Massachusetts fishermen and seafood processors have a unique understanding of the ways that climate change is threatening our food supply and the livelihoods of all the people employed in our seafood industry. Sustainability is a core value for these businesses, and that includes making their buildings as energy-efficient as possible. One great example is Mullaney’s Harborside Fish Market in Sc...

Thank you for the in depth breakdown
I would love to have links for the apps mentioned
Agree with what @messengineer7582 says, none of the links are visible or usuable watching this webinar online. Can you please post links to the various resources you provided in the presentation? Good run down of current programs, found it helpful - thank you.
20:55 You need to print out your "links" in plain text on the slides. I watch your presentations, usually, on UA-cam, and I can't click on the link. If I attended your webinar live on Zoom I don't think I could click on the link either. Now I'm trying to find the web page that will tell me if I qualify. Found something from Argonne national labs that's supposed to show a map but it hasn't after several minutes; not sure if their site is overloaded or just broken.

Question for GECA: how are Class 1 sources financed and should Class 1 renewable energy become cheaper over time, once upfront cost of installation is paid and owners operate turbines and panels with no fuel cost?
I realize this podcast already happened. Just FYI. I own a 2023 Fiat 500e in Italy where I live almost half the year. I believe your numbers are quoted for the smaller of the two battery options, which even in Italy where distances are shorter, is a minority of buyers' choice. The larger battery, from my own experience, is giving a range over 200 miles. Up to about 225 on mixed, and they quote it as 275 miles in city...
im confused how do i find for Washington state solar, heat pump and electrical panel? Thank you

The update was great. It is exciting to see so much activity ongoing to help address climate change.
56:50 heat pumps using inverters are variable speed and output, so slightly oversized for heating should not be a problem in the winter. However if sized for full heat, this will be about 2 - 2.5 times as much cooling as needed in the summer. Rightsize for heating = way oversized for cooling. But still might not be a big problem, just run 100% in winter and about 50% or occasionally off in summer.
So special , I love this video!!! #1 subs provider -> 'PromoSM'!!!
Not sure if you can answer this or have in the video. With the $14000 rebate is that enough to cover the full cost of installing a heat pump? I would be switching from a gas furnace to a heat pump. And as far as electric panel upgrade, what type of upgrades are allowed?
I've been researching and will share some general info, unfortunately it's complicated. Generally it will take multiple heat pumps, and cost may be around $5-8k each, depends on your specific house, it's location and layout/floor_plan (I last got quotes ~10 years ago and they were ~$4k each then). For common ductless mini-splits, you need a wall-mounted indoor unit connected to an outdoor unit, so assuming you don't want the outside units as possible eyesores on the front of your house, it's easiest if you have space behind or on the sides of your house and you can go a short distance to available wall space for the inside unit. Some home layouts make it fairly easy to install heat pumps, other do not and you may need alternate heating for some rooms. They sell ducted units now so if you have a ranch with forced hot air ducts running through your basement you could fairly easily use those ducts for a heat pump. However I'd recommend against using ducts running through non-conditioned spaces, e.g. an attic -- it's not going to be efficient trying to supply warm 90-100 degree air through those ducts in winter when it's 20 degrees in the attic, nor supply cold 50 degree air in the summer when it's 120 degrees in the attic, because the ducts have minimal (1-2 inches) insulation on them. Just imagine if your attic floor had only 2" of insulation, that'd be considered horrible. But that's all there is for ducts. I also recommend finding and watching Green Energy Consumers' videos on heat pumps.
Thank you. Well structured and informative.
Thank you SO much for this and the IRA webinars. They're very thorough and helpful.

48:00 in the EV charging section, I didn't hear anything about V2L or V2G (Vehicle to Load/Home or Vehicle to Grid). I heard a little in the Q&A at ~52:00. Also referred to as bidirectional chargers. Australia and Germany are doing pilots on "stabilizing" their grid using power supplied by EV batteries. I haven't studied all details but I think a big part of this is shaving the peak. My own calculations: in MA we could get 8,000 MW of peak power, for the worst 1 Hr, using only about 20% of a typical EV's battery, from 666,700 EVs if they had V2G technology. 666,700 is only a small fraction of the total vehicles in MA (60 KWHr x 0.20 x 666,700 = 8,000 MWHr). Of course utilities would have to pay EV owners fairly for using their battery capacity. Also to power homes during power outages -- I have Unitil and painfully remember the December 2008 ice storm where I lost power for 5 days -- an EV with similar, but somewhat simpler, V2L can provide power to the home. Some vehicles like Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Nissan Leaf, and Ford Lightning are beginning to offer some 120 V ~1400 W power out. But since I have a well pump, to get running water I need 240 V and 7,000W peak power.
14:55 I'm a Unitil customer so was sorry to hear you were only an intervenor for National Grid and Eversource. However I understand you have resource limitations. Nonetheless I hope whatever good feedback you gave the DPU will apply to all 3 utilities' plans.
Are DIY multi zone heat pumps such as Mrcool 4th gen eligible for rebates?
sorry i could make it- pretty cool and so glad SOMEONE is ON THIS! and helping the rest of us understand the complexity and needs.
Great information, thank you! Is there a max btu or size limit requirement for the 10k heat pump whole home rebate replacing a forced hot air oil system with existing ducting?
Are the incentives applicable for 2nd home or only for primary residence?
Does the new Mass incentive coming later this year cover heat-only HPs or does it cover HPs that are both Heat & AC?
Its great you have these useful webinars
Given that the most efficient, effective measure to deal with climate change is a price on carbon, but raising the price of gasoline is so politically hard, why not charge a polluters fee for new gasoline cars costing more than $45,000-ballpark $1000 yearly to start, and increase the yearly fee $1000 each year, and decrease the msrp $1000 each year.

This is great news.
once again, the spectre of higher gas prices kills the green initiative.I am extremely annoyed that after all of these public meeting, etc that Mass. has decided the solution to fulfill what the Global Warming Solutions Act requires is to either rely on the federal government,or magic.this act was killed by all the idiots decrying the prospect of poorer people paying more at the pump. One solution would be to make sure poorer drivers, and commuters are not paying more.Institute a state carbon fee and dividend system,$20 per ton of carbon to start and return this in the following fashion for income quintiles in Mass-lowest-150%,next 125% ,middle 100%,upper 75%,highest 50%,And charge a fee to purchase a new, expensive gasoline car or light truck-$1000 yearly to register any car selling for more than $40,000.Second year,$2000 yearly.Lower income folks will not most likely buy new.Incentivise purchase of used ev cars.Pass a law that all commuter fares will be reimbursable through state tax returns below a certain income level.this is not rocket science.
Want to see a real plan and real funding source for the transition.
We need a regional plan to shrink GHG emissions from transportation!
There are some small companies who convert internal combustion vehicles to electric. Do you know anything about this?
Has there been any consideration of including a home charger with every electric or plug-in vehicle?
