    Everybody saying slow down and I agree he's moving way to fast , but Regardless how slow you go on the Altoz and now matter how much better it cuts going slower , it'll never cut 6 times better than the DR !!! 3k for DR vs 18k for Altoz !!

    The DR is a really great machine no Doubt, but the Kubota and brush hog is the best, you are still going to get high weeds and continually Mow, however with the Kubota you can add a finish mower to it and have even better results - IMO.

    tractor and brus hog are a lot more maintenance, storage, you need a shed to store it, spare parts to go wrong, headaches in general !!!!! a giant pain inthe asssss .

    The purpose is to show how better the mowers can cut. If you fly through grass ...do you expect better results. Waste of time and this is bad preview vlog for any one.

    Id much rather ride the tractor and avoid all the chiggers and ticks that come with walking through tall brush. Plus, with the brush hog you dont have to worry about sapplings much either.

    Think the same tractor and a flail mower could get a better cut?

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c Рік тому

      Yes in those types of mowing conditions. A rotary cutter is a very rough type mower, its not a finish mower, its job is to knock down overgrowth and cut it in a manner to induce rot of the vegetation. A flail mower with hammers on it would work for brush and small saplings, a flail mower with knives would work great for just grass and very light brush, but not very good for saplings....many flail mowers will handle saplings and brush up to an inch in diameter, if you have anything larger than that you'll want a rotary cutter (brush hog). I'd go with the flail mower, its a much smaller implement sticking out the back...a lot less issues in smaller spaces trying to turn around LOL.

    You didn't have the brush mower all the way down. That's why the DR cut was better.

    • @sierratreeandbrushcontrol
      @sierratreeandbrushcontrol Рік тому

      The DR cut height cannot be adjusted. Personally I’d prefer it to cut a bit higher. I have the Woods brush hog set at a height that helps me avoid stones and stumps. They both cut great and have their pros and cons.

    Good demo. Does the Kubota 2601 have the independent electronic PTO engagement? The tractor and cutter shook a lot when you engaged the PTO. I’m ready to buy an L2501 or L2502 hst with a 5 ft brush cutter, I want the one that engages the PTO cutter smoothly. Which do you recommend; the L2501 has a manual lever & a clutch to aid with engagement & the L2502 has only an electric switch to pull. Thanks

    • @sierratreeandbrushcontrol
      @sierratreeandbrushcontrol 2 роки тому

      Thank you! The B2601 has a manual lever and clutch for engagement. But even on my larger unit with the electronic PTO the brush hog still shakes on start up. That is because the blades underneath can fold inward when you shut it down and upon start up they are straightening out. Once everything gets rotating vibrations end. I’m a big Kubota fan so no matter which on you choose I’m sure you’ll be happy!

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c Рік тому

      The PTO is independent, there's no manual clutch, its a hydro/mechanical engagement. Any tractor when you engage the PTO with a rotary cutter like this will shake as the blades come up to speed. Even a tractor with a clutch operated PTO engagement will do the same thing. You have a very large mass under that deck to go from stop to spinning in a very abrupt manner....the biggest thing with the shaking is due to the way the blades are under the deck. They swing freely, so when the PTO is disengaged, the blades are folded usually towards the front of the tractor as the deck typically is angled towards the back of the tractor, so the blades will naturally swing to the downhill side....so, when you engage the PTO, those blades are causing an imbalance on the stump jumper which is what causes the shaking. Low throttle and PTO engagement helps a little on the shaking, but really isn't avoidable. The electric engagement setup is even more violent as you have no control at all over it, its either off or instantly on. With the lever you can kind of ease it into engagement, as with the clutch style, but you'll still get the shaking, just not as bad.

      @@wildbill23c 2501 is a big small for a 5 ft cutter in my experience. I'd stick with a 4 ft cutter.

      @@StevieWonder737 If all you are doing is mowing grass and weeds it'll handle a 5 foot cutter...if you are out trying to mow down trees, you'll need a much...much larger tractor, and a different implement, like a forestry mulcher....

      @@wildbill23c Mowing thick grass will take two cuts with a 2501 unless you are making a tall cut. Cutting it to 2" or so will take more HP or multiple cuts to get it done without leaving tons of it poorly cut

    I have that model DR. It's a heck of a machine. I clear my fire lanes of tall grass like you cut, some of it longer. Also clear in woods under trees. That is hedge, briar vines and small saplings. My rule of thumb is , if the push bar will bend it over to where the blades can reach it, it's gone. Had an engine issue about a year in and DR stood by it. I know it's not a do it all machine, but for the cost difference it gets a lot done. I always wear snake boots with it! I'm toying with a small tractor,but want to see how things go in November!

    I’d be interested in seeing how well that DR performs running over and chewing up 1-1/2” branches. I’ve been waiting to see how that B2601 performs in combination with the Woods 48.30. I have that tractor and really want the Woods 48.30. Would like to see more challenging work done with that Woods.

  • @loveforgod6638

    Terrible comparison. So you drive the TSX faster through the grass then the DR and expect the same results and you even mention it in the video? I believe it would produce the same results at the same speed. The biggest difference is you ride the TSX and walk behind the DR. You guys got more money then I do to push the TSX that fast and hard through the tall grass.
