Thanks for the reviews. Sarah!
Loveeee your answers and Jen is great! Fun mugs make the world go round 😂
Happy Birthday for the 23rd, mine is the 25th 😊The Kamagawa Food Detectives is such a lovely, cozy book, I really hope you like it! You got a great haul for your birthday :)
I just saw those editions at Books a Million in the last couple months!
I am glad you have Rebecca. I think I told you to take what you wanted, one time when you were here. All is well.
You can read Forever Amber now
Hahahahahahaha!!!
You really need to read GWTW!
I will...
I love Victoria Holt!
I know!!!
Thank you so much for doing the tag! Your mug is adorable. I loved hearing your answers.
It was such a fun tag! Thanks for visiting!
I didn’t like that Jane Austen bio either. I DNF’d it, too. 😥👿
Yeah... I probably won't pick up anything else from her.
I want to read the coffee at the table book, if you want to loan it! love, your mama!
@@christyvirgil3152 Ok I will send it to you!!
Pendleton is still segregated like that in my opinion from what I have seen here.
@@christyvirgil3152 Interesting!!
I was nodding my head and hollering YES (only on the inside, so I could hear everything you were saying lol) about Lucy Worsley and Jane Austen at Home. You articulated PERFECTLY my thoughts both on that book and on the modern feminist overlay on feminine issues in history. I read Jane Austen at Home for Jane Austen July and I wrote SO MANY snarky notes in my copy because I was so beyond irritated with Worsley. 😂😂 I had similar thoughts about Japanese works in translation, although you were better than me, because I couldn't even finish Before the Coffee Gets Cold. I appreciated the concept but I couldn't get past the writing (and the extremely childish and immature female protagonist - I could be completely way off base here, but I feel like Asian culture appreciates a girlish feminine character in opposition to the American preference for a strong woman female character. Just an observation based on my limited exposure to Asian pop culture.).
Oh! You know what, I think that's exactly the thing that is bugging me! Childishness in male and female characters, yes, especially in the women. Maybe the fact that I'm having a difficult time respecting these characters is lending to my struggle here.
I love having a coffee mug in my videos for the same reason you mentioned. Although I do sip from mine - I just speed up those clips because otherwise it's awkward. 😂😂
Haha! Well I think I need to incorporate it more. I tend to look at my video making time as something to check off my to do list and not as a time to sit and chat and enjoy --- I want to change that! Busy mom life, I know, but this is me time!
Oh yes, I don’t believe it’s ultimately men that keep women down. (Sure, they’re out there.). Generally, it’s definitely other women who keep women down. I think I picked up that same copy of Forever Amber at a thrift store. (And Peyton Place.). Loved the covers.
Peyton Place! That's the other one my Mom has!!
Thank you for the tag. I enjoyed this video and am looking forward to checking out more from you 😊
Thank you!
I like the camera angle from up high. I do the same thing!
I'll play around with it, I think. I'm not as sleepy as I look... just have squinty eyes when I smile! Ha!
Thank you for tagging me. I enjoyed this video and the prompts. I'm going to try to do this video tag by the end of the year. Can't wait to check out more of your videos!
Great, I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Thank you so much for the tag! It's as though I am being summoned back to the stacks. Cute and fun little tag too!
Haha! Yes! Come back, come back!
Lovely reading of those opening lines. Great selection through and through (your comments on the loss of the Brontës was very interesting). Sorry it's taken me so long to watch this! Steadily getting back into BookTube. 📚
I appreciate you tagging me and stopping by to check out my responses. Have a great week, friend! Glad to see you back!
Wow that was a very mixed bag. Great video. I love to hear why people don’t like books as much as I like to hear why they do 😊
I'm sort of a glutton for punishment lately, when it comes to reading. But at least I'm keeping myself on my toes!
Glad you read that last one so we don't have to. 😂😂
Hahahahaha!
I was smiling by the end of this video. Thank you for the fun reviews! (Please don't send me those books)
Ha!!!! Oh my goodness...
Loved this tag and i really enjoyed listening to your thoughtful answers.❤
Thank you, friend!
Hi Sarah, thanks for responding to the tag. I LOVED The Time Traveler's Wife.. and loved even more from Niffenegger 'Her Fearful Symmetry'.. did you read it?
No, I didn't! I've seen it around... but have never picked it up. Maybe I will!
Apparently the Brontës all died so early because they spent their lives drinking graveyard water.... so tragic. Thank you for doing this tag, you're really thoughtful and very eloquent!
Oh my, I didn't know this about the Brontës sisters! Thanks Emily
Oh thank you, so sweet! Yes, I had read that and when I had the chance to visit their home, I could see it. Front yard packed full of graves. What a somber thing to wake up to every morning!
Militant and whiny 😂 I agree. Not my favorite. 😏
Good to see you! Interesting sounding reads! 😮♥️
Thanks for visiting, Amy!
You are such an inspiration! You have read more books than anyone I have ever known!
So kind, thank you!
Happy belated birthday! _A Republic in Time_ sounds like an interesting read. I read about Henry David Thoreau's _Walden_ and how he was inspired by Alexander von Humboldt's work. Looking forward to hearing you thoughts on it. Have a great day, and happy Halloween :)
Thank you, Fred! This is the perfect time of year to appreciate Walden, I think!
