you’re interested!
Thanks for providing excellent information
Benzodiazepines can be your friends?! Not sure about that...
A great listen!
Good discussion and information here. Stop obsessing about glucose. No evidence normal spikes in healthy people are something to avoid. Most of the gains for diabetics is getting A1c to the 6-7 range.
Another wonderful session, doctors! I am so glad I found this channel. I am wondering: the video caption mentions Dr. Sam Smith, while the description text and the video mentions Dr Sam Scott. Which is correct?
That was our goof! Typo in the video title, now fixed! Thanks for listening!
Thanks!
Disappointing you are not working alongside this wonderful woman. As they say a prophet is not honoured in their own hometown. She is not critical or judgemental of other experts other than the Food Industry . Constructive criticism is fine but I detect inverted snobbery . Be kinder hey ?!
I'm glad to see this video on the gut microbiome. Nice work.
I can't wait for this one. I keep attending these events by my specialty where all the lectures about microbiome in the skin are from these industry sponsored doctors who clearly don't know what they're talking about.
I'm still thrown off my the application of yogurt in... eh... the "nether region." 😅
Sorry I never comment on youtube videos, but I was so disappointed with this one. I was expecting, per the title, a "deep dive into the glucose goddess". The majority of her content is dietary advice. This isn't even mentioned until 37 mins in, when Dr Muscles makes an offhand comment along the lines of "oh yeah the diet stuff is good but everyone knows that" ... yeah. Maybe in healthnut circles but for the rest of us it's bloody useful. You all got so excited about potentially valid criticism of her supplement that it was over laboured and took half the pod when it didn't need to. The rest was honestly a painful mix of you all talking over each other, top right lady repeating what Dr Muscles had just said, sibling rivalry, everyone getting frustrated and almost no productive or relevant discussion. This was really unfortunate because like I say, I was hoping for a serious and genuinely unbiased look at the body of her work not a bunch of egos solely interested in proving they're the smartest kid in the classroom.
Thank you for covering this episode and bringing your expertise and research to the table. I've been pretty won over by the GGM and wanted to seek out valid criticism to weigh into my decision to pursue it longterm. Did not expect her scientific method and data collection to turn up so many concerns, but it does put things into perspective. Also I'm glad you brought forth the information about diabetes (something I'm trying to prevent in doing this), as i did not understand the relationship between glucose spikes and diabetes risks. Having said that, let me set the record straight that Inchauspe does not push her supplements all that hard. In her new book, she didn't even mention them once, because they were likely not even released yet. Nor does she push any of her guidelines in general that hard. She's built lots of flexibility and personal choice into her method. She allows you to make choices, but presents options for you to strategize better. It really seemed like you 4 were grasping at straws, trying to pin her on those things, and maybe giving a listener whose never consumed her content The wrong information about her methodology. She also doesn't push getting a monitor as hard as you made it seem. I question the integrity of the channel's editors, and feel like the language is inflammatory or sensationalized rage bait to throw out the term pseudo science like that before explaining your rationale. Why GGs work is well received is that is accessible science. She makes the biological explanations easy to understand. She grants freedom and fights restriction. I get that any kind of perfectionism in dietary regimen can be made to be disordered, but to come out and accuse her of creating a disordered eating structure is hyperbolic. This is pretty lenient as far as diets go, and it gets people to eat more veggies, protein, and healthy fats, while training folks to thoughtfully consume starches and sugars and move more. I don't think there was much time focused on that aspect because it is not a bad as y'all made it out to seem. But that is the majority of her teachings. Not her supplements, which she barely promotes for about 30 seconds. I do want to put myself at less risk for diabetes, but I think this is a great start! I feel less crashes and less cravings so I'm going to keep at it.
Do better! This is more of an attack than a critique. Jessie’s hacks have real applicable power to them. Here all four of you offer no valuable information whatsoever. Perhaps making your own products to sell would you take care of your jealousy.
First off I want to say that I fully believed in adding fluoride to drinking water and came to the podcast expecting that belief to be reinforced. However... I am shocked at the low quality of analysis being provided. * What in the world does bringing up emotional IQ have to do with the dropping of the IQ that was measured? Answer: Absolutely nothing. * You can't dismiss a lowering of 2-5 IQ points by saying it's irrelevant next to the normal range of 85 to 114 IQ points. That normal range only represents 68% of the population, meaning that 32% are already outside it. In addition, high lead exposure has dropped IQ points by an average of 2.6 points. Are you going to say that's insignificant too and advocate bringing back leaded paint and gasoline?!? * The analysis that they *feel* tooth decay must also reduce IQ because _"the teeth are close to the brain"_ is beyond embarrassing, especially for a podcast priding itself on following the scientific method. I wanted to, and did originally, subscribe to this channel because I thought it would be a good source of information. However this episode has completely ruined its credibility and made me go looking elsewhere for my medical fact checking. There was simply too much objectivity lacking in its supposedly objective analysis. Btw I still have no problem with fluoride in drinking water because the report didn't apply to the intentionally added levels in the US's water supply. That was the only objective analysis that could be said about it. It does appear that higher levels will lower IQ points a significant amount, and studies should be done to see if cumulative fluoride levels can reach that amount, or an amount that would affect IQ levels. You can't handwave away the concern about that second part by bringing up irrelevant points or making up counterfactuals out of thin air.
