Heater Matrix Flush and Thermostat Fix on my 1998 Toyota Celica GT ST202
Переглядів 4614 днів тому
My heaters gradually stopped working, diagnosed as a blocked heater core so this was supposed to be a quick hose flush and carry on! As with all things though, it wasn't nearly that simple and escalated into a several day fiasco but the imital flush could be done within 10 minutes with the right tools and good tailwind! Eternal thanks to Will "The Flip Flop Man" for doing the return parts run w...
Vital Brake Slider Pin Info For All Toyota Celica Gen 6 Owners

This seems a much more common issue than I initially thought, but for any Toyota Celica Gen 6 owners make sure you check this part when changing or servicing brake careier slider pins! Mine were all bad and it cost me a carrier and days of hard work, learn from my mistakes! 😅
10 Minute Brake Fix Turns Into A 2 Week Nightmare on my 1998 Toyota Celica GT ST202!
Переглядів 2333 місяці тому
This started as a 10 minute checkover as the brakes had been squeaking for a while, I should have checked them way sooner but didnt. This led to a 2 week ordeal and several attempts to finally get them fixed! Interestingly I did discover something about the brake slider pin dust covers that all Gen 6 Toyota Celica owners should be aware of, as this could have saved me had i known before!

Hello, "Negative_enO" I was analyzing your channel and saw that in your channel have some problem, That's why your channel is not much growing and not getting much engagement, If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. If you tell I can tell these problems. Where can I tell? Here or ig or where?
Love the video! Keep it up celica brother
Thanks brother! 😁 I thought it deserved a chill drive having only just got the heater issue fixed, didn't want to break anything else 😂
Better that than out the window
If i could like this comment twice i would, absolutely agree 1,000%!
Celica all the way brother. Shes good looking
Style is temporary, class is permanent 😎
What coilovers are you using?
Just cheap ebay ones, nothing special. I would recommend BC if you can afford them as they're such better quality but these are just cheap and cheerful for my daily 😂 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404474634372?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=dzpq5d_0sou&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=hMYVXo0ZRfi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
The GT Fours are still legendary
They really are! This is just a lowly GT but one day I would love to upgrade to a GT-Four as an unsensible daily 😅
Beautiful
It's okay from 6 feet away!
@@Negative_enOthe car itself is beautiful. Dings etc. Just add character. I should know, mine has taken a beating 😂
@@julianaschenbroich7313 some cars are built to be enjoyed, if they don't pick up a few battle scars then you're not trying hard enough!
! At least this is a 30 year old Toyota, try working on an 8-10 year old BMW or VW, then the entire video is a whole Alphabet of Cursing. 😉 But You forgot to put in the video of the refurbished brakes not making Noise!
I hate working on anything younger than 20 years old honestly, but the one benefit is new bolts *usually* aren't rusty 😅 but trust me this car has made me invent brand new curse words for it 😂 Bold of you to assume they don't still make noise 🤷♂️😂
Had the same issue with the carrier the worst thing is you can’t tell when looking at it and there no info on the internet , but at least now if anyone gets stuck in the future they have this video, 😁👍
Yeah exactly, first suggestion I even heard about this was from the ebay seller i got the pins from, when I questioned the rubbers being different.. nothing online at all! I'm going to do a much shorter video just highlighting this exact thing so others don't suffer the same fate! Or at least don't spend 2 weeks trying to figure it out 😅
i had the exact same issue with the metal staying in the bracket when i did mine ha but luckily my mate spotted it. also seen the same thing happen to a few other people when making videos of doing their celica brakes but they never figured it out... poor things
Seems like a really common issue now that I know about it, but I've never seen anything about it before now! 😅 I'm going to do a shorter video about it, have to raise awareness for us lowly Celica owners 😂
Gr8 video!!!
Thank you, can't wait to film more!
Do you remember where you bought the gasket from? Been searching for the right one for a couple days now
Either GT4play or JDMGarage are who i use for all my parts, they'll get you right dude!
Damn it looks nice.
Looks okay from 10 feet away 😅
@@Negative_enO lol, mine too. Its a gen 6 celica tho ;)
What year is that one
1998 😁
Glad you worked out the squeak! The rear cover of my boot is in similar crappy condition but luckily it has a child seat anchor which helps prevent it moving about so much
I still need to take the cover off completely, it still squeaks if i dont put wd40 on it every now and then but its okay most of the time! 😂 there are so many rattles and knocks etc. I'm fighting a losing battle 😂
I managed to remove everytiing at the back apart from the anti-rollbar is seized, well the hex screw isn't there What size did you use? Maybe I will saw it off and then get a new anti-roll bar
Ah that sucks, I can't recall the size now but I would strongly advise against cutting the roll bar, been there before and it creates a lot of extra hard work 😂 if you can, try a lot of wd40 and apply some heat if you have a blowtorch, i got a cheap one from amazon meant for cooking its perfect for stuck bolts!
@@Negative_enO I managed to remove it with an angle grinder, both installed on the back now. The only issue I have is the coilovers are squeeky! I hand tighted the pre-load, and used the ratchet tool which came with it as a width guide. I didn't touch the rebound adjustment on top, what do you reckon? Add more preload?
@kieranadams2483 i had to set insane preload on mine just to clear the wheels against the spring seats 😂 Squeak could be the top mount though as mine were bad when i got them, had to put a lot of grease on them but been fine since!
Love a Celica. Is it just me or are 90s cars looking better than ever nowadays?
Couldn't agree more 🖤
this cuts deep 😅
Your pain is shared 😂
Bought my 6th generation Celica 1800 1997 still drives like new. Sadly she has to go due to circumstances. Offers invited. Great looker (silver)
Aww that sucks, sorry to hear that! I'd be sorely tempted to buy it just to replace my shell as the paint is all but dead 😂 good luck with the sale!
HEY! I have the same car (well, mine is not the GTfour... 😢)... and i think the same radio 🤣 Does that one have a sd card slot on the right side? If true and if you've used it I have a question, do yours remember on what song you left it? :) Its a really nice car
Mine is only the GT, it's all good 😂 I'm not actually sure, honestly it was the cheapest radio i could find on amazon that had bluetooth as i only play music via spotify from my phone so I didnt check what other features it had sorry 😅
❣️ 'Promosm'

