I find this video disturbing. Haiti is in crisis. Hundreds of innocent people have been recently murdered because gangs intimidate the population as part of extortion schemes. The way out of the crisis is not to spend time honoring the people who lost their lives in an earthquake 15 years ago. The way out of crisis is to plan for a better future. The current government must not only make the correct choices for the future, but it must project an image that sends the message that the government is making the correct decisions. The current government of Fils-Aime and Voltaire is beginning to make progress in the war against the Haitian gangs. Just this week over 700 cadets graduated from the police academy. That will strengthen the force fighting the gangs. The MSS/PNH has established three Forward Operating Bases. The MSS/PNH has begun to arrest criminals who should have been arrested years ago. In the next stage the Haitian government must create space for thousands of prisoners. The existing prisons and news prisons must be made fail-safe. The MSS/PNH must open more police stations. Roadways must be taken back from the gangs. The government must start to communicate the status of high-profile criminal court cases, so that the entire population hears the progress. This will encourage more trust in the government. It will also encourage young gang members to surrender, if they know that they will not lose their lives to vigilantes. Then Haiti must plan for infrastructure that it has been lacking for decades. It must build first class hospitals. It must establish a stock market. Even little Jamaica has a stock market, but not Haiti. It must build railways. The Dominican Republic has railways and has a metro in its capital city. I appreciate the help Kenya, Guatemala, and others is providing to Haiti. The way the Haitian government can show its appreciation is to plan for a future that Haiti has never seen before now. That is owed to Kenya and the others. The planning cannot wait for an election, it must start now. I hope to see a video about a Haiti 2040 Plan very soon.

This is good news for Haiti. This will strengthen the forces which are fighting the Haitian gangs. It means that Haiti will be less dependent on foreign security forces. The help that Kenya, Guatemala, and others are providing is essential, but it is even better that Haiti improve their own security situation with its own forces.