We appreciate your taking the time to share this detailed critique. To clarify - our podcast intentionally presents simplified breakdowns for a general audience, while maintaining scientific accuracy. For those interested in deeper analysis, we have dozens of comprehensive deep-dive newsletters available that have tackled this topic from every angle ( all linked at the bottom of our episode page on our website: www.unbiasedscipod.com/episodes/fluoride-and-prejudice-getting-to-the-root-of-this-controversial-mineral ). Regarding the dental health discussion - while we could have been more precise in the explanation, the underlying science is sound. It isn't so much the physical proximity of teeth to the brain per se that matters, it's the anatomical connections between the mouth and the brain that is why poor dental health and tooth decay can negatively affect cognition. This occurs through several interconnected mechanisms including shared blood and nerve pathways such as the trigeminal nerve, the rich network of blood vessels that carry information directly from the oral cavity to the brain, nearby sinuses that are close to the brain (i.e. maxillary sinuses) that can spread infections, and bacterial translocation. While proximity matters, you are correct that it is not the whole story. Pathophysiological mechanisms like chronic inflammation and the spread of bacterial infections, are much more critical to consider than simple anatomical closeness. We stand by our analysis of the fluoride research and its implications, though we acknowledge that some points could have been explained with additional context. As you noted yourself, the research doesn't apply to the intentionally added levels in US water supplies. Thanks for your engagement with the content.
@@unbiasedscipod I can understand a simplification. What I criticized was content that was irrelevant, miscategorized, or simply made up being presented as an objective analysis.
You mentioned some special cases where probiotics might be necessary, like a newborn, or if your doctor recommends it. Which suggests that there can be times when someone’s microbiome is “out of whack” and needs help. Isn’t this a time when taking a probiotic with prebiotic would be good? Are you trying to suggest to people that they are not benefiting from probiotics, with a (biased) assumption that most people buying into this need don’t really need it? So how do we know when we need it? Wait until things go wrong? You talked about low fiber and too much fiber and where to get fiber. Maybe I missed something, is fiber where we get the microbiome critters? Or did you mention food sources for that?
While the efficacy of probiotics is still being debated, this is not: prebiotics > probiotics.
Very nicely explained 👏 Thanks for information 🫶
All I know is that here in China we follow the hacks that Jessie mentioned in her videos --- veggies first, then proteins and fats, last is carbohydrates and dessert. We usually have a lot of dishes made of different vegetables and meat to indulge in before we even have our rice or any carbs. Her explanations make sense to me. I am not snacking in between meals and it makes me feel fuller. I'm happy that Jessie explains this to us. Please don't buy any supplements if you don't need it. There is really nothing new about Jessie's claim. She only makes it simpler for people to understand.
Another great episode! I am so glad I found this channel a couple of months ago.
“Pee out of our butts.” 🤣🤣🤣
Happy (and healthy) New Year to you both! Looking forward to another science filled year (sprinkled with a dose of humor)! ❤
You all are just jealous that Jesse is much better looking than you all!!!
Got me Christmas Eve symptoms Christmas day. My entire body has aches and shivers and severe headache. I never vomited. It's 4 days past Christmas and and all I have now is continuing diarrhea and intestines pain, and some cramps. I'm 62 haven't been sick enough to go to doctor in years. I'm not out of the woods yet apparently. My question is wonder why it's taking so long to completely clear.
I like so, so much of this. Until the very end. Doctors DO dismiss things and just because they don’t have a following like Huberman, some have just as large egos and it impedes their ability to refer to a specialist. Since I was a child I had issues with being sleepy and nothing was done then, nobody listened to me as an adult, FINALLY, I was referred to a specialist and I have a rare condition that is a neurological disorder. In fact, since I was finally diagnosed I’ve been a part of some studies to help see if they can find a medication to help people. I had issues with my period and had never had a mammogram and my PCP kept trying to treat me herself and never discussed the fact that I was beyond do for my first mammogram. She even did my Pap smears. Another doc, a specialist, completely discounted my pain to the point I could have lost the function of my ring and pinky finger on my dominant hand because my nerve was so damaged. I had a friend go with me to the appointment since I didn’t know if I was getting an injection and if it might impede my ability to drive and he was appalled at how I was treated. It was so dismissive and basically, even though I had no history of it in the least, treated me like a hypochondriac. I saw someone else and had conclusive tests that showed I needed surgery. So, while there are some great doctors out there, fortunately, I now have a ob/gyn who is great, I’ve had more doctors that are terrible and it’s frustrating and disheartening and can leave you feeling pretty worthless when the person you’re paying to look at something doesn’t give a shit. So, PLEASE, don’t underestimate how poorly some doctors treat patients.