Keep it older Japanese car are the best
I agree but still got love for the bmw's 😂
just got a gen 6, this is helpful. thanks!
Always happy to help! 😁
Where did you buy it from and how much did it cost
The coilovers were from ebay, around £250: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/404474634372?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=dzpq5d_0sou&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=hMYVXo0ZRfi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
how do you rate those coilovers, are the dampeners good enough to deal with the typical uk roads?
For the money i really can't complain, theyre a lot nicer ride than some cheap coilovers i've had in the past! That being said i still actively avoid pot holes like the plague and if i do venture into one its followed be immediate regret 😂 Summary, perfectly fine if you dont want to spent £8-900 on BC's! 😁
What have you done to car so far?
Nothing too major, coilivers, wheels, brakes, air filter, full exhaust, all 4 speakers and some stickers 😅
i hate ciclists, they are cucks
mi mami pregunta poruqe tenes las uñas pintadas?
Because I like how it looks 🙂 I listen to heavy music, have long hair and a beard, so black nails fit very well 😁
I thought this is a gta5 gameplay. I was expecting the garage to Open automatically.. 30:08 😂
I wish I had an automatic garage door, that would be cool 😂
stock steering wheel?
Yep, a lot of the interior is stock, I don't want to change it too much as it's in really good condition!
@@Negative_enO I want them stock too,,interior,engine bay,
My engine bay isn't very stock but i've kept all the original parts in case i want to change it back in the future 😁
@@Negative_enO can we put that blow off valve without turbo? just asking 😅
It would'nt work, you need pressurised air ti activate tbe blow off valve which only comes with having a turbo or supercharger 😅 Hmmm supercharged 3s-ge, now there's a thought!
gonna need a pov of the silvia when its up and running
I cannot tell you how much I miss it.. let's hope this time it comes back for good! 🖤

