    Did you start at the Upper Sugar Creek lot, by 675? I haven’t ventured out that way yet, wondering what direction you went. Rode Log Jumper from the other end and was going to connect, but was on my XR650 and it was a lot of whoops and sand so I turned around before I got wore out, lol. Maybe I’ll try from the other end.

    Which trail number is this one can you ride utvs?

    • @martyshred
      @martyshred 2 роки тому

      Hector, this is Long Hollow Road which is a forest service road. Yes, you can ride UTVS on this road. The road starts off of Rampart Range Road and continues to Rainbow Falls just North of Woodland Park. You can also start the ride at Dakan Road. Dakan Road can be accessed from Perry Park Road. Dakan Road turns into a forest service road at the top of the hill. Hope that helps.

    Such great conditions. Just the perfect amount to make nice turns. Always amazes me when you're in a bowl that is enormous and all ten people in that bowl want to ski the exact same line. Was there at the end of January and got nothing like these conditions. Will be in Breck in two weeks and hoping for some late spring storms to make it amazing.

    What do you like better, the 450 or 250?

    • @martyshred
      @martyshred 3 роки тому

      I really like them both. The 250 is more powerful than the average 250 and handles the tighter areas better than the 450. The 450 has great power and is really fun coming out of corners and climbing, but is a little rough for me in the tight technical choppy areas. The good news for the 450 (2021) is that you can change the engine mapping. I have a map loaded in the bike that de-tunes 1st and 2nd gear which really helps at Rampart. The stock engine map hits really hard in 1st and 2nd. I stall the 450 a lot in tight areas. Both bikes have awesome suspensions. I started with the 250 a few years ago because I was scared of the 450. I upgraded to the 450 last year and now I love it. I'm glad I started with the 250 first though.

      @@martyshred i bought a 21 450 fx this year after taking a 16 year break from riding. It is taking some time getting used to the extra weight. It’s 25 lbs heavier than what i was used to riding. 25 lbs is more than i figured it would be. Even with the map on the 21 i have stalling issues, not used to that either. I’ll probably try a 51 tooth sprocket on my next chain/sprocket change. Rampart is a great area. I started riding there in 87 and rode there till 06. Slowly getting reacquainted with it. Your vids help, and are entertaining. If i ever see a couple of “old guys” on yz fx’s up there i’ll stop and say hi.

    • @martyshred
      @martyshred 3 роки тому

      @@maxhenry1977 I kind of like the extra weight, I think the bike tracks better but what do I know :). I have the same problem with stalling but the engine mapping I use helps that out a lot. I call the mapping I use "Mild Power" and it goes as follows: Fuel Injection: 80 | -2, -1, -1, -1 60 | -2, -2, -2, -1 40 | -2, -2, -2, -1 20 | -2, -2, -2, -2 2500 | 5000 | 8000 | 10000 Ignition: 80 | -6, -6, -6, -5 60 | -6, -5, -5, -5 40 | -6, -5, -5, -5 20 | -6, -6, -6, -6 2500 | 5000 | 8000 | 10000

    What trail head was the first part of the video

    • @martyshred
      @martyshred 5 років тому

      Adam, the trail in the first part of the video is trail 650 where it intersects trail 649. Trail 650 and trail 649 intersect at two different locations. The intersection I am talking about is the southern most intersection. Then, we are riding trail 650 south to Long Hollow Road. It is mostly uphill going that way and is a ton of fun because you can really open it up near the top for a long way. The easy way to get to the 650 and 649 intersection is to ride 649 from Rampart Range road where it intersects Jackson Creek road. The second trail in the video is trail 681 (Scotty's Rock), and the last trail is 627 that follows the Rampart Range Road. Have fun riding!
