I’m definitely curious. I bet there would be a lot more reviews if their original MSRP was under $1500.

This is going to be one of those great cable debates. The difference is noticeable to me, in this ridiculously subjective hobby. I've taken all of these banana plugs out of the signal path because I've noticed a difference. Placebo effect? I don't think so. But I totally get it if you're of that opinion. I appreciate the comment.

@@twistyflora Perhaps you did actually hear the difference, which means the banana plugs were either poor quality or improperly installed. Personally I use bare wire, and often solder the ends to prevent any "hairs" from shorting. I do this not because I can hear a difference, but because I don't often change speakers or cables, as in I literally go years without changing. If I changed things often, I would use banana plugs.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. I have a little more left to share, but I’ve found the ‘forever’ systems for my home. A few tweaks to be made, here and there, but I’m loving the music more than I ever have. And honestly, I’m kind of over the UA-cam aspects of Hifi. Going to Record Stores and Hifi shops has become infinitely more enjoyable. But I’m sure I’ll still help anyone out if they request some assistance.

@@twistyflora That could be another YT venue, showing how to, where to get good vinyl, cds or whatever. Pretty close to having everything I need if not there already. Just acquired a Van Alstine CA-1 and its pretty good. A couple of speakers on my list came up earlier this year used but didn't jump on those, perhaps down the road. Need to sell off what I have now that am not using.

So, you have options. A stake through the heart, garlic, a crucifix or watching this video. It’s good to have options.

I’m so glad you’re loving them. The 225s are a special pair of speakers, and I have doubt that the 240s are as well.

I discussed it a little in the a25 review, but these have very similar sound signatures. Both are great amps, and the aesthetic (and better DAC, more power) was a significant reason my I ultimately chose the a25

I know this amp very very well. It’s a hot amp easy to drive and hard to drive speakers. But the heat has never caused this amp to falter in any way.

@@twistyflora I'm concerned about the clipping, thinking to get one to pair with my Celestion Ditton3 that are 8 ohm and 92db, but I'm listening at low to mid volume so, will never push it too hard.

If I was the only one listening… Croft all day. But, by far, the Arcam gets the most use in my house.

@@twistyflora the higher the density the better. And no matter how much you manage to compact those bags inside the columns you’re still going to have a considerable amount of void space inside them.

@@jeeeeeeeefro Fair enough. But it’s a lot of bags in there. When I first tried this, I packed one stand with ‘fill sand” while the other was packed with the bags. The one with the bags weighed more than the one with the sand. I suppose I could’ve filled with cement. But I’m more than happy with the solution I’ve found, and I absolutely love that the bags don’t absorb the humidity and cause rust. To each their own in this amazing hobby. Thanks for the reply.

Yes, it’s true. But it isn’t universally true. Omega speakers are currently on my radar, and love what they’re doing for the hobby.

Never paired the two. But either Rega paired with Wharfedale 225 is one of my favorite pairings of all time.

I don’t know about Amazon HD, I don’t use Amazon music. But I can play bit perfect via the USB out on the node. But strangely, the subwoofer out on the Node is disabled when using g the USB out. So, I use the Coaxial out into an external DAC for 24/192 playback (so that the subwoofer out is still an option)

I never get the feeling that I’m missing anything in my music with the A25. But, the yellow may not be your thing, the screen is very dim, and the knobs take a little getting used to regarding their sensitivity. The SA20… beyond aesthetics, its DAC isn’t on the same level as the A25, and it is negligibly less powerful. But it is an incredible buy at its current price. Still, I went with the A25 and I’m very happy.

I’ve tried amps ranging from $89 (Fosi v3) to $3700 (Naim Uniti Atom) and a whole bunch in between. These speakers are great at normal volumes. But it’s a live tweeter and these speakers definitely resonate at higher volumes.

Which subs are you using? Just remember that your using the subs as LR subs if you use the preouts AND remember that the preout sends a full signal. And, know that I’ve only used my B&W DB4S sub with this amp, and it works very well.

So many options. Floorstanding or bookshelf? Close to a wall, or can you give them space? How big is the room

But, in my setup, the speakers I’d try are 1. Focal Aria 2. Wharfedale Super Denton 3. Polk Legend L100. 4. Harbeth p3ESR (obviously a pricey option).

Oooh. That sounds like an awesome upgrade! I might change the washers. These are the speakers I use all the time for long work-sessions in the office. Never had listening fatigue, but also rarely used for critical listening. I’m always doing something else when I use the wharfedales.

@@twistyflora Audio can bring out the creative in the common guy with modest means. Add 2-3mm to the gap, ditch the jumpers, I'm using van den hul cabling and i did mess with the crossover, this part isn't for everyone but not only do they disappear, the stage is big and relaxed. Bass is good enough I'm not considering a sub. Cheers to your journey!

This definitely is a near-field listening room. Lots of bare walls in my office. And the Fosi mono amps are tempting, but I’m looking at end-game amps with great warranties. I have a decware amp coming in soon that I plan to have for a long time.

I mean, they do. Brass doesn’t conduct sound as well as copper. But, I get your point.

He would be a doofus Audiophile if he bi-wired them. (Ran twice as much wire to the speakers to drive each driver separately.) These speakers aren't revealing enough for that to matter.

Appreciate the comment. The issue is definitely placement. When I put these on my stands, the problem is solved. Family life vs Audiophile life? Family life wins every time. So the speakers will continue to live in their non-ideal situation.