I will, there will be a lot of driving videos until something new breaks, then more fixing videos! 😂
@@Negative_enO if that engine taps out, swap a gt4 st205 engine 😅
Not sure that would be in the budget honestly, these engines are still relatively cheap and I need to keep it sensible as it's still the daily 😂
one of my dream's car
I only bought it as I needed a cheap cool-ish daily, didn't realise how much I'd love it!
Man, this reminds me of driving around in my ‘99 integra. Slight interior rattlings and all 🤣 I had that thing fully street spec’d out to my liking until it got stolen a couple years ago. Got a 6mt ‘19 Jetta now but It’s still an enjoyable drive, good to know it’s got great aftermarket support 🙃
I've tried SO hard to get rid of as many squeaks and rattles as i can but the old girl just won't stop 😂 That's beartbraking, I don't know what I'd do if either of mine got stolen, I hope it worked out okay for you! There are so few modern cars I would genuinely enjoy, I'll take a stroppy 90's jap car any day, even with all of its tantrums! 😂
It is beautiful there isn’t it? 😃😀
It really is! 😍
@@Negative_enO where is that, Great Britain?
Sure is 😁
@@Negative_enO:D awesome 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
That's a great sounding machine you've got there
Thank you, its not perfect by any means but it just hits right 😁
@@Negative_enO one thing I learned is that every car is perfect as long there is someone that loves it and takes care of it
Thats the kind of love the scene needs, absolute hero 🙌
holle molle, I really love the 6th generation Toyota Celica, more than I like the 7th generation. This car has a 90's vibe, by the way how much horsepower does it have? then i can ask ofc
I couldn't agree more, 6th gen is gorgeous! 7th gen looks okay with certain mods and they do have more power but the 90's old school vibes on the 6th gen are just too good 🖤 This model makes 175hp in the brochure but given its age it has probably lost a few since new 😂 It does have some minor engine/exhaust mods so maybe it's close to the original 175hp? Not the fastest jdm nugget but quick enough to be fun! 😁
@@Negative_enO The 6th has something special about it and looks like the younger brother of the Supra, a similar spoiler if possible, the 7th generation in stock looks worse than the 6th in my opinion, but that's my opinion. My brother and I are thinking about buying a Toyota Celica 6th and looking at the power, price and the possibility of tuning it visually, it is simply wonderful.
@@KenshinoHimuraabsolutely, it looks like it belongs in the lineup of 90s Toyotas! The styling back then was on another level! I would say go for it! The aftermarket support is excellent, plenty of forums with a wealth of knowledge, great handling and looks, I'd say get one while they're cheap-ish as the GT is going up in value!
@@Negative_enO I like this car very much, but I'm also thinking about the Mitsubishi Eclipse, but it doesn't have that something when I watch videos of the 6th generation Toyota Celica... and in addition, the Toyota with 2.0 GT is cheaper, which has more horses than the Mitsubishi, and you can feel that vintage vibe more 90's and when you tune it visually for something like JDM, it looks awesome 😯
@@KenshinoHimura definitely sounds to me like you need to pick up a Celica! 😂 I'm really glad i got this one when i did, it's been the best daily and really fun to work on and enjoy! 😁 I still have plenty of things i want to do to it so there will be lots more videos coming!
Nice car
Thank you, it's rough round the edges but she does good 😁
The gearstick tells you everything you need to know.
Yep, outlaw shifter and 4 star dragonball 😎
Great that I've found this video! I basically own the same Celica as you, the same year and the GT with the EGR! Great content and very cool that you've captured the EGR closely as I'll use your videos to fix my car! It's also amazing that it ran with basically no spark and loose bolts, mine also runs on hopes and dreams! xD Cheers and greetings from Croatia!

If I assume correctly, this is a non Super Strut car right?
Yep thats right, UK spec ST202 😁
Great video mate! Can totally relate to the meltdown haha
Thank you dude, was a little all over the place but I'm just taking it one problem at a time! 😂 Honestly though every time I show this car a spanner it throws another problem at me 😂

Now I've seen it that's definitely not ceramic in the plug hole, would love to know how that got there!, also hearing Stef call a wiring guide a fuel rail and using a ratchet spanner like a normal one made me chuckle, he will never live that down now 😂
Mate I have no answers 😂 Stef called it haunted, I think thats the most accurate description 😂 In his defense he corrected the fuel rail blunder straight after but i'd stopped filming, and that 10mm is broken it doesnt ratchet any more so let him off the hook 😂