I discovered this channel about a month ago, and I am so glad I did! Thank you both for providing insights into today's issues facing people today.
Thank you! We are glad you're here!
Don’t eat sugar, take care of your teeth and your mouth, don’t drink unfiltered water, especially out of the tap.
Ive lived in portland oregon for 3 years and just recently learned we dont have flouride in the water. Ive been lacking on dental visits and at my most recent visit the dentist prescribed me toothpaste with more flouride.
The uneducated screeching about fluoride is appalling.
The City of Calgary had fluoridation for years, decided to remove it, and are now spending millions of dollars to re-install the fluoridation system as the number of cavities in kids skyrocketed in the time frame of no fluoridation
I discovered your channel a little over a month ago, and I am glad I did. I think you should have 457K subscribers! I hope to see that some day. 😀
You address that this is talking about fluoridation at higher levels than the US recommendation, but I think I'm left with the concern that we are only getting fluoride at those levels. Is fluoridation consistently at those levels? Are we getting it from multiple sources that put us significantly above those levels?
I should say, you did address just about every concern I had after reading the analysis
Science is rigor. Knowledge is justified belief sufficient to accept a particular fact or take a particular action. Proof of evidence sufficient to convince a rational skeptic. Only logic - relationships which always replicate, can provide complete certainty, but complete certainty is never actually needed.
this is such a helpful discussion, thanks all. it must be difficult to communicate scientific findings to people when everyone has their own preconceived biases about what science actually is in the first place! super meta
Thank you so much for doing these podcasts!❤
Thank you for listening/watching!
Really loved this conversation, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you! Part 2 coming soon!
I'm glad I found this Playlist, through your colleague Dr. Angela Love.
Thank you for your input and the valuable insights about gluten! I plan on getting a diagnosis for celiac disease. Gluten seems to be the only food component I have problems with and everytime I'm cutting it out all my autoimmune symptoms dissappear. However I agree that radically restricting your diet without a good reason might cause more harm than provide benefits and going on the AIP or similar stuff is propably not a good idea.
Great interview! A few points brought me back to med school and my readings in residency. Can't wait for a part 2.
Cancer Daddy is WILD and kinda hot, tbh.
great episode! can't wait to hear more
Thank you for having me on this packed episode! I’m happy to help address any questions or clarify any confusion people may have ❤
Thank you and looking forward to Part 2!
I’m tapering after being prescribed for decades because of a panic attack that should have been dealt with by using CBT, not medication! Benzos are not our friends. Not for tens of thousands trying to stop. Oh, how I wish for a panic attack. This is so much worse. Yes, doing exposure and other methods for most of my life. Drugs just numb the body. I never knew. Also, NOT an addiction! Taken as prescribed. Told I had a chemical imbalance. 🙄 I had a panic attack. The vagus nerve stuff. 🤣 Ridiculous. It’s about calming the hell down and living well.
I got a tick half in buried in my back but can't reach it to get it out!
How can she be “pseudo science” is she is afreaking biochemist? This is insane, she is doing science just as any of you. I don’t think I have to remind you the basis of science is investigating, making hypothesis and testing, which is basically what she is doing and for what I’ve seen with great results, while official pharma is doing literally nothing but make people people indefinitely dependent on medication. This is insane.
Thank you Dr Bumpus. As a retired hospital pharmacist I found this discussion very interesting.
Hello! Love the podcast. Question. I reviewed the study in the show notes on GMO & infertility. Conclusion was as stated in the podcast but it seems like it was nowhere near 1400 studies reviewed. After all the exclusions it was closer to 40 and mostly or all mice studies. Seems a bit light on data and human data specifically to make any grand conclusions. Anyhow, what do we think about the Austrian study evaluating long term fertility paramaters and continuous breeding? Again, love the show and thank you for all your work.
This website should be called GROSSly BIASED .Doctors learn only to treat symptoms not the root cause.I have 2 doctors in the family and in 12 years of study(pre med and med school and internship) had only 4 hours for diet and supplements with an open book exam. Most doctors are good people but slaving to pharmaceuticals. I used her hacks and THEY WORK.these 2 doctors can take a leak on their "medical" bashing
