Hi, thank you for this valuable tutorial. I'm a copywriter looking to get into the e-commerce space with email marketing. The only thing that has my concern with the ecom brand is that they have to use more templates than a real copy, where I can reach my customers from different angles and pain points. Can you give me advice about how I should use my copywriting style in this new industry for me? Do I have to use templates?
Thanks for your comment! I understand your concern. In ecommerce email marketing, templates are indeed a core part of the workflow. But the real power comes from combining a strong template with impactful copy. Templates help ensure consistency in design and branding, but your skill as a copywriter makes each email resonate uniquely with customers. Think of templates as the foundation - they provide structure, but it's your words that bring each email to life. You can still address different pain points and customer angles by writing targeted, effective copy within those templates. Each email can focus on a specific pain point or benefit. For example, you could create an email that highlights how a product solves a specific problem, another that shares a customer success story, and another that explains how to use or care for the product. I'd recommend moving away from charging by the word and instead, think about charging per email or per campaign. This approach aligns your value to the client's goals - creating the most effective communication, whether it's a few sharp sentences or a detailed breakdown. Templates are tools, not limitations. They make sure your message reaches the right audience with a consistent look, while your copy ensures each message resonates. Hope this helps as you get started in ecommerce!

In the info-product we had 3 emails a week, one of them is promotional but it was structured differently We had a system behind this promotional email. if the already subscriber engaged with it, We moved him automatically to the email campaign and started receiving emails to watch VSL... If he don't engage or don't open the email at all, he keeps receiving the weekly email without noticing we had a promotion on going It was a system well structured, The other thing is, How much should I charge? and come up with an offer based on your experience in this e-commerce industry.
Hey Isaac, sorry I can't give advice about the specific strategy for different brands and the price will depend on the country, quality and industry. I'll consider your feedback when i get back into making more videos soon.
Quick question, are the website signups emails the same as signups on the coming soon page (password protected page)?
Great question! Both will feed into Klaviyo however you can have them feeding into separate Lists. The sign ups from the "coming soon" page are connected via the Shopify integration; so the subscribers will go to whichever list you connect Shopify. When you set up an embed form, you can choose the list, and if you follow this tutorial from start to end, it will be a different list. You can make a segment that incorporates both.

Hi brinbag, which conditional block are you referring to? If you're using a dynamic product recommendation or other dynamic content, yes it will still work.

I feel like it's not possible that most customers will be on mobile. Mobile browsing experiences are SO BAD, that even with the convenience, a ton of people end up using a desktop. I'm sure it's a lot, maybe even half, but most? That just can't be right....or at the very least it's highly situational and DEFINITELY not a blanket statement that will apply to everyone in every scenario.

I'm looking to set up an email flow in Klaviyo that is triggered by an appointment made in Calendly. Right after the appointment is made a confirmation needs to be send from Klaviyo and then an email must be send 1 day prior to the meeting and an email must be send 1 day after the meeting. Connection can be made using Zapier. Can you please make a video on it , please ?

Hey, great question. Shopify checkouts can only have one discount code applied at a time. Depending on how you apply a sale to your store, sales can stack with other discounts, but not with other discount codes.

Sure. At the checkout, only 1 code can be applied at once. So if a customer has 2 codes, they need to pick which øne to use. Separately, when you run a sale, usually you will apply a price reduction on the products you have on sales. However, sometimes, insteaf of running a sale in this way, instead the store will auto apply a discount *code* to the checkout (not a discount on the price itself), that applies the discount *at the checkout*. If you do this (code discount for a sale), then any other code to send to customers can't also be applied. To your original question - when I create a coupon for my First Buyer Customers , for example, and I create discount on my Shopify Store, will they work together or either this or that? - what do *you want* to happen? Either can be achieved, it depends on what you want.

Super weird, it's supposed to sync as long as it matches 100+ profiles. Not sure what it could be, but at that number of emails, Klaviyo support should be able to help.

I have a question about the fact you chose "check out sign up" list rather than "website sign up" list when sync integration with Shopify , why is that? in this case for example in the welcome series the default audience is website sign up, then I will have no one included into my welcome series since all sign up from shopify are all go into "check out sign up" list?

Quick question? We have a subscription base application where every product is custom. The user creates it on our web site and pays for it through strip. It then gets created and sent through ship station. Because it is a unique product I could not figure out how effectively use Shopify. I plan to connect with stripe to receive subscription and then purchase. Curious if you’re familiar with the stripe interface. Have you ever set that up? Not sure if you do any consulting or help with these types of integrations. Thanks so much for your response. I will test once I start uploading data.

I'm brand new to Klaviyo. In my email audience segment at the very end Has "subscribed to list" is not an option in the drop down. Thanks so much for your help. The video was very helpful.

hello, why the notify me button doesn't show in my product page and any product grid after I install the code in theme.liquid?
There are a lot of themes, as we mention in then video, if you have trouble, reach out to the theme developer.

Not at all! When you add this to your theme, it should add the "Notify me" to only the variants that are out of stock. Items still in stock should have "Add to cart" as normal. If that's not how it's showing for you, then reach out the theme developer.

I can't guarantee every theme, but if you can't get it to work, I recommend that you reach out to the theme developer - in the case of reformation it's fuelthemes.net/. In my experience, theme developers are very helpful for this.

My concern is that I signed up as a fake customer and I have added all the flows, I have noticed I have received already 5 emails because of the browse abandoned flow, the chart abandoned and new sign up - all of that could happen to a new sign up who was browsing around and then get bombed with all the emails, is that not too much? @@emailexperts

Hi @majocstle7095 , That's a bit strange! Sometimes the action need to have been taken within the account before the data will poulate into that dropdown, is the option available now? If not, make sure that you have tested the signup forms before you set up these segment rules, and let me know how you go.

Good email, but did you test your mail in gmail ios dark mode?
Hey @siddhant2002, ironically yes the email would have worked on iOS Gmail dark mode when this video was recorded, but not anymore. Unfortunately, you can't make a lasting video regarding dark mode, because dark mode is changing regularly for email. Case in point, iOS Gmail 3 years ago when this video was recorded did no treatment for Dark mode, but since then now it inverts the colours - dark becomes light, light becomes dark. To make things more difficult, Outlook only inverts light colours - light becomes dark, and dark stays dark. These are the rules in February 2024, but they're not going to be the same forever. To make sure your email is dark mode compliant on each marketer to test, test & test. It's the only way to prepare for how your customers experience your emails.

Hi there, Klaviyo interface has been updated since we recorded this. If you want to create a popup, there are still options at www.klaviyo.com/forms/create, and choose Popup, Flyout or Full-screen options.

Hi there, the interface has changed a little bit since this video was recorded. It is now under "Sync settings" "From Shopify" "Sync data from Shopify". I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other issues.

Yeah it's tricky and Klaviyo hasn't got it set yet. I recommend checking out apps.shopify.com/email-templates, might save some time and coding challenges.

Yep it is! You can add the SMS block instead of an email, and the discount codes will work too!
