CTC 240: Continuing the Penny Analysis: Measuring Copper Using the Atomic Absorption AA
In this laboratory experiment, the amount of copper in a penny will be measured another way: using atomic absorption (AAS). After dissolving the penny, a series of dilutions will be required in order to prepare the samples for analysis on the AA instrument. Remember, the instrument is sensitive and does not require high concentrations for the analysis! Once the samples and standards of copper are analyzed, the instrument will provide you a concentration (ppm) of copper in the samples. Using these concentrations, you will be able to determine the amount of copper in the sample (mg) and compare it to the starting mass of the penny. This will allow you to calculate the percentage (%) of copper in the penny.

    Good morning! Hi I'm Jeffrey lebron and I'm with INEOS plant in plaquemine Louisiana. We purchase 3 Toc units the Toc-4200 . Two of them are working great but one of them use it for condensed water is having and issue that I haven't been able to resolve and there is no information about how to fix it. Here it is: The start calibration on the key pad is faded and it won't let it star calibration or measurements function . Also it beeb twice when is pressed. The front key pad panel lights indicate that is good and ready to operate just like the other two toc units but this one just don't fully high light the key pad green start touch screen start key. Also I noticed a amber light on on the main electronic board and when I compere it with the other two and equally the same T0C their same light on the electronic board is green.
