I watched Moneyball again for the first time since it came out in 2011. Great movie. But I realized what the film is actually about: AI. In 2011, the average person had no idea about the coming explosion of "AI" onto the scene. One of Moneyball's central themes is taking mountains of player DATA and, via analysis of that data, forming a strategy for building a successful baseball team. While, on the surface, many of these purely data based decisions would appear "crazy" from an outsider perspective, the data doesn't lie. This is literally the blueprint for our future AI driven world. So I'm actually viewing Moneyball as one of the earliest films to tackle this topic, and it did so without ever bringing it up. Impressive. The REAL Peter Brand is actually Paul DePodesta, who took Economics at Harvard and he would have 100% known about the future of AI and machine learning (as Harvard would be at the center of all such explorations).

I really like the quote 'with great power comes great responsibility'. Sadly many of us with power don't use it for good but to benefit ourselves. A good example is how we treat other animals, as humans we have great power over them... we can essentially do whatever we want with them. And we do, we selectively breed cows, pigs, chickens to produce way more meat, milk and eggs than they normally would, which causes them all sorts of health issues. We mutilate, confine and kill them for our use. It's not even a necessary evil as we know we don't need these products to lead healthy lives, we do it cuz we can, cuz of taste and just pure laziness to change? If we do have great power over other animals shouldn't we use this power to help them or at the very least leave them alone instead of abusing them the way we do?

Just saw an AI that can read minds no joke they are using it for medical purposes.
