    Thank you for sharing this... and thank you especially for your explanatory comments - these are helpful to someone with my limited knowledge. I have printed the circuit shown on your circuitsalad website and I look forward to building this receiver to see how it performs on the 30 metre ham band. Best wishes from New Zealand. ZL3ABX

    Is that a metal rod or plastic tube with wire that is holding the topload? Does the bolt in the middle of the secondary have to be nonconductive?

    This is epic. You took something most people use for guitar fx pedals and made a damn SDR! So are you doing synchronous AM, or can you actually compute the vector magnitude in realtime? You know where you sum the square of the IQ Signals and then take square root? Figure it can be done with lookup tables.

    • @rayring1166
      @rayring1166 Рік тому

      I have a number of variations through the evolution of this approach. If you go to my blog you will see a more advanced design. I provide firmware and in the final version utilize a FV-1 freeware called spincad that gives you a graphical interface to build the DSP operations needed to support the different demodulators and filters.

  • @weirdsciencetv4999
    @weirdsciencetv4999 Рік тому

    Can this detect 511ish KeV photons? Basically goes right through everything solid state I have with no interaction. I have to use a scintillator and then a PIN diode. Edit: also, amazing vids, I subscribed!

    • @rayring1166
      @rayring1166 Рік тому

      @@rayring1166 well I guess it’s comforting it wasn’t because I was doing something wrong. Surplus Scintillation crystals aren’t expensive but it adds up quick if you want to make an imager. So cool to see the depth and variety of projects on your channel!

    Hello Ray! I'm an electronics student from Croatia and I chose your 2013 guitar amp design for my final work and the idea got accepted by my professors. My mentor and I have been looking through your posts on circuitsalad regarding the design and the only thing we are missing is the pcb file for it because it has been removed from fileswap. I haven't found any other way to contact you and I hope that you see this and reach out to help me. P.S. your work is really amazing and I love it, even my mentor started browsing through it all!

    You built a tesla coil with foot long streamers without the pain of winding a thousand turns of wire. Meanwhile, as of typing this, I JUST got done winding a coil for 6 hours. You're cheating.

    • @rayring1166
      @rayring1166 2 роки тому

      Creating a beautiful wound coil is half the fun! For me this is just an experiment to show that a small relatively low quality secondary can be driven efficiently and generate good sparks. For the most cool looking, efficient and maximal streamer length to power in ratio coil; a nice wound secondary is best.

    Hi, I really liked your circuit and I replicated the phase shift stage of the feedback. I used a potentiometer with a metal casing and when I touch the casing the arc length increases significantly. Have you had such an experience. I realized that I act as an antenna and if I attach an antenna to the potentiometer casing the arc length also increases.

    How do you program the PIC? Can you use Arduino IDE? I have a bit of experience with the ESP8266 on Arduino and have made webservers on them to respond to inputs from a phone or laptop. That could be pretty fun! Also, do you have the source code? Or do you sell these pre-programmed?
