As a small-time guitarist who's had idiots jump up on stage in the middle of his set, I could only dream of giving them a guitar upside the head. F'ng hate that shyte. I am fully in favor of guitars upside the head for people who disrupt shows like that.

To be honest I don’t blame Pete for acting erratic against Abbie because he was being a nuisance on stage

They both were caught up in the moment. Look at the stress everyone had to go through. The Who had to wait until the next day to perform; eight hours later. I imagined they did not have any sleep. It changed their schedule and it's a good thing that it did not get any worse. I am amazed that an eight month event; that was derailed and reestablished a month later, became a miracle and an awakening of World-wide Youth. A 27 year old and three younger guys made this happen. They dreamed and the world listened.

in the film of the event, the cameraman was just in the act of changing a film magazine when it happened, so no film of Hoffman trying to speak was made. At the very end of Pinball Wizard, you will see someone walking out and momentarily blocking the camera, then the video ends momentarily but the audio continues. The video picks up a moment later when it shows Pete saying "I can dig it."

A Gibson SG special with p-90s is not meant to be trifled with... glad he kicked that pos off... you have to remember or know that Woodstock ran into alot of problems with the weather and BAD storms and rain...if you look up the who's entire set list (it's on UA-cam somewhere), by the time they were wrapping up, the sun was litterally coming up, so that and probably jet lag I'm sure they were all exhausted...

This Saturday, May 28th, 2022 The Who will be returning to the Site of Woodstock. I hope Pete mentions this incident during the Concert. Hoffman won’t be interrupting The Who this time around, because he’s been dead since 1989.

There is another story (likely many) of the Who playing a gig. A fire broke out somewhere in the theatre and some guy came on stage during a song to try and get to a microphone and tell the audience. Pete thought it was just somebody from the audience f-ing around and Pete kicked him right in his nut sack. Ouch!

Nobody but nobody could have deserved it more than Abbie Hoffman. For this moment, and for his brilliant fashion sense with the jumpsuit he wore, Pete wins my second most iconic Woodstock performance, after Jimi, whose set that last morning was probably the most iconic set of any rock artist ever. (I know you are interested in what I think about these things...)

Abbie Hoffman versus Pete Townsend. Abbie lost. In the early days of The Who's career, they were easily the most confrontational group around. Abbie should have done his homework on them.

Abbie Hoffman thought he was the center of the universe. Don't get me wrong I appreciate activism. Abbie had his moments. But as a whole he was a misrepresentation of the movement. In the end He only serve to polarize people.