I haven’t read Kate Morton yet but I have a feeling I’ll like her writing! Thanks so much for tagging me. This was fun!! 🎉🎉🎉
Oh yes, you should! She's fantastic!
Hiiiiii 👋🏻
Great to see you back. Love your rules for the read what you own challenge 😊. Love that you are making the challenge work for you. That’s definitely the way to go. You have some great books planned for November. Q4 of Historathon is definitely my favourite quarter. I’ve started the read what you own challenge this week because I’ve given myself 125 to read before I buy any new physical books. Fab video Sarah 😊
Thank you! I will admit here in this tiny comment space that I've already cheated and bought a book. I think I need a personal trainer to whip me into shape. haha!
So many books to read! I am listening to The Scarlet Letter for the first time, so I’m looking forward to Nathanuary. I’ve only seen the Demi Moore movie, which I did like. And I love The Birthmark. Did you like Walden? I want to read it, too. Happy Birthday! ❤
Thank you! Yes, Walden is a relaxing and sort of philosophical book both about nature and the level of responsibility a person has toward society vs. himself --- self-reliance, etc. Just one of those thinking books... I'm excited about Nathanuary, too! Making plans for some fun videos!
I love everything about Jane Austen. I hope you enjoy all your reads 📚📚📚😊
Thank you so much!
Glad you gave this update! Happy birthday last week!
Thank you so much, friend!
That is so sweet. Thank you for tagging me. Will definitely have to think about these questions and prepare the answers.
I look forward to your response video!
Thank you so much for the shout out! Much appreciated, and I'm so glad you enjoyed my Autumn video!
I'm looking forward to visiting your library!
Come on over!
Thank you for the shoutout. It was very kind of you. This is a really cool idea too, to shoutout some videos you enjoyed from other booktubers. I wish you all success with your channel.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for mentioning me! I am really enjoying common-placing. I should have started it years ago!
Such a lovely tag! As I’ve heard a few times, the closest accent of Shakespeare’s time is something like the southern accent. Some even say the Appalachian accent, and I can definitely see/hear that! My family is Mai of in the Appalachia area, others in the Rust Belt 😊
Isn't that interesting? I think I'd heard that before, too!
Hi Sarah, oh gosh thank you so much for the tag....I've currently got my thinking cap on!! It's lovely to meet you, and also I've been binging your videos I really like your content, so much so I subscribed!! Ah another lover of Midsummer Night's Dream....it's my favourite too!! I really enjoyed your readings from it!! Have a lovely week, and again thank you for tagging me!!xxx
That's so kind, thank you!
I love your new name, but it did make me tear up a little! I love your book haul and Snoopers looked like a fun place to book shop. Your trip was fantastic. I am so glad you got to go!
We had a fun time!
Hello, Sarah! Thank you for tagging me! This is gonna be a fun way to end Shaketember 😊 HAPPY READING! ✌️🙂
Thanks for tagging me Sarah! I will be talking about Shakespeare in my next video because I am going to several theatre performances this week. Your description of seeing Two Gentlemen of Verona in the woods made me envious. What magic!
It really was such a special day!
Hey Sarah! The reason for the new channel name is very cute and suitable!🧡🍂📚 This video was great to watch while having breakfast this morning lol! 😋Learning about the books that you picked up was cool, even though I’ve never heard of the titles or authors before. I loved the scenery where you all visited, especially the lake and trees. And, the fountain that looks like a dandelion. The tour through the vintage bookstore and the restaurants was entertaining. That chicken Alfredo looks super yummy! You and your daughter made me laugh when you were inside the museum during the jail scene. The music included ha ha ha. Like always, thanks for sharing your heart concerning God, books, and traveling adventures. It feels like fall here in NC and looks like it-hope it does where you’re at too! Until next time, friend!
Thank you, so sweet! Hope you're doing well!
Very cool! I want to love reading, I just prefer to read uninterrupted, and that ain't happening any time soon! lol Still watching, but I just subbed! I didn't realize you had this other channel!
Great footage of Fort Smith! We don't live too far away from those places, so the street views look familiar, but we haven't made it to any museums yet. This makes me want to go soon, for sure! That'd be a great trip for me and the kids. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I meant to add......Hanging Judge Parker! The KATS driver told me about him, and my mom was familiar with him. Very interesting! And did you see the OCCULT store on the main street?!? My goodness. I guess they get plenty of business. And yes, there does seem to be a heavy Catholic population. The name "Immaculate Conception Preschool" cracks me up!
Oh, and this is Cindy (N Myles). 😁
Lynzie got a kick out of that name, too! Good to hear from you. I'm so late in answering comments but I have been gone so much! Time to settle in and hibernate for the season!
I found a new favorite channel :)! God bless and keep speaking Truth (John 14:6).
I was homeschooled, btw, and am a stay-at-home daughter, working as an ESL teacher from the comfort of home. My mom was a stay at home mom, and really inspired me throughout my life (continually). Keep persevering :).
So sweet! Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!
Hi Sarah, thank you for responding to my tag. I love Agatha Christie's own story.. I happened to read The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont focused on the days of her disappearance after her husband asked her for divorce.. How cool that you got to visit so many authors' homes.. would love to see Jane Austen's. The book on Emily Brontë you mention may very well be what they based the movie EMILY I saw last year with Emma Mackey... she was awesome in it!
Oh, I wondered if that Emily book inspired that movie. I wanted to see it in theaters and didn't get to it. I'll have to look for it!
